C6 Chapter Six

Kate went to her night shift work. Immediately she changed her cloth, she recalled this is Miller's company and there is a high probability that he would come here today. She calmed herself and assured herself that she wouldn't be assigned to deliver his drink. Rhoda knew how unhappy she would be and she is considerate too.

"Kate, it's great that you are here," Rhoda said happily.

"How has your day been? I'm sure it was better than mine," Kate enquired.

"Maybe. Anyways, I need you to deliver this to the boss," Rhoda said.

Kate froze instantly. Her happy demeanour turned sour and sad. Why should she deliver the drink to someone she is trying to run away from?

"Rhoda, please let someone else do," Kate said with pleading eyes.

"I wish I can but the boss ordered was to make sure you deliver it," Rhoda said.

"Haaaaa! How did I offend Heavens today?" Kate asked no one in particular as she picked a tray and arranged the boss's drinks.

"He said to come along with two glass cups," Rhoda said.

Kate heaved a sigh of relief. Thank God, she would be quick to leave as he has someone with him.

"Thank God," she muttered.

"I think the boss likes you," Rhoda said.

Kate squinted her eyes and gave Rhoda a 'what the hell are you saying look?'

Rhoda laughed and said, "Not the type of like you think. The boss is player. Let your heart be guarded."

"Which like then?" Kate questioned.

"I don't know. It is just my assumption," Rhoda explained.

"Your assumption is lethal," Kate frowned, "What birthed the assumption?'' she questioned.

" The boss doesn't allow an attendant to serve him more than once but look at you, here is your second visit. Also, you are new here," Rhoda said.

Kate nodded negatively. "Only if you know what happened today," she mumbled and went to deliver the drink.

In lieu of taking the elevator, Kate decided to take the stairs and comported herself. She can't afford to be clumsy again.

Miller was expecting his drink all evening. He had insisted that Kate should deliver his drink. All he wanted to do was frustrate her. Why? The reason is because she has the same eye colour with his father and so he believes people of same eye colour have same attribute. If his father can be selfish, then Kate can be too.

He was busy with his laptop playing video games when he heard a knock at the door.

"Use the right knocking device," he said from inside.

Kate looked around wondering what knocking device he was talking about.

"I can't find one, sir," Kate responded.

Didn't she knock yesterday and was grant entrance? What fucking knocking device is he talking about?

"I wonder how my drinks will get to me then," he said.

Kate was already getting pissed off. She calmed herself. She thought for a while and decided to use her shoe as the supposed knocking device. She placed the tray gently on the floor, pulled off her shoe and began to use it to knock vigorously.

The knocking became so boisterous and annoying that Miller was forced to open the door. As soon as he opened the door, Kate whose eyes was closed as she knocked with all her might use the shoe to hit Miller's head.

Miller's ouch sound made her open her eyes. Her eyes almost come out of its socket as she stared at Miller with widened eyes.

Her bad day turned worse has just gone worst.

Steph went to Miller's penthouse but met his absence. She became furious. She finally confirmed that Miller is avoiding her. She walked angrily back to her car then dialed Mr Fred's number.

"Uncle," she burst into cracks as soon as Mr Fred picked her call.

"What is wrong, daughter?" he questioned.

"It's Miller again. He is avoiding me," she said amidst tears.

"Is he not at home?" he enquired.

"Yes. He isn't," she replied.

"If the penthouse's key is at the doormat, enter and wait for him. I think he went to attend to a dinner meeting," Mr Fred said.

"Okay Uncle," Steph ended the call and went back to check for the key.

She found it and entered the house.

Mr Fred dialed Miller's number after ending Steph's call.

"What happened?" Miller asked with indifference in his voice.

Mr Fred heard soundtrack of a video game in the background.

"Are you playing video games?" he asked.

"It's none of your business what I'm doing. Why did you call? I'm too busy to have time for your chit chat," Miller said.

Mr Fred hissed in annoyance. "You have got a company at home," he said.

"Home? Which of the homes?" Miller queried with most of his attention on the game he was playing.

"The penthouse," Mr Fred said.

"Fvck! Let Fred die," Miller said pressing the shooting button.

He had named his opponent Fred. The name also drives his wining force.

"What were you saying?" Miller asked his father after gunning down Fred, his opponent.

"You said let Fred die?" Mr Fred questioned to be sure he heard his son well.

"Yes. What about that?" Miller asked.

"My name is Fred. Do you hate me so much that you want me dead? I'm your father, for Holy name," Mr Fred thundered.

Miller laughed mischievously. "Fred is my biggest opponent in the video game world," Miller said.

"That's crazy. You know I told you to stop playing video games," Mr Fred said.

"Who do you think you are to tell me what and what not to do? State the purpose of this call or I might help you press the hang up button," Miller said now concentrating on his father's call.

"You have a company waiting for you at the Penthouse,"

"Who?"

"Steph"

Miller ended the call immediately he heard his father mention that bitch's name.

Mr Fred frowned when he realised his son hung up on him.

"What is it with him and Steph? Steph is a good girl. Why won't he see that?" he wondered.

He put a call across to Steph. Steph picked up almost immediately.

"Uncle?" she said.

"Mill is out of town. He went to Country B for business purpose and he won't be back until next week," he said.

"Okay. I will spend the night here and leave tomorrow," she said sadly.

"Don't worry. I will talk to him when he comes back," he said.

"Okay sir," she said and ended the call.

Mr Fred hissed.

"Why are these young people like this? Always ending calls on elders," he frowned before going upstairs.
