Adélie woke up in a room that was well known to her now. The curtains had been drawn plunging the room into darkness.

The young woman wanted to get up but a searing pain in the back of her neck made her moan.

She gently recalled the events before she sank. She was seized with uneasiness as she remembered the guard. She leaned over the side of the bed and returned her dinner to the chamber pot
