C9 He Was Almost Eaten!
One was determined to escape, not wanting to fall into the hands of a sharp-tongued man; the other was intent on capturing the wildcat completely, to prevent any more strange ideas from popping into her head.
The cramped car was filled with tension, the back-and-forth struggle causing it to rock from side to side. To Muh Jiuer, it looked like something indescribable was happening inside the tightly closed car.
Wow, she never imagined that Su Xiaoyu was such a bold girl, daring to steal her brother's thunder.
The "battle" finally ended when Su Xiaoyu bit Shen Juchuan. Of course, it wasn’t because she was quick to escape, but because Shen Juchuan had decided to let her go, fearing that if he pushed too hard, she might run back to her family, making it impossible for him to find her, let alone talk about love.
Without the allure of Shen Juchuan's dangerously handsome face, Jiuer was quick to catch Su Xiaoyu as she stumbled out of the car.
"Heh, do you think your brother will disown you for this?" Jiuer teased with a mischievous grin.
Barely catching her breath, Su Xiaoyu hurriedly pulled Jiuer aside to explain, "My brother is straight. Shen Juchuan himself said there's nothing between them."
Then, remembering something crucial, she added, "But Shen Juchuan is a player. He told me he's into both men and women!"
Oh no... he was just about to devour her...
Could she go home and tell her brother, asking him to stand up for her?
Jiuer was stunned by these revelations: the heir to the Su Group, who was suspected to be gay, was actually straight; while Shen Juchuan, the heir to the Shen Group, was into both men and women?
Shen Juchuan really doesn't have any issues with Su Mo, does he?
Suddenly, Jiuer felt like she had a revelation, and an inexplicable excitement bubbled up inside her. The modern fangirl culture is so powerful, it seems they want to imagine every straight guy as something else.
With a shiver, Jiuer snapped out of her daydream and turned to look at the source of the cold aura behind her. Shen Juchuan stood by his running car, hands casually in his pants pockets, his eyes holding a hint of dangerous mystery.
Su Xiaoyu clutched Jiuer's arm, taking a step back, and said, "What do you want now?" It was as if having Jiuer by her side made her fearless against Shen Juchuan.
Raising an eyebrow, Shen Juchuan suddenly had an idea and said, "You better show up for work tomorrow, or your brother might just switch teams."
"You..." Su Xiaoyu's face flushed with disbelief at how someone could be so infuriating.
Having finally confirmed her brother was straight, she felt she could safely return to the States. But now, with this sharp-tongued man openly threatening to sway her brother, how could she just leave him behind?
And that was exactly the reaction Shen Juchuan was aiming for. Satisfied, he smirked and got back into his car, instructing the driver to head home.
The next day.
Su Xiaoyu, after a sleepless night of contemplation, reluctantly dragged herself into Shen's Group, dark circles under her eyes, due to Shen Juchuan's threat. Luckily, Shen Juchuan spent the entire day in international video conferences, too busy to bother anyone, which put Su Xiaoyu at ease.
But when Su Xiaoyu glanced over Shen Juchuan's upcoming schedule, her good mood vanished. As the CEO of Shen's Group, all his appointments had to be arranged a week in advance. Many impromptu meetings and mandatory events required Su Xiaoyu, as the executive assistant, to adjust and organize everything.
Su Xiaoyu had only been in her new role for a few days and hadn’t quite embraced her responsibilities as an assistant. It wasn’t until now that she realized the afternoon tea on Shen Juchuan’s schedule was with the general manager of Su’s Group—her brother, Su Mo. This revelation sparked a serious sense of urgency in Xiaoyu and, for the first time, she truly appreciated the significance of her position as the CEO’s assistant.
No other role at Shen's Group had such insight into the CEO’s itinerary. Using Shen Juchuan’s dissatisfaction with her newly purchased coffee as an excuse, and with sympathetic glances from her colleagues, Xiaoyu managed to slip out of the office during tea time.
She hailed a cab at the entrance and headed straight to the teahouse listed in the schedule. Declining the host’s offer for a seat, she claimed her friend had already started eating and wandered near the private rooms. After all, the CEO of Shen's Group and the general manager of Su’s Group wouldn’t opt for a noisy dining area over a private room for a little extra cost.
Keeping a close eye on the server entering with the food, Xiaoyu finally located the private room deep within the teahouse where the two were dining. As the server exited, Xiaoyu felt she might have glimpsed something she wasn’t supposed to see.
