Yhera could not believe what she just saw. It has been years since the last time she saw Jethross. The man seemed to age fast. She clearly saw it in his face now. He looked old and unsophisticated and his wife ... well, Yhera stopped herself from saying anything demeaning. She was not raised like that. She just then shrugged off her shoulders and drove her Montero. Atty. Yhera did not feel anything anymore to Jethross, not even hate.

As she arrived home, she told her Mom about Jethross. Her Mom’s anger immediately has been shown on her face.

“Good thing, I was not with you when you saw him. It has been long that I really wanted to slap his face.” Atty. Yhera’s Mom said with sparks of anger in her eyes.

“I’m okay now Mom, so relax, I moved on already. It was good that I saw him because I realized that I have really moved on from such pains that he caused me, four years ago.” Atty. Yhera smiled and put her arm around her Mom’s shoulders.

Few days have passed after the incidental meeting with Jethross at the bakeshop, the latter visited Atty. Yhera in her office. She was then busy finishing a Petition for Certiorari, which is due to be filed the next day, when her secretary informed her that someone in the reception area is looking for her.

Mila handed over to Atty. Yhera her note containing the details of her visitor, “Apology Atty. I already told him that you are so busy but he told me that he really needs to talk to you.”

Her eyes grew big when she read the name of her visitor written on Mila’s note paper, “Mila, it’s okay, please let him in.”

“Jethross, what brought you here?”Yhera slowly looks up and focus her eyes on the man who just entered her office. He motioned for him to take the seat in front of her office table.

The man looked at Yhera in deep pain, “Yhera, it has been years, but I have not personally sought your forgiveness for what I have done to you. My sincerest apology Yhera.”

“I have moved on already Jethross, I have forgiven you long time ago. There is no need for you to do this.”

“Still I need to. I owe you that. God indeed knows how to punish people who wronged someone else and blessed those who have been hurt and oppressed.” Jethross tried smiling however the melancholy and guilt can be clearly seen in his face.

Hestia removed her anti-radiation glasses and put it down on the table, “Jethross, God never punished anyone, and it is us who punishes ourselves for our wrong choices in life. Nevertheless, having someone like your wife is a blessing right?, She seems like a very kind and loving woman.”

Total sadness flashed the man’s eyes, “She is battling with Leukemia for a year now.”

“Oh my, Jethross sad to hear that,” Yhera covered her mouth with her hands in total shock.

“Yes, she is just brave to keep holding on.”

“It must have been so devastating especially to your children Jethross?”

“We only have one. She is a special child and unaware with everything.” Jethross replied after a deep breath.

Another shocking truth that almost made Atty. Yhera embraced the man in her front out of pity. She however controlled herself and just looked at Jethross in disbelief. Oh my what life have done to him?

Yhera has been affected with what happened to Jethross. She remembered cursing him when she was at the heights of her anger when she found out that the man have cheated her. Atty. Yhera shook her head and made a little prayer seeking forgiveness of what she has said before.

Suddenly her mobile phone rings.

“Hello Mr. Yee, good afternoon.”

“Atty. Yhera, I received you Engagement Proposal as my personal lawyer and your law firm as our Company’s retained counsel. We have no questions and we are going to sign it now. Will bring to you the documents once done,” the voice at the other line is full of enthusiasm and somehow Yhera’s mood lightens up.

“Wow, that’s nice of you Mr. Yee!”

The Senior Partner of their law firm upon hearing the good news, asked her legal secretary to order pizza at the nearby Shakey’s for celebration. Everyone claps their hands and congratulated Atty. Yhera for a new big client.

As expected, Mr. Seigfred Yee visited Atty. Yhera’s law firm the next day, personally bringing with him the signed documents.

The Senior Partner teased him, “Mr. Yee, Thank you for personally bringing the signed documents. Atty. Yhera is so strong to the CEO/President of SYS, Inc.”

Seigfred laughed and pointed at his heart, “So strong here Attorney.”

“Ayyiieee”, every staff of the firm exclaimed giggling.

“But of course, I also have great trust in your law firm and to your lawyers and staff here”, the President/CEO of SYS, Inc. continued with full smile in his lips.

Atty. Yhera was not able to say NO to Seigfred’s dinner invitation thereafter. She nodded with a smile and said yes. Siegfred’s expression when she agreed was unfathomable. His smile was so wide as he said thank you to her.

No matter how she would deny, Seigfred Yee is slowly getting a space in her heart. Atty. Yhera put her hand on her chest and murmured, “Open your heart Yhera and try again.”

As her best friend Buddy have said, it is not right to deny him without giving him the chance to prove his intentions; Yhera realized that too now.

“What?!” Tony’s eyes are as wide as the glass’ mouth he is holding upon hearing Yhera’s story regarding Jethross.

“Oh boy, it is not good to say so, but karma is real.” Buddy on one hand exclaimed shaking his head.

Yhera could not contain the sadness in her voice, “Yes friends, right now, all I feel for Jethross is pity. I have forgiven him for so long already. No grudge or whatever now. With all the blessings I am receiving now, hate has no space in my heart anymore.”

Buddy, tapped his friend’s shoulder, “That’s my girl. Good for you and sorry for Jethross.”

Tony stood up with a big smile, “Let us celebrate for your new found client and lover Atty. Yhera, Ayyiiee.”

All of them laughed at Tony’s joke but they really decided to have dinner outside. Yhera treated her good buddies and as Buddy joke, they will paint the town red.

After dinner, the three even went to a decent and cosy bar in the north and had some beers. Atty. Yhera who does not usually drinks liquors was forced to drink one bottle of San Mig Light upon the insistence of Tony and Buddy.

Atty. Yhera even invited her friends for them to have some coffee at the nearby Starbucks Coffee. The two men eagerly nodded. They indeed need a coffee to sober.

As they were having coffee already at the Starbucks, Atty. Yhera’s mobile phone suddenly rings. As she looked at it, Buddy who is beside her, laughed when he saw who is calling.

“Oh boy, it’s Mr. sweet and billionaire lover boy.” Buddy rolled his eyes and giggled.

Both Atty. Yhera and Tony laughed at the reaction of Buddy.

“What are you doing girl, answer the phone!” Buddy urged his lawyer friend, who at the moment is just staring at her ringing phone.
