C5 Chapter 5

“Ah… my eye makeup!” Su Jiyue couldn’t help yelping.

She always wore eyeliner, and after what Qin Yaochen just did, the second she looked up she was probably rocking full-on raccoon eyes.

Even though he’d dragged her over without an ounce of gentleness, when he rinsed out her eyes, he was unexpectedly careful.

A few minutes later, Qin Yaochen shut off the faucet, grabbed a towel from the side, and not-so-gently pressed it to Su Jiyue’s face.

“…”

After carefully wiping her face, Su Jiyue peeked out from behind the towel.

The moment Qin Yaochen saw her, he clearly froze—then a grin spread across his face, impossible to hide.

Seeing that expression, Su Jiyue instantly knew her makeup was a disaster. She angrily tossed the towel into Qin Yaochen’s arms, turned on her heel, and headed for her room.

Half an hour later, Su Jiyue reappeared in front of him looking like herself again: flawless makeup, a well-put-together outfit, and a cute baseball cap that made her look bright and full of energy.

“You’re a boss, aren’t you? How are you not even a little bit formal?” Qin Yaochen said, tugging at his tie.

Su Jiyue rolled her eyes. “Please. You’re a corporate CEO. I’m just the owner of a tiny design studio. Who am I supposed to be that serious for?”

“For me.” Qin Yaochen lifted his soy milk and took a sip.

Choked by his sudden answer, Su Jiyue snatched up a steamed bun, downed her soy milk in one go, and marched toward the front door.

Watching her storm off, Qin Yaochen had no idea why, but he was in an especially good mood.

He set his soy milk down at an unhurried pace, had Aunt Chen pack up the steamed dumplings, grabbed them, and headed out as well.

In the car.

Su Jiyue munched on a dry steamed bun while scrolling through her social feed on her phone. After everything that had happened from yesterday to today, she couldn’t help posting a status.

“Sometimes getting what you want isn’t actually a good thing. Once your dream guy comes down to earth, how does he get so annoying?”

She’d barely hit post when the car door opened. Su Jiyue looked up—it was Qin Yaochen—and instinctively tucked her phone away.

“Here.” Qin Yaochen set a container of steamed dumplings on the seat beside her, then started fastening his seat belt.

Su Jiyue stared at the dumplings—usually her favorite. She’d been about to eat them, but the second she remembered they were from Qin Yaochen, she turned her head in a huff and refused to even look at them.

After Qin Yaochen buckled up, he noticed she hadn’t touched the dumplings. He clicked his tongue, about to say something, but when he took a closer look at her, he unfastened his seat belt and leaned over her.

“What are you doing...” Su Jiyue had been sulking while staring out the window, but being suddenly boxed in by Qin Yaochen’s presence made her whole body tense on instinct.

Seeing how nervous she looked, Qin Yaochen felt a sudden urge to mess with her. He leaned in even closer. This time, they were almost pressed together.

With his warm breath brushing her face and his distinct scent surrounding her, Su Jiyue felt her heartbeat speeding up, her cheeks burning hotter and hotter.

Just as Qin Yaochen drew nearer and nearer—so close that Su Jiyue was almost about to close her eyes—he suddenly turned his head away.

“Just helping you buckle your seat belt.”
