C8 Both of Them Are Injured
Huo Jun glanced around, trying to make sense of it all. It was clear—the man putting on airs was speaking the truth! The thought made his heart feel heavy, like something was blocking it. He kept telling himself not to care about this heartless woman, yet he broke his own rule time and again.
Trying to maintain a calm demeanor, he looked at Rong Yaoting. "No matter what she was to you before, she's Mrs. Huo now. We're legally married, so you, as an outsider, should stay out of it!"
Thud!
Lu Yiting slowly backed away along the wall, distancing herself from the two dangerous men. She had a feeling that if this continued, she might end up caught in the crossfire, and that was definitely not a good sign.
Stay out of it?
Rong Yaoting's expression turned cold, yet a smirk played on his lips. He couldn't believe his nephew-in-law had the guts to talk to him like that. Had his legend faded because he'd been away from the scene for so long?
With a casual, almost roguish tone, he said, "And what if I don't? I happen to know you haven't even touched Miss Lu yet. Could it be... you can't?"
Huo Jun's face turned a deep shade of blue. How did this man know such a private detail? Was that woman really so eager to share?
"You're asking for it!"
With that, Huo Jun made the first move, spinning in mid-air to kick at Rong Yaoting.
This time, Rong Yaoting didn't dodge. He took the hit with his right arm, stepping three paces to the left.
"Not bad. Looks like you're already above a black belt. Impressive for someone so young!"
Lu Yiting heard her uncle's words and couldn't help but twitch at the corner of her eye. So young... Seriously, Uncle, Huo Jun is only a year younger than you. She had a feeling her uncle's sharp tongue was getting sharper by the day, and Huo Jun probably didn't even realize he'd just been subtly insulted.
Sure enough, Huo Jun didn't argue back. He pressed his lips together, stepped back a couple of paces, and put some distance between himself and Rong Yaoting. His eyes were deep and thoughtful. He had used eighty percent of his strength in that strike, yet it was blocked by just one arm. This man was no ordinary opponent.
Rong Yaoting's eyes gradually lit up with excitement. "It's been years since I've come across someone as intriguing as you. This is exhilarating!"
With that, he charged at Huo Jun with lightning speed. The two exchanged blows rapidly, and in less than two minutes, they had already gone through over twenty moves, evenly matched. Lu Yiting watched in awe.
Suddenly, Rong Yaoting launched a tricky attack aimed at Huo Jun's stomach. Huo Jun sidestepped, bent his left leg, and aimed between Rong Yaoting's legs!
"Ah!" Lu Yiting exclaimed, covering her eyes. But the anticipated cry of pain never came. Peeking through her fingers, she saw Huo Jun rubbing his neck while Rong Yaoting massaged his stomach.
In that split second, to protect himself, Rong Yaoting had crouched, sacrificing his stomach to avoid a worse fate, and managed to land a hit on Huo Jun's neck. The match ended in a draw, both sides taking a hit.
Lu Yiting blinked in surprise, not expecting the duel to conclude so quickly.
"Miss Lu, what are you screaming for? I wouldn't have taken that hit otherwise!" Huo Jun frowned at her.
Indeed, if it hadn't been for Lu Yiting's outburst, neither might have landed a blow, and the match wouldn't have ended so abruptly.
Realizing the situation, Lu Yiting's face turned awkward. "I... I didn't mean to!"
You couldn't blame her, though. Her youngest uncle had almost faced a serious consequence, and in their family, he was the only male heir of his generation.
Huo Jun didn't look at her. Instead, he stared blankly at Rong Yaoting and said, "Take back what you called her. She's my wife!"
Rong Yaoting took two steps back, leaning against the wall with a half-smile on his face. "A wife in name only?"
Huo Jun's expression darkened. This man clearly wouldn't let that go, and Huo Jun had no way to refute it. For the past month, ever since they got their marriage certificate, he'd been busy dealing with Lee Kaiwei, leaving no room for anything else.
Even though they'd been staying at the Huo Mansion, he slept in the study while Lu Yiting slept in the main hall. Even if he wanted to do something, she was probably already fast asleep!
Lu Yiting, fearing they might start fighting again, rushed over and clung to Huo Jun's arm, timidly handing him a suit jacket. "Jun, your jacket."
Hearing her call him that, Huo Jun's expression softened for a moment. But when he looked down, his handsome face darkened again. He turned to glare at Lu Yiting, only to see her eyes, clearly red from crying, looking like misty clouds, beautiful and elusive. The words he wanted to say suddenly got stuck in his throat.
Lu Yiting didn't understand Huo Jun's thoughts. She just shrank back a little, confused about why he suddenly looked upset. She glanced helplessly at her smart little uncle for support.
