C19 Protect the luna

CHAPTER 19

Everyone's eyes went in the direction where the dagger came from.

"Protect the Luna!" Kent announced swiftly and some of the guards rushed out of the celestial hall in search of the assassin.

"Sire, are we proceeding with the wedding?" One of the elders asked.

Alpha Devon had a mean look in his eyes.

"This wedding will have to wait. I've got other obstacles to tackle" Alpha Devon said seriously.

"What! Sire, you can't postpone your wedding because those pubs have been held captive. I will go save them but you have to proceed with your wedding. You just have a few steps to complete the wedding rituals" Kent suggested.

"Celina looks after the Luna while Kent and I are away. Don't let her leave your sight not even for a second" Alpha Devon instructed strictly.

"Yes, sire," Celina said and they left the celestial hall.

A location was sent to Alpha Devon.

"This is too much of a risk to take. Their goal is to get Emma and you're giving them the privilege to do that" Kent said as he drove the car.

"If I proceed with the wedding, those little kids will get killed, and what then? I can't stain my reputation with their innocent blood. I can always save Emma since we've been connected already" Devon said with a blank expression.

"What do you mean? You didn't even complete the wedding rituals" Kent said and he had a flashback of how the candle he was holding with Emma fell on the altar as the force of the dagger made them drop it.

"She's the Luna already but only a few people know of that" Alpha Devon said with a half smile.

Kent smirked and placed his feet on the brakes, increasing their speed.

They arrived at the location that was sent to them.

"Quite a shady place for a coward" Alpha Devon scoffed as they got into the building.

"Sire, do you think anyone's here? The quietness is suspicious" Kent uttered.

"They're trying to play hide and seek. So childish" Devon said with a shrug.

"What a coward! You should show your face already and stop wasting our time. You've got the nerve to drag the alpha down here so I think you should sum up a little courage to show your face here" Kent screamed and it echoed in the building.

"You don't have to raise your voice, I can hear you pretty loud and clear. How dare you call me a coward when you're nothing better than me" The voice echoed.

"That's beta Max" Alpha Devon whispered to Kent.

"What! Why would he do something so shabby like this?" Kent questioned in a low tone.

"So smart of you Alpha Devon. You ruined the whole fun, I was planning on making this a little mysterious but you ruined everything" Max said seriously as he walked down the stairs.

"Cut the chess and tell me exactly why you kidnapped those innocent pubs without any reason" Alpha Devon asked coldly.

"Of course, I had my reasons and that's why I held them captive. I know so well how protective you are of your pack members" Max said with a malicious smile.

Alpha Devon scoffed and placed his hands into his pocket.

"Is Grayson finally revealing his true colors why do I have the feeling this isn't his way of doing things? Grayson isn't this childish when he gets desperate" Alpha Devon mocked.

"Childish? Do you want something serious?" Max asked seriously Devon walked closer to him and he silently sniffed Max.

Alpha Devon turned to Kent and signaled him on what to do next and Kent left that spot in a blink of an eye without Max's notice.

"Stop wasting my time and get serious. I get bored easily so get straight down to business. Were you so desperate to break my wedding with Emma halfway? What's your motive already?" Alpha Devon asked seriously.

"Give Emma to me and I will hand over your warriors and pub to you. There are no two ways about it" Max ordered and alpha Devon laughed loudly.

"I might get impatient when trying to save each member of my clan but you've got it all wrong. I'm not giving Emma up easily so what do you plan on doing to them? The least you could do is kill them then what? You will only get haunted for the rest of your life because you have no idea what happens to those who kill innocent pubs from the grey pack" Alpha Devon threatened.

"I don't have the conscience to face all that. I've got this far to get what I want and I'm not letting you be an obstacle to my responsibilities" Max said seriously.

"Do you wish to end your life here? I can't find your backup here, are you planning on leaving your alpha already?" Alpha Devon asked coldly and his phone started ringing.

He brought out the phone from his pocket without looking at the caller.

"Sire, Luna Emma is missing!" Celina said anxiously over the phone and Alpha Devon's eyes went wide open in shock.

"What! How did that happen? I told you not to let her leave your sight" Alpha Devon yelled over the phone as he glared at Max

Sire, really succeeded with his plans. Max uttered in his head and a satisfying smile appeared on his face Alpha Devon's claws grew out angrily as he read the look on Max's face.

Alpha Devon gave max a deep cut on his chest swiftly and Max was caught off guard so he couldn't fight back. Devon walked out of the building angrily.

Kent saved the warriors and pubs already then returned to the pack's house with them. With the help of the alpha's help of description, he rescued them.

"Celina, what the hell happened?" Kent asked seriously and Alpha Devon barged into the meeting room.

He grabbed Celina by the neck.

"Are you also in colludes with the rest of them?" Alpha Devon asked angrily as he tightened his grip.

"Sire, I think you need to calm down. We can't come up with a brilliant solution if you're this furious" Kent said and Devon dropped Celina.

She held her neck, as she caught her breath.

"How on earth did Emma do missing under your watch? You've never been this clumsy. What the hell happened to you?" Alpha Devon yelled and Celina stood up.

"Luna Emma was pressed because it felt like she was under some pressure so she decided to use the restroom. I stood guard at the washroom door but I have no idea how she left the washroom without my notice" Celina explained and Alpha Devon clenched his fist.

"Grant, that son of a gun!" Alpha Devon cursed as he bite his lower lips frustratedly.

"Alpha Grant?" Celina questioned and Kent nodded.

"Other than alpha Devon, alpha Grant is the only one with the ability to make werewolves hallucinate. It's a mind control trick. I think you were mind-controlled" Kent explained.

Alpha Devon turned to Celina with a mean look.

"This was the exact reason why I told you to learn how to control minds" Alpha Devon scolded then walked out of the meeting room angrily.

Kent ran after him.

"Sire, what do you have in mind?" Kent asked curiously.

"What else? We're heading to shred pack. I think this time around, he chose to side with the silver lake pack" Alpha Devon said as they head to his car.

"I guess that's why Max was behaving weirdly and suspiciously. It was their plan all along" Kent said and they got to Devon's car.

"Let me drive" Kent offered and Alpha Devon nodded negatively.

Then they both got into the car and drove down to shred pack.

They got to shred pack territory and it was heavenly guarded.

"Put a call across to Alpha Grant, I wish to have an audience with him," Alpha Devon said to the senior guard at the gate.

"I'm sorry but the alpha strictly forbids anyone from entering the shred pack for the next six days," The guard said.

Alpha Devon bites his lower lips frustratedly.

"In the next six days, the blood moon will be approaching. It wouldn't be advisable to come back here on the first day of the blood moon" Kent uttered and Alpha Devon punched the steering wheel.

I can't feel Emma around either. I think she's been locked up somewhere deep. Alpha Devon said in his head worriedly.

"Sire, should we head to silver lake pack? I think alpha Grant is only using this as an excuse to confirm our suspicions" Kent said.

"Let's just head back home. Heading over to silver pack now will only bring humiliation to my dignity. He might as well not have Emma with him but he will use my presence as an excuse to taunt me. I will think of something when we get back to the grey pack" Alpha Devon said without no feelings.

Silver lake pack...

Max is laying on his bed. He's looking very gaunt because he lost much blood from Alpha Devon's cut.

"How did you manage to get yourself this badly injured?" Grayson scolded.

"It's worth it at least. You have Emma in your possession now, all we need is to conceal the prophecy" Max said faintly.

"Putting your life on the line isn't worth it. Remember, Alpha Grant said he will call the shots so was it worth it? He's the one who has Emma in his possession and he's not giving her away until he gets what he wants. What if Emma refuses to cooperate till the blood moon arrives then what" Grayson uttered frustratedly.

"Now this is why I protested against his request to call the shots. This isn't fair, we took all the risk and he's getting all the benefits. This is one of the worst deals I've ever agreed on in my whole life" Max complained bitterly and he started to cough.

"Hold your breath. You don't have to lose your cool, you're in no position to do that. Take a look at yourself. I'm pretty sure the step you took on dragging Devon out must have looked very childish" Grayson smirked.

"Very childish. I wanted to play cool but ended up getting played instead. Alpha Devon seems to be quite threatening than we think. My next encounter with him must be a very challenging one, I hate losing face to my enemy" Max uttered faintly.

"You don't have to go through that to show him who's more powerful. I just need Emma to uplift the curse and I will become the true Alpha everyone doubted me to be and no one will go against your order" Grayson said with a malicious smile.

Three days later...

Max has recovered a little bit.

"I can't believe Alpha Grant will be this shallow. He's still not willing to give Emma to us" Max uttered angrily.

"Getting the secret techniques from Emma will be similar to slitting her throat. Grant has no idea, how big of a task he's asking for" Grayson mocked as he sat next to Max on a cushion.

"You're extraordinarily calm for this situation right now," Max said staring at him.

"Of course, I have to keep my cool, I don't wish to lose control of my powers again. The blood moon is approaching pretty fast but something isn't right about Devon either" Grayson uttered as he put some thoughts into it.

"Why?" Max asked.

"He hasn't come to silver pack to look for Emma and he's suspiciously so calm about the whole situation. He didn't even send out a spy to look for Emma. It feels like he knows where she is already"

"Or he's planning on how to invade our pack soon? If that happens we don't stand a chance of fighting back, since you're controlling your powers so it doesn't get out of control" Max uttered and Grayson looked at him.

Grayson's phone rang and it was a call from Grant.

"Are you giving Emma to me now?" Grayson asked over the phone.

"Not even in your wildest dreams. She hasn't told me anything yet so you have to wait" Grant said sarcastically.

Grayson's eyes turned yellow and his claws grew out as he lost his cool.
