C12 A Princess in a Fairytale

"What kind of equipment needs inspection at your place?"

Wu Miao's face fell. "It's just the production line for spicy snacks. They claim ours doesn't meet standards, so I had to call in an expert like you to check it out."

Rong Yaoting raised an eyebrow. "Is your family really short on cash? Producing spicy snacks?"

Wu Miao blushed slightly. "You'd be surprised. The profit margins on these little snacks are actually quite high."

"Mr. Rong, Young Master Miao is right. The profits from these snacks are significant," Schoch added with a smile, not necessarily siding with Wu Miao, just stating the facts.

Rong Yaoting shrugged, looking at Wu Miao seriously. "Since it involves food, I won't cut any corners. If the equipment truly doesn't meet standards, it all needs to be replaced. I'm telling you, you can't skimp on this."

Wu Miao nodded, his expression serious. "Don't worry, Mr. Rong. I understand."

After a few more exchanges, Wu Miao suddenly changed the subject. "Mr. Rong, I should congratulate you. Miss Lu is now Mrs. Huo. The Rong, Lu, and Huo families have formed quite an alliance."

Rong Yaoting snorted internally at the so-called congratulations. Everyone in B City knew that Yung Mei was no longer associated with the Rong family, and the Lu family clearly didn't value Lu Yiting.

Lu Yiting, a young lady of high status, was unilaterally announced divorced at her birthday party, without Yung Mei or Lu Tian standing up for her. Such parents...

Rong Yaoting recalled the look of distress on Lu Yiting's face earlier. His heart ached for the girl who never cried even when bullied as a child, yet now she was brought to tears.

His gaze shifted to Lee Kaiwei, standing quietly in the corner of the banquet, his eyes growing cold.

Schoch was the first to notice Rong Yaoting's gaze towards Lee Kaiwei and responded to Wu Miao on Rong Yaoting's behalf.

"Young Master Miao, you’ve got it wrong. Remember, you and Jun are cousins, so you and Mr. Rong are practically family."

Wu Miao followed Rong Yaoting's gaze, then turned to Schoch with a sly smile, "Hey, Schoch, where's Xiaoxiao?"

Schoch frowned. The Xiaoxiao Wu Miao mentioned was his beloved little sister, Hsiao Xiaoxiao. Wu Miao had a thing for her, but she was into Huo Jun, who ended up marrying Lu Yiting. Yiting was originally engaged to Lee Kaiwei, who eventually married Lau Fengxue. It's a small world, and everyone's tangled in this web of relationships!

"Xiaoxiao was just here but left again because..."

Wu Miao paused, unsure how to continue. Should he mention that Xiaoxiao had been pining for Huo Jun for years, only to see him marry Yiting? And that she might have gone to confront Yiting? He couldn't bring himself to say it out loud, especially since he had his own plans to disrupt Huo Jun and Yiting's relationship.

Understanding the situation, Wu Miao didn't press further. Instead, he joined Rong Yaoting and looked over at Lee Kaiwei. "Mr. Rong, I heard Director Lee and Lau Fengxue have already tied the knot."

Rong Yaoting casually looked away. "He just didn’t like my niece, that’s all. It’s none of his business."

Yeah, right!

In his mind, Rong Yaoting crossed out Lee Kaiwei. If he had been around, Lee Kaiwei wouldn’t have hurt Lu Yiting for so long. Even though he hadn’t caught all of Yiting and Lee Kaiwei's conversation earlier, he could guess that Yiting probably resented him deeply.

Since his niece despised this man, as her uncle, he needed to figure out how to make Lee Kaiwei's life difficult.

He ignored Wu Miao and walked straight over to Schoch. "Hey, Schoch, where's Miss Lu working these days?"

He had returned in such a rush that he didn't have a clear picture of everything. Apart from the whirlwind marriage of Lu Yiting and Huo Jun, he wasn't up to speed on the smaller details.

He had hoped to have a good chat with her, but Huo Jun clearly wasn't going to give him that chance. The guy was already jealous when an uncle hugged his niece; if they spent the whole night talking, he'd probably see him as a mortal enemy.

Thinking of this, he chuckled. People might have their theories, but it was obvious that Huo Jun had deep feelings for Lu Yiting. It was just a case of not seeing the forest for the trees.

"She's working as a nurse at City Hospital in B City, keeping her identity under wraps. The attending surgeon there is someone I know, named Chen Shaoyang. Why do you ask, Mr. Rong?" Schoch replied without hesitation, always keeping tabs on Lu Yiting's whereabouts.

Rong Yaoting laughed, his expression warming. "I remember when she was a little girl, she'd cry if she saw a bird fall from a tree, saying she wanted to be a nurse when she grew up. I guess she really meant it."

Schoch smiled too. "Yeah, she's... very kind."

She seemed like a princess straight out of a fairy tale.
