C14 Chapter 14
At the sound of that voice, Su Jiyue went rigid. She slowly turned around and saw Qin Yaochen standing behind her, expressionless.
“Didn’t you say you had to work late?” Qin Yaochen’s voice carried a sharp edge. “So this is what ‘working late’ looks like at your company?”
Following his gaze, Su Jiyue glanced at the bank manager’s hand still draped over her shoulder and let out a quiet sigh. “I’m here to talk to him about a loan. Great Qin’s won’t release any funding to us, but the expansion plan is already underway.”
“This is how you apply for a loan?” Qin Yaochen’s eyes turned icy, his tone openly displeased.
The bank manager, as if his authority had been challenged, not only didn’t let go of Su Jiyue—he pulled her in even tighter. “Who the hell are you to talk to my woman like that? Get lost!”
Hearing that, Su Jiyue couldn’t help silently praying for him.
Sure enough, the moment Qin Yaochen heard those words, his face darkened.
“Yaochen, let’s go.” Just as it looked like Qin Yaochen was about to blow up, a tall blonde stepped out from behind him and naturally looped her arm through his.
Qin Yaochen glanced at the blonde beside him, narrowed his eyes, then looked back at Su Jiyue. “You’d better give me an answer I can live with.”
She didn’t know where the nerve came from, but Su Jiyue leaned a little closer into the bank manager’s embrace. “There’s nothing to explain. It’s exactly what it looks like.”
The moment the words left her mouth, she could practically feel the temperature in the room drop.
She braced herself for Qin Yaochen to explode, but to her surprise, he only stared at her for a long moment—then turned and walked away with the sexy blonde on his arm.
“Miss Su, I’ve already had someone book the room at the hot springs resort,” the bank manager said, even reaching out as if to tap her on the nose. “Tonight, don’t be naughty.”
No one expected Su Jiyue to lose her temper like that. She slapped his hand away, grabbed the water glass off the table, and dumped it straight onto Director Li’s face. “Director Li, you didn’t even bother to find out who I am before you started messing with me. Guess ignorance really is fearless.”
With that, she snatched up her purse and walked out on her heels.
“Su Jiyue, you’d better come back right now and get on your knees and apologize. Otherwise, forget the loan. And don’t think you can keep dragging out your old accounts with our bank, either!”
“If you’re tired of being director, go ahead and try it,” Su Jiyue shot back. Then she hurled her phone out the window, shut her eyes, and pressed hard against her temples as her anger pounded.
She didn’t know how much time had passed before she heard someone tapping on her car window. She looked up—and it was the blonde woman who’d been with Qin Yaochen earlier.
“...” Su Jiyue stared at her coldly without a word, her gaze sharp enough to cut.
“Don’t look at me like that. I’m not your enemy.” The blonde smiled and held something out. “As the boss, you’ve got a lot of business secrets on your phone. Tossing it around like that isn’t a great idea.”
Before Su Jiyue could even react, the woman dropped it into her lap and swayed off.
Following her with her eyes, Su Jiyue saw Qin Yaochen standing beside his car. When the blonde reached him, he opened the door for her like a perfect gentleman. Just before she got in, she glanced back at Su Jiyue, then—brazenly—leaned in and planted a kiss on Qin Yaochen’s cheek.
Su Jiyue couldn’t watch another second. She started her car and shot out of the parking space.
