C18 Her Plan?

The car screeched to a sudden halt at the exit, the tires' piercing sound slicing through the air, making everyone who heard it shiver. Su Xiaoyu squeezed her eyes shut tightly. Shen Juchuan's anger flared as he saw Su Xiaoyu standing not far from the car's hood.

"What are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Shen Juchuan couldn't help but yell at Su Xiaoyu. If he had reacted a second slower, she wouldn't be standing there unharmed; she might have ended up under his car.

Su Xiaoyu's shoulders tensed as she glared at Shen Juchuan, her voice defiant. "You're the one with a death wish. I'm perfectly fine; why would I want to die?"

"If you don't want to die, why did you suddenly run out like that? Do you realize if I had been driving any faster, you wouldn't be alive right now?"

"Well, nothing happened, did it?" Su Xiaoyu felt wronged by Shen Juchuan's anger. She had acted impulsively, but she was out of options. "You wouldn't take me in, so I had no choice but to do this."

"You think you have a point?" Shen Juchuan gritted his teeth, staring at Su Xiaoyu.

"Of course I do. What's the big deal about letting me stay? A person like you must have plenty of rooms at home. What's wrong with giving me one?" Su Xiaoyu retorted, clearly dissatisfied.

"You're willing to risk your life for a room?" Shen Juchuan's expression turned cold.

"Not exactly..." Su Xiaoyu was taken aback by his words.

"Move," Shen Juchuan said, feeling a wave of frustration.

"No." Su Xiaoyu turned around, dragged her suitcase over, and stood firmly in front of the car.

Shen Juchuan's face darkened as he irritably loosened his tie. Su Xiaoyu, you can do this. After all, he won't actually drive into you. Isn't there a saying: persistence leads to victory?

The standoff continued. Su Xiaoyu, deciding to go all in, plopped her suitcase down with a thud and sat on it. She was tired from standing so long. Shen Juchuan might be comfortable sitting in his car, but why should she suffer?

Shen Juchuan watched her actions and couldn't help but laugh. He realized that Su Xiaoyu was willing to do whatever it took to achieve her goal.

"Hey," Shen Juchuan thought, realizing he wouldn't be making it to the bar tonight. But maybe a different kind of entertainment wouldn't be so bad.

Su Xiaoyu was contemplating her next move if Shen Juchuan refused her, when she heard his voice.

"What do you want?" Su Xiaoyu looked up at him, puzzled.

"Did you really get kicked out?"

"Haven't you figured that out already?" Su Xiaoyu replied, clearly annoyed. Didn't she look pitiful enough?

If Shen Juchuan wanted to laugh at her, he could go ahead. She was determined to stick with him.

"I know now," Shen Juchuan said seriously.

"I don't care. If you don't take me in, you're not going anywhere," Su Xiaoyu declared, acting as if she was ready to throw a tantrum.

"Oh?" Shen Juchuan looked at her with interest. "What will you do if I don't take you in?"

In truth, Su Xiaoyu hadn't thought that far ahead. Her actions were impulsive, and if her brother found out, he'd probably be upset. But she couldn't worry about that now; finding a place to stay was more important.

"Well, I'm a nobody, but you're different, Shen Juchuan. If a reporter saw this, what do you think I'd say?" Su Xiaoyu's eyes darted around, a sly smile appearing on her face.

"Oh? What would you say?" Shen Juchuan leaned against the car door, looking relaxed and ready to listen.

Su Xiaoyu gritted her teeth. This guy was infuriating, still thinking about such things at a time like this.

"I'd say you led me on and then abandoned me," Su Xiaoyu declared loudly.

To her surprise, Shen Juchuan's face broke into an odd smile.

He looked Su Xiaoyu up and down and couldn't help but laugh.

Luckily, it was already after work hours; otherwise, the two of them would have been quite the spectacle.

Shen Juchuan burst into laughter.

“What’s so funny?” Su Xiaoyu frowned, clearly annoyed, as she looked at Shen Juchuan.

“You?” Shen Juchuan finally managed to stop laughing, his gaze sweeping over Su Xiaoyu.

“What are you doing?” Su Xiaoyu glanced down and instinctively shifted her posture.

“You should know my type…” Shen Juchuan said, openly eyeing her. “You’re kind of… underdeveloped, aren’t you?” His laughter grew even more unrestrained.

“What did you say?” Su Xiaoyu stood up angrily.

“Did I say anything wrong?” Shen Juchuan replied with a straight face. “So why should I take you in? I can’t find any reason.”

“Jerk,” Su Xiaoyu muttered under her breath.

“What was that?” Shen Juchuan narrowed his eyes at her.
