C26 Twenty six
Adrian's POV
I shouldn't have kissed her.
But that thought came too late.. that thought came right after her breath had already broken against my mouth and the world had detonated.
The moment our lips met, something savage tore loose inside me. Not want. Not desire.
Need.
Her gasp hit me straight in the chest, her hands gripping my hoodie like I was the only thing keeping her upright. The pull slammed into my spine, lighting my nerves on fire, turning every rational thought to ash.
"Adrian..." she whispered, like a warning as she slowly came down from the aftermath of her release.
I didn't listen.
I kissed her again and stroked her pussy with my fingers faster and harder. As though if I stopped I'd shatter.
My hands found her waist, fingers digging in, anchoring her to me as heat roared through my blood.
"This is wrong," she breathed once we came down our high horses.
"Then why does it feel like breathing? Fuck! I feel a lot better" I shot back.
I lifted her before she could answer, setting us down on the bench. She settled on my lap like she belonged there like she'd always belonged there and the contact nearly destroyed me.
She froze for half a second but she didn't move away as I expected and that almost undid me.
"Get off," I said hoarsely, not meaning it.
"If you want me gone," she whispered, "you'll have to mean it."
I laughed, sharp and broken as I stared at her. "You think I don't?"
My hands slid up her sides, stopping just short of where I knew I shouldn't touch. The restraint burned worse than giving in.
"You feel it," I said. "Don't lie to me."
Her breath hitched. "I do."
That was it.
The room disappeared. The lockers. The lights. The years between us.
There was only heat and her and the pull screaming for completion.
"Say stop," I murmured against her jaw. "Say it and I will."
She didn't, instead she said my name.
It was obvious that we both wanted this.. it was obvious that the pull was still there playing a game of hide and seek behind the scenes.
My grip tightened reflexively, my head falling back as I sucked in a breath that felt like it scraped my lungs raw.
"Selena," I groaned. "Tell me to stop or leave... If we keep going I might not be able to.."
Without prior warning.. The door handle rattled.
And everything in the locker room stopped, the clock stopped ticking, the air froze even my heart stopped beating for a while as I heard it...
Voices echoed down the hallway.
They were back..
Fucking hell!
"What the.." she whispered, her eyes already wide with panic.
"Shit," I muttered as the footsteps kept getting close and the rattling on the door just wouldn't stop.
"Behind the locker.. Now!," I said under my breath.
She didn't argue.
She slipped off my lap and moved fast, ducking behind the open locker door just as the main door creaked open.
I stepped back, heart hammering, forcing my breathing to steady.
"Adrian?" a voice called. "You're still here?"
I turned towards Timothy..
"Yeah," I said, too quickly. Then I steadied myself. "Yeah bro. I'm still here."
Another guy.. one of the defensemen peered inside. "Thought everyone cleared out, aren't you gonna get ready for that party."
"I was just about.. about to shower," I replied, grabbing a towel to sell it. "Didn't want to head home sweaty again."
"Oh," he nodded. "Right. I forgot my water bottle and Tim here decided to be my body guard."
He crossed the room as he spoke and every step he took closer to where I was, felt like a gunshot.
I could feel her behind the locker.. silent, her breathing a bit shallow, and the air between us was still charged like exposed wire.
He grabbed his bottle, glanced at me again. "Long day, huh? You look exhausted maybe you shouldn't come to the party"
"You have no idea," I muttered. "Are you sure about that? I don't think the others would understand"
He chuckled. "Its cool bro... I'll make them understand.. See you tomorrow."
"Yeah thanks."
The moment the door closed.
Silence slammed back into the room with a heavy this and I exhaled deeply like I'd been holding my breath for years.
Slowly, I turned towards the locker ad watched as she calmly stepped out.
For a second, we just stared at each other.
Her eyes were dark, pupils blown wide, lips swollen from what we'd almost done. She looked... wrecked.
So did I.
"You okay?" I asked quietly.
She nodded, then shook her head. "We shouldn't have.."
"I know."
"This can't.."
"I know," I repeated, sharper this time.
Her gaze flicked toward the door. "I need to go."
I didn't stop her because honestly, I couldn't trust myself if I did.
She grabbed her bag, moving fast, but at the door she paused, glancing around once more before looking back at me.
"This didn't happen," she said.
The lie tasted bitter.
"Sure whatever makes you sleep better," I said.
She hesitated, like she wanted to say more and I waited for her to say something but she turned and left.
The door closed behind her.
And I was alone.
The silence was unbearable.
I slammed my fist into the locker, metal rattling as rage tore through me.. at myself, at fate, at the stupid bondy pull that wouldn't let me breathe.
"Idiot," I muttered.
I dragged a hand down my face, pacing the room like a caged animal. My body still burned, still remembered the way she felt against me, the way she'd said my name like it was a confession.
I hated that I wanted her more now than before.
I hated that stopping myself hadn't fixed anything.
It had only sharpened the obsession.
She walked away, and I watched her through the small window in the door.. saw her glance around the hallway like she was afraid of being seen, like she was carrying something dangerous with her.
Like me.
My chest tightened.
Self-loathing crept in next, heavy and suffocating.
What the hell was wrong with me?
I'd sworn I wouldn't cross that line.
I had sworn I hated her very existence
And yet...
I leaned my forehead against the cool metal of the locker.
"You're ruining everything," I whispered.
But even as guilt clawed at me, something darker coiled beneath it.
Possessive.
Feral.
Because the truth was...
I didn't want Raymond or anyone near her.
The pull had made that painfully clear.
And now that I'd tasted what I wasn't supposed to have...
I didn't know how to let it go.
I straightened slowly, jaw tightening, eyes burning.
"This isn't over," I muttered to the empty room.
It wasn't a just promise.
It was a curse
