C8 Alpha's maid

CHAPTER 8

Emma went back to the Grey pack with the help of someone who offered her a lift.

She headed straight to the alpha's room.

"Where do you think you're going? You're still on vacation so you're not allowed to see the Alpha" Kent cut in from nowhere as he blocked Emma from getting through the alpha's chambers.

"I'm the alpha's maid and it's only right of me to take care of him now that he's not in a good shape," Emma said seriously with a bow.

"I think you're mistaking something, you're not even a maid but a slave. You're lucky, you were granted the right to even be in the same space with the alpha. Why are you back so early from your vacation?" Kent asked coldly and Emma glared at him.

"Am I supposed to give a reason for cutting my vacation short? I'm dedicated to my work and it's improper for me to leave when I still have a lot to do" Emma explained coldly.

"The Alpha isn't around. He traveled"

"The Alpha was not in a good shape so how can you tell me he traveled? Are you trying to stop me from fulfilling my duties as his slave?" Emma asked seriously and Kent walked closer to her.

"You're growing some wings, just so you know, you're no longer a princess so watch the way you speak to me before I lose my cool" Kent threatened.

"That's enough! Emma why are you here?" Alpha Devon asked as he walked up to them from behind.

"Sire, why are you not in your room?" Kent asked curiously.

"I had to take care of something" Alpha Devon replied.

"Sire, you look completely fine now," Emma said in surprise which stopped her from confronting the alpha with the words in her mind.

"Were you expecting to find the alpha on his deathbed? How evil of you to think that way" Kent fired.

"Emma, just like I said yesterday. You don't have to come to work for me for the time being. So you're still on vacation, you shouldn't disobey my orders like this" Alpha Devon said coldly and then walked away, Kent followed.

If I wish to approach the Alpha, I will have to wait till the beta is away. He keeps on getting on my nerves, why does he have to keep on ridiculing me when I'm actually in this state because of them? Emma said in her head angrily.

Alpha Devon and Beta Kent went to the alpha's study.

"Just like I suspected, it seems like princess Emma knows of the secret fighting technique. Her friend Charlotte fought without using any of it. I think she was being cautious as well" Kent uttered and Alpha Devon stared at him a bit flabbergasted.

"Emma?" Alpha Devon asked with a blank expression.

"The silver lake pack is making a move already. They rescued Emma and Charlotte before Emma used the technique" Kent uttered.

"What does the silver lake pack got to do with this? Why are they suddenly interfering? Are they also looking for ways to destroy Grey pack?" Alpha Devon asked with a frown.

"It's mysterious, how they attack their opponent in secret. I think other packs got the news about the shadow pack's secret fighting skills. The death of Alpha Falcon was beneficial to other packs" Kent said and Alpha Devon sat down staring at space.

"Sire, what do you think should be our next move?" Kent added.

"We won't do anything. Let's just sit and watch how things go. We should see what their intentions are first before attacking" Alpha Devon said calmly and Kent gave him a curious look.

"They have Charlotte in their possession, they might use her as bait to get Emma out of here" Kent informed.

"How did they manage to get the beta's daughter? Why did you allow that to happen?" Alpha Devon asked frustratedly.

Kent exhaled sharply before answering.

"They came acting to have good intentions and me showing up will only make me the suspicious one and the foolish person I've ever come across is Emma. She allowed strangers to take her friend away"

"So foolish and naive of her" Alpha Devon said angrily as he clenched his fist.

"Guards!" Alpha Devon called out and two guards came into his study.

"You called for us sire," One of the guards said.

"Get Emma here immediately" Alpha Devon ordered and they bowed before leaving.

Kent stared at the alpha for some minutes before chipping in.

"What do you plan on doing next?" Kent asked slowly.

"You seem to like it whenever I push Emma to the edge" Alpha Devon smirked.

"That's only because she's the daughter of a traitor and anyone who serves as a threat to you is my enemy" Kent uttered.

"Then you don't have to worry about a thing. I can't fall into the trap of the silver lake pack, I'm too wise for that. Grayson is just too cunning for my liking, he has been plotting in secret just so I don't notice but it seems like he's finally into business" alpha Devon said with a malicious smile.

Emma was brought into the alpha's study by the guards.

"Sire, you called for me" Emma uttered.

"Where's your friend Charlotte? I remember telling you the both of you are allowed to go on a vacation but how come she isn't back yet?" Alpha Devon asked looking away and Emma glared at Kent.

"We got attacked by some masked werewolves and she got badly injured so she's being treated somewhere nearby. Charlotte will come back when she recovers" Emma explained.

"So foolish. She just escaped from hell and you think she will come back here of her free will? You're not just naive but very foolish as well" Kent cursed and Emma frowned glaring at him.

"Charlotte won't leave me here alone so she will come back for me," Emma said holding back her anger.

"Should we make a bet on that?" Kent asked coldly.

"I'm talking to the alpha for goodness sake so stay out of it. You stood there and could do nothing so heartless of you. I guess your plan to get us killed got ruined" Emma yelled losing her cool and alpha Devon grabbed her by the neck.

"He's my beta, better show him some respect and it's not like he is wrong. You're foolish, you keep making things harder for me. I should have killed you alongside your parents" Alpha Devon said furiously then shoved Emma away and she bruised her arm on the floor.

Emma glared at the Alpha as she gasped in some air.

"I sent beta Kent to go watch over you girls but it seems his help wasn't needed. Why am I even explaining this to you? Emma if your friend happens to become a threat to Grey pack, you will have to give her up so go to your room and think hard about your decision for leaving her to strangers. You should pray to the moon goddess to make things work in your favor. You can leave now" Alpha Devon ordered and Emma stood up sluggishly then left the study holding her wounded arm.

Kent swallowed hard as Emma left the room. Alpha Devon turned to him angrily.

"You were sloppy this time around. How on earth did you manage to get yourself seen? How can you make such a clumsy mistake? Emma may be my slave but don't forget she's the daughter of the late Alpha, she still has some supreme senses" Alpha Devon said seriously.

"Even more reason why she is a threat to you? What if her powers get awakened someday? Do you plan on giving in to her like that? We should finish up what we started in the first place" Kent said coldly.

Alpha Devon walked to the door without uttering any word and he stopped walking.

"Your only duty right now is to protect Emma" Alpha Devon instructed coldly then walked away.

The Alpha head to the maid's quarters and he heard Emma's cry, as she winced in pain because of her injury.

Such a weak soul. Alpha Devon said in his head and walked back to his chambers.

He placed a call across to the healer.

"Yes, sire," The healer said over the phone.

"You should attend to someone. I think she got hurt pretty badly" Alpha Devon said over the phone.

"Sire, I'm your healer. It's against the rules that I nurse someone else. But I will recommend some other healer, sire" The healer said.

"It's an order so you have to obey. You don't dare go against my order and If I wanted some other nurse, I will have called one myself" Alpha Devon said coldly and hung up.

I'm hoping, I'm not going out of my way to help Emma. Why do I feel sorry for her? I'm not supposed to be attached to her. Alpha Devon was baffled in his mind.

'It will be a great idea if you accept Emma as your mate. She will make the best Luna since she has the skills of the late Alpha Falcon "Scott cut in.

"You're suddenly speaking up. You've been silent for a while now, I guess Emma is the only one who interests you"

'I'm having difficulties connecting with her wolf since you've placed a barrier' Scott said and Alpha Devon scoffed.

"Emma means nothing to me. I'm only using her to get what I want. There's no way I will develop feelings for a traitor's daughter" Alpha Devon said seriously.

'If you were planning on just using her, you would have rejected her as your mate but what's stopping you from doing all of it now?' Scott questioned and Alpha Devon frowned.

Charlotte was brought back to the silver lake pack and she has been treated, she's laying on a bed in a very cozy room still asleep.

"She's becoming too comfortable. Is this your intention from the beginning?" Max asked calmly.

Grayson smiled and then walked to the window.

"I'm not in a hurry, since it's all going to be mine soon," Grayson said with a half smile.

"You can't be nice and still get everything you want. And that's why Alpha Devon conquered the shadow regardless of how powerful they are" Max uttered.

Grayson frowned on hearing alpha Devon's name.

"He's only powerful because I allowed him to. Devon is nothing compared to me, we might have attended the same academy together but that doesn't make him any different from my enemies. Max do you know the problem I have with you? You love comparison" Grayson said with a mean look.

Max cleared his throat looking away.

"The longer you wait for Emma to crawl in here, the faster you lose your main goal. Emma isn't the only thing we're after, we're after her whole clan and the crown of Alpha Devon. Since he's your biggest rival, you shouldn't take things lightly. Everyone knows how brilliant alpha Devon is" Max uttered coldly.

"He might be smart but I'm smarter. Devon is only hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Emma might end up making him lose his crown. I'm certain I'm not losing to anyone, not this time around" Grayson said calmly then walked to his table and had a sip from his cup of tea.

Grayson Berry the Alpha of silver lake pack grew up with the hopes of making Emma his someday but in a blink of an eye, his first love became alpha Devon's fiancee.

If only I held on tight to my goals of making you mine. You wouldn't be going through all this at the last minute but I'm not letting Devon get away with this. He either surrenders or I destroy him with my life on the line. Grayson said in his head with full determination.

"I will go check up on Charlotte," Max said.

Grayson turned to him.

"You will have to put up with everything regardless of your cold feelings towards any she-wolf you must be kind to Charlotte" Grayson instructed.
