C14 Madame Daphne's Decision

Gery was quite angry when he learned Eve once again complained to her grandma about Dave's dismissal. However, before he could confront his grandma for being too kind to give Dave a job in another division, he was already preoccupied with the amount of work left behind by his former assistant.

Sofia immediately reminds him that he needs to find another assistant to replace Dave. And the woman who had been considered like her own family by Gery even ignorantly proposed Eve's name. Meanwhile, Mrs. Daphne kept quiet and watched her grandson's reaction, pacing back and forth in confusion.

"How about asking Miss Eve to take Dave's place, Sir?" suggested Sofia.

Of course, Gery was flabbergasted. "Oh, my God! Don't ever mention that name in front of me, Sofia. Otherwise, from now on, I will stop considering you as a wise counselor!" Gery sarcastically scolded.

Sofia let out a long sigh. "But finding a competent assistant is not that easy, Sir. You'll be in trouble if you don't get a replacement for Dave soon--"

"Yes, but it's not that girl I'm going to make to be my assistant. Things could get even more chaotic if she controls my business!" Gery swore and went to the corner of his grandma's room, opened the mini fridge, and grabbed a soda. Yes, there were plenty of drinks available for Gery, as he often spent his break time eating lunch and chatting with Mrs. Daphne there.

Mrs. Daphne and Sofia looked at each other. They both agreed that Sofia's idea was a great way to bring the young couple closer together.

"Listen, Gery. I don't think Sofia's idea is bad. I see Eve is smart and competent. She can help streamline your work. Besides, selecting and training new employees will take a long time. Meanwhile, your work can't wait, could it?" said Mrs. Daphne trying to persuade Gery.

"Big No No, Grandma. You can come up with another name, but I will never partner with that rude girl!" Gery insisted.

"Whatever, then. Go ahead and do whatever you want, Gery. After all, you've never wanted to listen to your old grandma's advice, have you?" This time Mrs. Daphne put on a sad voice and face. It felt like she had to be forcing her grandson this time because time was running out, and she was getting older while Gery had yet to find a wife to suit her desires.

Gery turned his head and was slightly disturbed to see the sad expression on his grandma's face. Although his grandma sometimes treated him like a child and often restrained her in some ways, there was still no one else in this world that she loved more than Mrs. Daphne. She was his only living biological family.

"Grandma ... please don't make me feel guilty. You have to know that Eve and I don't work well together. We can't possibly--"

"Come on. You haven't even tried, Gery. Give the girl a chance, and I'm sure she'll be able to prove her worth to you," interrupted Mrs. Daphne in a confident tone.

And Sofia nodded, adding to the unanimity of their decision.

"Mr. Gery can reinstate her at any time if it is deemed that Miss Eve's performance is not good," Sofia added.

It was left to Gery, who was again forced to lose to his grandma's decision. He doesn't know what will happen next, but he will make things difficult for the girl. Seeing his grandma and even Sofia constantly praising and defending Eve when she was a new intern was unbearable.

After getting Gery resigned, Mrs. Daphne immediately sent Sofia to call Eve and discuss the matter with the marketing manager, Eve's boss.

"What? Oh, well, Ms. Sofia, of course, I don't mind," Mrs. Jenny replied. However, she needed clarification when Sofia brought up Ms. Daphne's order to call Eve instead of Dave to be Mr. Gery's assistant.

Wasn't it just a few days ago that Mr. Gery had asked her to make Eve's job difficult and make her as uncomfortable as possible at Vinestra? Mr. Gery had even said that he wanted to see Eve fired from there immediately. But what's happening now is why the opposite? Eve will instead be appointed to a higher position that will always be close to Mr. Gery himself.

Finally, Eve herself was surprised that she was picked up by Sofia to be escorted to Mrs. Daphne's room. She wondered along the way what she had done that she had to face there again. It feels like she hasn't made any fatal mistakes. Or is this still about the Dave vs. Mr. Gery business? She thought to herself while overthinking.

"Mrs. Sofia, is Mrs. Daphne angry? Have I done something wrong that she doesn't like?" asked Eve finally before they reached the door of the Madam's room. Gery had already walked away from there to cool down his emotions. He obeyed Madame Daphne's orders, but it was reluctantly. Because of Dave's behavior, he now had to endure having a future assistant like Eve. What a disaster!

Sofia seemed to pull a smile on her lips.

"No, Eve. Why would you think that? Mrs. Daphne rarely gets angry with employees. She usually only gets angry with Mr. Gery, hihi." Sofia cracked a joke to make Eve feel more relaxed and less tense. At least Eve should not feel afraid of Mrs. Daphne since the purpose of their meeting this time was to approach.

Looking unsure, Eve nodded, muttering, "Oh, that's good then. But the problem is that I don't know what business she called me for, especially when you came to pick me up."

"Because it's a little urgent business," Sofia replied casually.

"Urgent? Is it still about Dave?" asked Eve timidly. She was worried that the matter would be prolonged and jeopardize her position.

"Yes, you could say like that. Take it easy. Mrs. Daphne will explain it to you later. Don't worry; you've done nothing wrong. Now, please come in," Sofia said as she opened the door to Mrs. Daphne's room now that they had arrived.

Eve gulped as she silently prayed that whatever happened inside would not be bad for her work at Vinestra.

"Good afternoon, Ma'am," Eve greeted as she was immediately greeted by Madame Daphne sitting on the sofa facing the door and flashing her friendly smile.
