C11 Hot Atmosphere At The Office

Eve has been working overtime at night for the past few days. She had yet to hear that the new employee could work late at night. But because of Mrs. Jenny's strict attitude, Eve didn't dare to argue. Moreover, recently, she had seen her boss woman behaving strangely toward her. There seemed to be something wrong, but she didn't know what.

Even though she had a tough day at the office, Eve considered it a test during her internship. Maybe Vinestra is the company that initially molds its new employees into tough workers. Hence, it immediately imposes heavy work with long overtime hours. Perhaps it's just their way of finding the best of the best, Eve thought, consoling and encouraging herself.

And when Mrs. Jenny became increasingly nasty by blaming her for things that weren't her fault, Eve kept patient.

"What's wrong with her? It's like she's having problems with her husband, oh gosh!" grumbled Eve as she stepped out of the room with a permit to the bathroom, even though Eve avoided the verbal altercation that might have occurred if she had stayed there.

Preoccupied with her grumbling, she didn't realize that she bumped into Dave, and he turned around to keep pace with her.

"Hey, what's wrong?" the kind man asked.

Eve gasped because she had been so immersed in her frustration that she didn't notice her surroundings.

"Oh, you," the girl said with relief.

"You seem to be very upset?" Dave asked curiously. Honestly, he often deliberately passed by the corridor just to see Eve working in her cubicle through the glass window, or maybe he could cross paths like that in the corridor.

"Oh, Mrs. Jenny is getting too much annoying. She's putting a lot of work on me. That's fine if it's necessary. But it feels like she's starting to find fault with me. I was reprimanded just now for a report that wasn't my work. What the hell!" Eve finally told him what made her feel angry that day.

"Oh yeah? Mrs. Jenny doesn't usually do that. Isn't it just your feeling?" probes Dave because, to his knowledge, Mrs. Jenny is a wise and understanding manager to the staff under her. However, her attitude does tend to be firm and authoritative.

"I also feel like she's been different lately. The first day I met her, I could tell she was strict, but she had a good attitude. I don't know what's gotten into her!" Eve went on spoken on about the chronology of events.

"So, do you want to rest in the cafeteria now?" Dave asked then. He glanced at his watch and was surprised that the direction Eve was heading was the office cafeteria.

"Well, I should drink some ice water to cool down my head because otherwise, I might have a tantrum in front of Mrs. Jenny. Then I'll get fired, and that asshole CEO will cheer!" Eve replied.

Hearing Gery's name mentioned, Dave immediately thought of one thing. Maybe Mrs. Jenny was told by Gery to bother Eve. Gery could have asked Mrs. Jenny to make Eve uncomfortable so she would resign from the company because she didn't feel comfortable.

"Why are you silent?" Eve asked because Dave didn't respond to anything and instead looked pensive while walking with her.

"Oh, it's nothing. I think you should be strong and persevere, Eve. You said you were determined to continue working here because of your efforts to get in and pass that cruel selection, right?" Dave began to influence the girl next to him.

"Of course! I'll stay no matter what. No one can get rid of me from here, not even Gery or Mrs. Jenny!" Eve resolved then.

Dave smiled briefly, feeling his admiration for the girl beside him had increased. He didn't notice that his behavior was again being seen by Gery, who was also walking in the same corridor.

"And what are you two doing here during working hours?" Gery's heavy voice scolded with a sharp gaze.

Suddenly Dave and Eve jumped. Dave immediately kept his distance from Eve while Eve squinted and crossed her arms in front of her chest defiantly. Gery appeared when she was in a terrible mood, making her want to spill her frustration on the fierce boss.

"What business does the CEO have interfering with his subordinates in the office, huh? We walked together in a public corridor and could have been going to another part of the office, Sir. That's all!" Eve replied boldly.

"Is that how subordinates like you answer the leader's questions, hm? I knew you were the type of employee who doesn't know how to behave!" Gery pointed a finger at Eve's face.

"Oh, I don't need to politely answer a question that was also asked equally impolitely, sir."

Before the chaos escalated further, Dave finally intervened.

"I'm sorry, Sir. I was about to pick up a file that was being photocopied when I bumped into Eve and said a quick hello.

"Hurry up and do your job; you don't need to say hello to this girl again. Did you hear that? She won't be working here for long, you know? So it's useless if you want to greet her; there's no point!" Gery scolded Dave and then took the time to shoot Eve another scathing glare before turning to leave the two subordinates.

"Huh? You saw that, Dave? Is he going to be crazy, or what? Oh, the more he says I will leave here quickly, the more I will stay here. At least I can prove he can't do whatever he wants!" Eve said sternly and passionately.

Now her resentment towards Mrs. Jenni had evaporated. Compared to her grudge against Gery, Mrs. Jenny's treatment was nothing. She will survive. Yes, she must stay. She resolved in her heart.

Dave shook his head in concern for Eve's seemingly unfortunate fate at the company. He then excused himself and left the girl with his raging thoughts.

And what was Dave's surprise when he returned to the room, and there was already the boss with his fierce face?

"Wasn't my order clear enough, Dave? Didn't I tell you to stay away from Eve, hm? Why do you keep stealing opportunities to be alone with her? Do you want to die?" Gery snapped sharply.

Dave swallowed briefly before replying, "Sorry, Sir. I just accidentally passed by and said a quick hello."

"I'll repeat it. Don't let me see you near Eve again, or you'll also be on the list of people who will soon be fired from Vinestra. You hear that?"
