C6 Embarrassed Youngest Uncle

Yiting pursed her lips, looking at the man with a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I've... been waiting for you to come back!"

Yes, she had been waiting for him. It had been five long years. He had joined the advanced program at B University when he was just thirteen. His intelligence was off the charts, and by fifteen, he had completed all his studies and started learning from the most renowned scientific engineer in the country.

From that time on, she rarely saw him. But whenever he had the chance to come back, he would always visit her, teasing and bossing her around. They were the perfect example of a willing participant and a willing victim. She admired him wholeheartedly, blindly, showing her naivety.

He, on the other hand, was quite proud but always made time for her. The family would say that this man, who had his eyes set high, was especially fond of her, and no one else could get a word in with him.

He doted on her, and she hung on his every word.

Then, five years ago, he was invited to the U.S. for a secret research project, leaving the country and disappearing from her life. Just like that, five years passed.

Her words made the man a bit uneasy, but he softened his tone. "I've been thinking about you too."

His expression suddenly darkened. "Those jerks dared to bully you like that. I'll make sure they pay for it!"

She was his treasure, and only he was allowed to tease her. Anyone else? Not a chance!

Yiting hesitated, then finally decided to speak up. "Uncle, don't say that. If they're pigs, then what does that make me?"

Hearing this, Yaoting smirked. "Aren't you just worse than a pig? I'm not around, and you let yourself get bullied like this. You're the Lu family's daughter..."

He paused before continuing, "Is Lu Tian still being distant with you?"

Yiting bit her lip at the mention of this, nodded slightly, and lowered her head. From Yaoting's angle, she looked like a pitiful little puppy.

He quickly pulled her down, and as soon as Yiting's feet touched the ground, she was ready to jump back onto Rong Yaoting.

"STOP!"

Rong Yaoting made a halting gesture before saying, "You're Mrs. Huo now; you can't act like a kid anymore!"

Hearing this, Yiting's spirits deflated, and she stood there, head down, barefoot.

Rong Yaoting glanced at her bare feet and, with a sigh, went to get her shoes. When he turned back, he found Yiting following him, her eyes wide and earnest.

He knelt down and helped her put on her shoes. "I know what you're thinking. I won't be here long, but before I leave, I'll help you sort out a few things."

After putting on her shoes, he stood up and gently patted her head. "Later, tell me about all the silly things you've done over the years."

Hearing this, Yiting remembered how he used to scold her in the same tone when she was a child, but back then, she loved being around him.

People said Yiting was lucky to have Rong Yaoting's protection. In truth, she was incredibly fortunate. Over the years, her youngest uncle was her only pride.

She always tried to better herself, hoping that when they met again, she would be improved and not embarrass him. But in the end, she still let him down.

"Uncle... please don't go. Mom and I miss you so much!"

At her words, Rong Yaoting's expression darkened. "Why bring up that woman?"

Yiting's eyes flickered with unease, and she tugged at his sleeve, trying to appease him. "Uncle, she's my mom."

Rong Yaoting pressed his lips together but said nothing more.

Yiting's mom was his older sister, fifteen years his senior! When Yiting was born, he was only five years old.

He genuinely disliked his sister, Yung Mei. After her first husband passed away, she quickly married Lu Tian, who was also grieving the loss of his wife and had a daughter, Yiting, who was just a few days older than his five-year-old son at the time.

Yung Mei's actions brought a lot of scrutiny to the Rong family. Lu Tian's wife's sudden death sparked numerous rumors, casting a shadow over the family.

If it were just this, Rong Yaoting might not have held such a grudge against Yung Mei. What truly troubled him was Lu Tian's extraordinary coldness towards Yiting.

Originally named Lin Ting, she changed her name to Yiting to match her brother, Yiming. Rong Yaoting understood his niece's true nature. Having lost her biological father early, she longed for Lu Tian's affection, but all she received was indifference.

The Rong family had severed ties with Yung Mei the year she married Lu Tian. Consequently, Yiting couldn't rely on either the Rong or Lu families. Despite her prestigious background, her position was awkward.

Most people didn't know how to treat this young woman, who by all accounts should have been highly esteemed, so they either kept their distance or maintained a polite but detached relationship.

Thinking of this, Rong Yaoting gently pulled Yiting into his embrace.
