C6 Chapter 6
The whole drive, neither of them said another word. Qin Yaochen, though, seemed to be in a great mood—he even turned on the car stereo and put on Mozart.
Su Jiyue couldn’t stop thinking about the way he’d buckled her seat belt earlier. She was embarrassed and irritated all at once, and she didn’t dare look at him.
When the car pulled up in front of Su Jiyue’s studio, Qin Yaochen was the one who reminded her they’d arrived.
Flustered, Su Jiyue fumbled with her seat belt, shoved the door open, and was about to bolt when Qin Yaochen called after her.
“Su Jiyue, your bag.”
“Oh…” She froze, but still didn’t dare turn around. Instead, she reached back, trying to feel around for it.
Seeing her like that, Qin Yaochen’s mischievous streak kicked in. He quickly stuffed the bag of steamed dumplings into her purse, then looped the strap around the gearshift. After that, he sat back and watched her hand search around in silence.
Su Jiyue finally found her purse and, without thinking, yanked hard. It didn’t budge—and the force pulled her right back, sending her crashing into the passenger seat.
Still a little dazed, she turned her head and saw her purse hooked on the gearshift. Not thinking anything of it, she hurriedly unlooped the strap, hugged the purse to her chest, and took off like a shot—so fast she didn’t even close the car door.
Watching her dart away like a rabbit, Qin Yaochen let out a quiet sigh. He hit the gas, swung the car around, and the passenger door slammed shut.
Great Qin's.
“Mr. Qin, these are the documents for acquiring Qingyue Yuanlin Studio. I’ve left them here.”
“Mm.” Qin Yaochen answered without looking up.
Only after his assistant closed the door and left did he lift his head from the stack of paperwork, pick up the acquisition file for Su Jiyue’s studio, and read through it carefully.
Not long ago, he got word that the design world’s big once-every-three-years event was about to kick off: the Prosperity Landscape Design Competition. And as the dark horse of the landscape design scene, Qingyue Yuanlin Studio had already caught the attention of plenty of rivals. Among them, City H’s largest landscape design firm, Chenxiang, had set its sights on Qingyue—and before long, they were going to come after Su Jiyue.
At a moment like this, Qin Yaochen buying out Su Jiyue’s studio was, without a doubt, the best protection she could have.
Qingyue Yuanlin Studio.
“Ms. Jiyue, are you serious right now?” Su Jiyue’s assistant, Cai, looked like she couldn’t believe it after hearing the news that the studio was about to be acquired.
“Qin Yaochen told me himself. I don’t think he’d lie about something like that.” Su Jiyue sank back into her chair, looking more deflated than usual.
Once she got a definite answer, Cai suddenly lit up. “Ms. Jiyue, do you think Qin Yaochen’s trying to make a move on you?”
Hearing that, Su Jiyue quietly let out a breath of relief. Good—Cai only knew she was the Qin family’s adopted daughter and that she’d grown up with Qin Yaochen. If this loudmouth ever found out she was already married to him, who knew what kind of wild story she’d spin.
“What is going on in that head of yours all day?” Su Jiyue shot Cai a look.
But Cai, weirdly excited, leaned all the way over Su Jiyue’s desk. “Ms. Jiyue, you live under the same roof as him and you don’t know?”
“Know what?” Su Jiyue asked casually, thinking Cai might be talking about Qin Yaochen breaking up with Xia Miaomiao.
“Come on—him and that Xia family heiress. They broke up.” Cai delivered it like she’d been waiting to say it.
