C9 Beautiful as always

CHAPTER 9

Emma got a message from one of the maids that someone wants to have a word with her.

Emma headed out of the pack house almost heading to the backwoods.

How brave of me to come out here all alone? I'm forgetting the fact that I still got some enemies hanging around. Emma said in her head.

"I'm glad, you chose to come to me," Grayson said out of nowhere as he walked to her.

"Where's Charlotte?" Emma asked curiously and Grayson smiled.

"She's safe now. I came to share my suggestion with you" Grayson said slowly and Emma stared at him intensively.

Grayson stared at Emma and smiled.

"Still so beautiful as always" Grayson complimented out of the blue and Emma took a step backward as she read suspicion in Grayson's tone.

"Is that a suggestion or compliment?" Emma asked with a blank expression.

"Emma, you can't live this way for the rest of your life. You don't deserve any of this, I'm pretty sure your parents aren't happy with any of this" Grayson said in a low tone.

"Who on earth are you? You know nothing about me and if you came all the way here to tell me that then I will appreciate it if you just take your leave. You came here without Charlotte. I'm Nothing bad happened to her right?" Emma asked seriously.

"If you don't trust me then you should come to check out for yourself. You gave her to me, I'm pretty sure you're brave enough to come with me to silver lake pack"

"We have technology now, I don't have to endanger my life just to act brave. I want to see Charlotte on video call" Emma ordered and Grayson smiled as he brought out his phone from his pocket.

"My presence isn't triggering anything. I feel hurt by your actions" Grayson said slowly as he placed a call across to Max.

Emma raised her eyebrows a bit confused about what Grayson meant by his words.

"Why are you acting as we've met before? Before you even insinuate anything, I've never met or seen you before and I have no idea who you are and why you're suddenly trying to pull in a strange string" Emma cautioned.

"Max, can you hand the phone over to Charlotte? Emma wants to speak with her"Grayson said over the video call.

"I can't believe you're taking orders from her now" Max uttered sarcastically then gave the phone to Charlotte who was laying on the bed having lunch.

Grayson gave his phone to Emma as well.

"Charlotte" Emma called out almost in tears.

"Emma, how are you doing? I'm quite surprised the alpha hasn't come looking for me. I was worried he might hurt you if he finds out what you did" Charlotte said over the phone.

"What can he possibly do to me? You didn't run away, you were only taken away to get some treatment but how are you doing now? Your injuries are all healed right?" Emma asked emotionally.

"Don't worry about anything okay, I'm being treated nicely over here, I had no idea we still have such nice and caring werewolves and I would love it if you join me here. Life at the shadow pack is hell" Charlotte suggested and Emma walked away from Grayson.

"What the hell are you talking about Charlotte? Don't forget you told me you will get back here when you recover. I hope the comfortable life you're having over there isn't doing anything to your brain and reasoning. We've got a lot of things to accomplish and we can't do any of it if we're away from the shadow pack" Emma reminded with a frown.

"I'm sorry Emma, but I don't wish to go through a life-and-death situation once again. Since I've escaped successfully, I wish to give myself a second chance to live. What if we push through with our plans and it ends up flopping then we will get killed just like our families" Charlotte said almost in tears.

Emma sucks her teeth and looked away frustratedly.

"I get it, you're scared but what happened to the vows and promises we made to accomplish?"

"Emma, why do you think Alpha Devon saved us in the first place? Do you think making us his slaves is his only agenda? Of course not, he's going to rip out our hearts someday when he finally get what he wants" Charlotte said and hung up the call.

"Charlotte!" Emma screamed on the phone.

"Don't you think she made the right decision? If you have unfinished business here, tell me about it and I will help you. All you need to do is get married to me" Grayson said walking closer to Emma.

Emma glared at him.

"Did you lose your senses before coming here? Take me to Charlotte, I have to bring her back with me. You must have brainwashed her, she's not thinking straight anymore" Emma said completely in disarray.

"I can only take you with me if you agree to be my bride, that's the custom of silver lake pack"

"That only applies to the royals. I have no idea how you got into shadow pack without being caught but before anyone notices I'm missing, take me to Charlotte" Emma said desperately and someone grabbed her by the waist from behind.

Grayson raised his face and a mean look appeared on his face.

"What the hell are you doing in my territory? This is so beneath you to go through behind woods just to meet up with my slave" Alpha Devon uttered coldly with no emotions.

"This doesn't look like a forbidden boundary so I found myself here. I'm trying to get back what belongs to me and I don't mind doing shamefully way, I'm not that prideful, to begin with," Grayson said with a smile.

Devon scoffed and grabbed Emma, even closer to himself.

"It has always been a habit of yours. Taking things that don't belong to you shamelessly" Devon cursed.

"Sire, do you know each other? This conversation doesn't seem to be going in the right direction" Emma pointed out and Devon smiled at her as they had eye contact.

"You think I wouldn't notice, you went out? I've got my full focus on you Emma" Alpha Devon said with a malicious smile then he turned to Grayson.

"Grayson, you should drop that dream of yours. I'm not letting you have her, that's never. Emma is my mate and my woman" Devon said in a deep voice.

"You should show me some respect when calling my name. I don't fight over things I want, I get whatever I want at my will" Grayson said and walked away.

Emma was about to run after him but Devon held her by the neck as he leaned forward to her ears.

"What about Charlotte? Please send her back to me" Emma screamed so Grayson will hear her but he didn't utter a word as he walked out of their sight.

"How dare you try to disobey me? Were you planning on running away with that son of a gun? I told you, I won't take things lightly if your friend becomes a threat to my clan so I'm hoping you keep that in mind and never meet up with him ever again" Alpha Devon threatened to whisper in Emma's ears then he shoved her away.

Just then one of the guards ran to Alpha Devon.

"Sire, Alpha Grayson is at the pack's meeting hall" The guard announced.

"He hasn't left yet. I guess we still haven't settled our scores yet" Alpha Devon uttered almost in a whisper then head back to the pack house.

"Why are they all acting mysterious? And did he just say, Alpha Grayson?" Emma gasped out in shock.

If he's the Alpha of the silver lake pack then he has the right to make Charlotte his maid as well. How did I end up giving my friend away to strangers? Emma muttered in her head in disbelief.

'I think your plan right now should be how you should get Charlotte back to Shadow pack. The both of you still haven't accomplished your goals and it's unlike Charlotte to leave things unfinished' Rose said and Emma exhaled sharply.

"Escaping will only make things even worse. I might end up being a rogue or get forcefully wedded to Alpha Grayson. That's not the way I plan to exact my revenge" Emma replied.

Alpha Devon got to the pack's meeting hall.

"Do you still have something left to say? If you're here to persuade me to give Emma to you then I don't think you're supposed to be here" Alpha Devon said coldly as he took his seat.

"I'm not here to persuade you. I'm here to get her back. By the rules of the shadow pack, you're not supposed to take Emma with you since she's a Royal you were supposed to silence her alongside her family but since you didn't do that. You can't keep her in your territory" Grayson said calmly.

"It's my clan and I decide what to do or not. Do I look like I give a damn about their rules? Keeping Emma alive was my choice and her existence depends on me. Why do you all keep fighting to get her?" Alpha Devon scoffed.

"I don't care about others but I do care for Emma and if you hadn't snatched her away from me. She would be my Luna right now"

"If you want her so badly then try and get her let's see how tough you can get" Alpha Devon uttered with a malicious smile.

Grayson clenched his fist as he glared at Devon.

"I'm nothing like Grant. You will tell for yourself" Grayson uttered seriously then stood up.

"Don't visit next time without any further notification. You can see, I'm a very busy somebody" Devon uttered with his legs closed against each other.

"I'm not planning on coming back here again so don't get too scared. I'm not that big of a rival" Grayson smiled and then walked away.

What a jerk! Looking down on me when you're just a mere werewolf. Devon groaned in his head and Kent walked in.

"What took you so long?" Alpha Devon asked losing his cool.

"I guess, Grayson got you real hard. You don't like it when you're being handled gently" Kent said sarcastically and Devon glared at him.

"Are you finally going to let Emma go? I think that's the best decision you can come up with right now. Charlotte isn't coming back here and that's only a temptation to Emma" Kent added.

"You think I don't know that?" Alpha Devon groaned.

Kent looked away and brought out his phone from his pocket.

"This isn't the time for you to worry about Emma and Grayson. He's only trying to distract you and he's using Emma as his medium" Kent uttered seriously.

Alpha Devon raised his eyebrows a bit curious about Kent's statement.

"What do you mean?" Alpha Devon asked sharply.

"You should be getting prepared for the general pack's conference. You have to be appointed the keen ruler of all packs but how do plan on achieving that if you're focused on just a slave, who's being used as a weapon to get rid of you" Kent said coldly.

"You think I'm losing my cool because I'm exacting my revenge on her? What the hell do you take me for Kent?" Devon asked furiously.

Kent smirked and looked at him.

"This doesn't look like revenge to me. It's more like a dramatic romance story. I'm your Beta and I want the best for you and our pack, if you can't give Emma up then make her your Luna. It seems like you desperately want her by your side and it wouldn't hurt if you admit it and stop denying what's right in front of my eyes" Kent blurted and alpha Devon clenched his fist.

"How many times do I have to keep telling you that I don't feel anything for Emma? Why are you suddenly making me look like a liar"

"I would have believed you but how did you manage to get her treated by your healer? You've never done that before" Kent muttered and Devon kept mute.
