C10 Chapter 10
Su Jiyue stared at the phone screen, where Xia Miaomiao’s name kept flashing, and let out a helpless sigh. She turned to Qin Yaochen beside her. “Your ex is calling my phone—your newlywed wife’s phone. You gonna do something about it?”
Qin Yaochen glanced at her, expression flat, then snatched the phone from her hand and answered.
“Su Jiyue, you shameless—”
“Southside villa. Thirty minutes,” Qin Yaochen cut her off. He didn’t wait for a response—he hung up and tossed the phone back to Su Jiyue.
She fumbled to catch it, completely thrown. “You invited her to our place?”
“...” Qin Yaochen shot her a look and said nothing.
“Don’t you think that’s a bad idea?” Su Jiyue wouldn’t let it go.
“...” This time, Qin Yaochen didn’t even look at her.
“I’m just saying, it’s not exactly appropriate. She’s your ex, and I’m—what—your current wife. This could turn into a full-on catfight...” Su Jiyue added, putting on an exaggerated scared face.
“...” Qin Yaochen still didn’t respond, but the car noticeably sped up.
“Hey, I can’t take Xia Miaomiao. Can we just not see her?” Su Jiyue asked, dead serious.
“Screeech—” The brakes shrieked. Su Jiyue lurched forward, then snapped back as the seat belt cinched tight. For a second, she felt like her tongue was about to fly out of her mouth.
“You—” She turned, ready to blow up at Qin Yaochen.
“Get out.” Qin Yaochen didn’t give her the chance. He tossed out the two words coldly, pushed open the door, and got out without looking back, leaving Su Jiyue in the passenger seat—furious, with nowhere to put it.
When she still hadn’t gotten out after a while, Qin Yaochen strode back to the passenger side, yanked the door open, leaned in to unbuckle her seat belt, grabbed her purse, and hauled her out by the hand.
“Hey—hey—let go... hey!” Su Jiyue was still totally stunned. Qin Yaochen suddenly pulled that move on her, and even though she reacted in time, all she could do was keep trying to stop him out loud. It clearly wasn’t doing any good.
When Qin Yaochen finally stopped, Su Jiyue realized Xia Miaomiao was there—wearing a fiery red mini dress with a denim jacket, half leaning against an obnoxiously flashy Ferrari, blowing smoke rings with a sultry look in her eyes.
“I... I’ll go inside first...” Su Jiyue took one look at Miaomiao in full, intimidating mode and immediately chickened out.
The second she tried to slip away, both Qin Yaochen and Xia Miaomiao reached out at the same time, grabbed her by the collar, and yanked her back.
“Su Jiyue, you’ve got the nerve to steal someone’s man, but now you want to run?” As she spoke, Xia Miaomiao flicked her cigarette butt to the ground like she owned the place, then planted her high heel on it and ground it out without hesitation.
Seeing how fierce she was, Su Jiyue couldn’t help shooting Qin Yaochen a desperate look for help. But Qin Yaochen’s eyes were locked on Xia Miaomiao—he didn’t even glance at Su Jiyue.
“You think staying quiet means I can’t do anything to you?” Xia Miaomiao snapped. Somehow, she produced a purse from who-knows-where and swung it at Su Jiyue.
In a split second, Qin Yaochen stepped forward and yanked Su Jiyue behind him. The purse, unsurprisingly, slammed into Qin Yaochen’s arm instead.
“Yaochen, you...” Xia Miaomiao looked startled. Then her eyes reddened. “Why are you protecting her? Why are you protecting that little homewrecker!”
Hearing what she called him, Su Jiyue curled her lip in disdain. She wasn’t some homewrecker. If anyone fit that vibe, it was Xia Miaomiao.
“She’s my wife.” Qin Yaochen said it flatly, then narrowed his long eyes. “Miaomiao, we already broke up.”
“I never agreed to this!” Xia Miaomiao’s voice shot up, making Su Jiyue flinch. “Besides, Yaochen—we’ve been together for years. I don’t believe you can just stop loving me like that!”
After hearing her, Qin Yaochen wrapped an arm around Su Jiyue. “I never loved you.”
