C3 Chapter 3

By the time they left the courthouse, night had already fallen. Su Jiyue patted her purse and couldn’t help smiling.

“Jiyue, Grandma already had someone take you and Yaochen to the villa on the south side of town. All your essentials have been packed up and delivered, too. It’s close to both of your offices. And tonight is your wedding night—make the most of it!” As soon as she finished, the old lady got into the car at an unbelievable speed and, in the blink of an eye, disappeared from Su Jiyue’s sight—car and all.

Staring at the key that had just been pressed into her hand, Su Jiyue froze for a second.

Then, out of nowhere, she felt a heavy pressure behind her. She turned around, and Qin Yaochen came into view, his face set in a deep scowl.

“Um… Grandma said…” Su Jiyue swallowed. Every time Qin Yaochen looked like that, she knew his mood was beyond awful.

“I know.” After saying that, Qin Yaochen strode to the driver’s side, yanked the door open, pulled the driver out by the arm, then nodded at Su Jiyue. “Get in.”

She had no idea what he was up to, but she didn’t dare waste time. Su Jiyue scrambled into the passenger seat, shut the door, and buckled her seat belt. Leaving the driver standing there, completely stunned, the two of them took off.

In the car.

Su Jiyue worked up the nerve for a long time before she finally spoke. “So, Yaochen… about Miaomiao…”

“Broke up.” Qin Yaochen kept his eyes on the road and tossed out the words like they were nothing.

“Huh?” Su Jiyue blinked, caught off guard. “When? Just now?”

Qin Yaochen shot her a look. “Last week.”

“Oh…” Su Jiyue let out a quiet breath of relief.

Her position was awkward enough as it was. If what happened today had caused Qin Yaochen and Xia Miaomiao to break up, she would’ve felt unbearably guilty.

Even though… she liked Qin Yaochen too…

After that, neither of them spoke again. Qin Yaochen drove fast, and by the time the city lights were glowing in the distance, the newlyweds had already arrived at their destination.

Southside villa, living room.

Su Jiyue stared at the agreement in front of her, completely at a loss.

“Prenup. Sign it.” Qin Yaochen offered nothing more than that, then held out a pen.

Su Jiyue frowned. She didn’t take the pen. Instead, she picked up the document and read it carefully.

Mr. Qin Yaochen, by virtue of his distinguished status, though forced today to marry Ms. Su Jiyue, does so against his true wishes. This agreement is therefore drafted in the hope that Ms. Su Jiyue will abide by the following terms in daily married life.

Just that opening line made Su Jiyue’s brow knit tighter.

Distinguished status?

Forced?

The words stung, but when she thought about it, they weren’t exactly wrong. She pushed past the preamble and kept reading.

1. During the marriage, Su Jiyue may not enter Qin Yaochen’s bedroom without permission.

2. When elder family members visit, Su Jiyue is obligated to cooperate with Qin Yaochen and play the role of a proper wife.

3. During the marriage, Su Jiyue must fulfill her duties as a wife: no casual involvement with other men, no coming home late, and no staying out overnight.

4. During the marriage, Su Jiyue has no right to interfere in any of Qin Yaochen’s social life, business engagements, or romantic life.

5. ...

Su Jiyue skimmed to the end. She’d known Qin Yaochen would never agree to marriage that easily, but she hadn’t expected him to come up with this.

“Sign.” Seeing she’d finished, Qin Yaochen held the pen out again and tossed out the two words, cold and blunt.
