C2 Pain, Piercing to the Core
Vomiting my guts out landed Jisoo in the hospital.
"Doctor, what's wrong with me?" Jisoo asked after the examination.
Instead of giving me a direct answer, the doctor threw a curveball, "Are you married?" Jisoo hesitated for a moment and then nodded, "Yeah, I'm married."
"Congratulations," he said, "You're pregnant."
"What?"Jisoo was taken aback, eyes wide, trying to process this bombshell.
The weather had been scorching, and Jisoo has been feeling off, but pregnant? Was I misdiagnosing it as summer struggles or a run-of-the-mill stomach issue?
"When was your last menstrual period?" the doctor asked.
Jisoo did some quick math, and my face went pale, "It's been...delayed by a week."
“That is" the doctor shrugged, sliding the test results my way, "Check it out. Blood tests don't lie; you're indeed pregnant."
Flipping open the report, black and white with a red stamp—early pregnancy. Jisoo closed her eyes, raising the report, "Thanks, doc."
Stepping out into the sun, squinting through tears, Jisoo murmured, "What am I going to do?"
The unknown ahead felt heavier than the puke fest that got her into this mess.
Back at home, Jisoo stared at the positive pregnancy test, her hands trembling. "Pregnant," she muttered, the word echoing through her mind. How did it happen?
Reginald and I hadn't been married long, and we hadn't exactly have real love. What did this mean for us?
The truth was that she had been married to Reginald for less than two months, and when she thought about the number of times they had been intimate, it wasn't many, and those few times were hasty affairs.
Before, she believed Reginald wasn't interested in such matters, and truthfully, she wasn't fond of them either because it was always painful for her... Now, she was beginning to realize. It wasn't the act itself he disliked; it was her!
Those few times, perhaps, were only due to his grandmother's face, reluctantly appeasing her. But now, she was pregnant, and at such a time! What should she do?
At 20 years old, Jisoo was still too young to make such a decision on her own. After careful consideration, she decided to ask Reginald. After all, he was the father of the child.
At that moment, Reginald was still at the hospital. Emily, after her miscarriage, was still hospitalized and needed rest.
To take care of her, Reginald had brought all his work to the hospital room.
When Jisoo arrived, she was stopped at the entrance.
It was Reginald's bodyguards, Ethan and Evan. "Please wait; you can't go in."
"Why?" Jisoo blinked in confusion.
"This... is the Young Master's order."
Reginald's meaning? Was he afraid she would harm Emily, or did he worry that Emily wouldn't be pleased to see her?
Jisoo lowered her head, a mixture of despair and helplessness, fragile yet stubborn.
Clutching her hands tightly, she pleaded, "I won't go in. Please tell him I need to see him. It's urgent."
The two brothers exchanged a glance. "Alright, we'll do that."
Ethan went inside and conveyed the message to Reginald.
"No," was Reginald's indifferent response after hearing it, a chilly sneer accompanying the words. "Tell her not to come near the ward! Don't disturb Emily's rest!"
"Understood, Young Master." Ethan turned and relayed the message to Jisoo.
Hearing it, Jisoo's face, already ashen, lost all color. Clenching her fists, shaking uncontrollably.
"Madam, you should leave quickly! Miss Emily might wake up at any moment; it won't be good if she sees you."
"I'll leave now." Jisoo bit her lip, but the force was too strong, and her mouth bled. She was oblivious to it.
Walking out of the surgical building, she stopped. No, she couldn't leave!
Tomorrow, she would board the plane, sent abroad!
In a foreign land, unfamiliar and lost, she had no idea what to do!
So, she stood at the door, waiting for Reginald, who always managed to come out.
As time ticked away, Jisoo's legs grew numb. The sky darkened, and then it began to pour.
Just when Jisoo thought Reginald might stay overnight tonight, he emerged!
The soft light bathed the man, accentuating his handsome face, exuding an air of elegance and nobility.
"Reginald!" Jisoo hurriedly ran towards him.
Reginald frowned, "Tsk, stop her!"
"Yes!" Halfway there, Jisoo was blocked, unable to get close to him.
She urgently shouted, "Reginald, I have something important to tell you!"
However, Reginald didn't spare her a glance.
The driver parked the car under the steps, and Reginald walked straight to it, opening the door and bending to get in.
Jisoo couldn't believe it; she yelled, "Reginald! I beg you! I really have something important to say!"
But he ignored her, closing the car door and instructing the driver, "Drive."
As the car pulled away, Jisoo's eyes widened, watching it get farther and farther.
"Reginald!" In that moment, Jisoo found a surge of strength from somewhere, forcefully pushing away Liang Cheng, who was blocking her, and catching up.
"Reginald! Reginald! Stop the car! I'm begging you, stop the car! Wuuu..."
Running too fast, air rushed into her lungs, causing a piercing pain!
But the car drove further and further away. Finally, when she reached the entrance gate, Jisoo slipped, thud, falling to the ground.
"Ah..." Jisoo cried out in pain.
Inside the car, Ethan glanced back, whispering, "Young Master, Madam fell."
"Oh?" Reginald scanned the rearview mirror, seeing Jisoo lying on the ground, completely soaked. He furrowed his brow for a moment but soon dismissed it. "Just a fall; she's not made of paper. What could happen? Drive faster! So she won't catch up and play tricks again!"
"Yes, Young Master." The speed increased, and Jisoo watched, her eyes gradually losing their light.
She pulled herself up with effort, struggling to stand. The rain mixed with the blood oozing from the cuts on her delicate arms and palms, forming a gruesome scene.
At that moment, intense pain, bone-piercing pain!
Jisoo closed her eyes, tears flowing like the pouring rain, uncontrollable...
Back at the Golden Line Villa area, Jisoo was physically and mentally exhausted. Without taking a shower, she collapsed on the sofa in her wet clothes.
What path did she have left to take? Who could help her?
Suddenly, Jisoo remembered something and took out her phone.
Instead of going through her contacts, she pressed a series of numbers engraved in her memory. After pressing, she dialed.
The phone rang, and Jisoo held her breath, faintly hopeful.
"Hello?" A woman's voice came from the other end.
In an instant, the light in Jisoo's eyes extinguished.
"Hello, who is this? Speak up, or I'll hang up."
The call ended the next second.
Jisoo tightly gripped her phone, biting her lip so hard it bled, unaware of it.
She threw the phone away, burying her head in the pillow.
The entire night passed in a haze. She didn't know when she fell asleep. When she woke up, her head was splitting, and the doorbell kept ringing, growing more ear-piercing with each ring.
Perhaps becoming impatient, the door opened by itself.
Reginald entered, his handsome face darkened. He took a step inside.
