C6 Chapter 6

Bai Nuochu’s breathing was completely out of control, but her eyes stayed locked—stubborn and unblinking—on Bai Jinda, the man everyone called her father.

“Just don’t die in Boss Tong’s bed.” That was all she got in return.

“How long is Brother Bai gonna keep yapping?” one of the men holding Nuochu snapped impatiently. Like he was inspecting livestock, he grabbed her chin and forced her face up. “If Mr. Tong hadn’t taken a liking to that pretty face, the Bai family would never see this kind of money again!”

Nuochu’s face was drenched in cold sweat. From fighting so hard not to struggle, her skin had gone paper-white—except for those amber eyes, wet and shining brighter than ever.

She stared at Bai Jinda, refusing to look away, praying she’d catch even a flicker of hesitation in his eyes. A trace of regret.

“Then hurry up and deliver her to Mr. Tong,” Bai Jinda said. His eyes held nothing but greedy impatience, like he was afraid the deal might expire.

“Mr. Bai!” Nuochu’s clear voice cut through the room. “Why don’t we talk about the acquisition?”

“What acquisition? What would you know about that?” Bai Jinda said with a sneer, not even bothering to turn around.

“The launch of Qinnuo Company’s PG150 has pushed Bai’s Pharmaceuticals out of the market. Qinnuo has taken over your entire share. Qinnuo is offering $330 million to acquire you—on the condition that the Bai family villa is included in the sale.” The moment she finished, Bai Jinda froze.

His irritation turned into shock. What Nuochu had just said was information even the company’s old guard wouldn’t have fully known.

“That’s right,” Nuochu said, lifting her gaze, enunciating every word. “The Qinnuo chairman you’ve been begging to meet… is me.”

She’d inherited her mother’s blood—and her gift for medicine was even greater than her older sister’s, the one who’d once been the talk of the city.

But what had she witnessed?

The Bai’s, built from the ground up on her mother’s talent, ended with her mother betrayed by her husband and her so-called best friend. After that, no one in the Bai family was allowed to so much as say the name Lin Molian. Her sister’s acupuncture skills were the envy of everyone—yet she was driven insane, step by step… even her hands—

So after her mother died, the unmatched medical skills her mother had personally taught her since childhood were buried. She was the Bai family’s Third Miss, treated worse than the help. She was the low-status student at school who wasn’t even allowed to mention the Bai family. And she was also the world-renowned head of Qinnuo.

She poured everything she had—every ounce of effort and every bit of what she’d built—into Qinnuo, all to buy back the villa her mother had owned before marriage, all so she could bring her already-broken sister out of that attic where daylight never reached.

In Bai Nuochu’s amber eyes, resentment churned like a storm. All of this could change—if Bai Jinda would just sign the acquisition agreement.

“Mr. Bai, I can drop the acquisition of Bai’s. I’ll also agree to co-develop the market. Whatever Boss Tong can offer you, I can offer the same—so long as you stop them…”
