C4 SHE LIVED

Walking for few minutes, she saw several ancient buildings scattered around, with very few people in some of the courtyards.

They finally arrived at a magnificent U-shaped, two storey brick house. On the walls of the house were ancient intriguing drawings emanating royalty.

A well arranged courtyard stood in front of the building. At the left and right sides of the courtyard are various well- polished flower pots made from terracotta with beautiful flowers standing erect in them.

In the middle of the courtyard was a statue, similar to the statue at the entrance of Gonzola town, but more beautiful and endowed with several jewelries on its neck, head and wrist.

She marveled at the sight before her. She was familiar with the statue.

"Is this not the statue of Princess Ashyln who gave her life to save her people decades ago?".

" Does it mean the Princess appeared here after her death and maintained her position when she was alive?".

"She deserved the honor.". She was wallowing in her thoughts.

"It's also an honor to appear in the same place as the Princess after death". She suddenly smiled lightly at the thought.

She followed them into the beautiful antiquated living room, her hands tightly gripping her blouse.

A tap on her shoulder pulled her out of her thoughts.

"Please sit". Jason smiled at her. His eyes shining brightly.

She revealed a shallow smile and sat on one of the empty sofa in the living room.

She looked around and noticed an aged woman putting on a robe with a shawl around her shoulder. Her old eyes lit up when their gazes met.

" We've been ex........".

" Please! Please, can you bring me back to life!? I promise to live a perfect life if given another chance!". She interrupted the woman.

She covered her face with her palms and cried pitifully.

" I'm just seventeen! I'm my parents only daughter!". She knelt down and kept pleading.

She felt an arm around her shoulder. Wiping her tears, she looked up to see a beautiful face smiling at her.

"I'm Serena Hemeith, grand daughter of Pa Hemeith, chief guardian of the hidden clan". Her voice was calm. She pointed at the old man who welcomed her earlier.

" You're not dead. No tiger ate you". She gently pulled her from the ground and helped her sit, the smile not leaving her face.

Elina stared at Serena in confusion. She isn't dead? She suddenly felt a sense of relief. But wait! Did she transmigrate?

"Welcome to the hidden clan of Bernlus". Serena spread her arms.

Bernlus? Her eyes suddenly lit up. She jerked from the couch and grabbed Selena's sleeve.

"I'm alive?". Her eyes were filled with excitement.

"Yes. You're alive". She giggled.

" You only broke through the barrier. You're the savior we've been expecting. I thought I wouldn't live to see you". The aged woman gazed at the ceiling as she spoke.

"For decades, we've waited for your appearance. The prophecy is true". She smiled

"Welcome child. I can now wait for death to come" She took a deep breath.

" I am the great seer of Bernlus Kingdom!. My name is Mumbaya!" Her voice suddenly became magnetic and cold like a million year old ice, causing people to tremble.

Her eyes became dim and cold.

" How can I be your savior? You're mistaken please!" She wasn't having fun at all. Everything was strange to her. How could she be a savior. If only she could go back home safe and sound she would never get close to the hill or wood.

"You'll leave today in blindfold and in three days, the path you kept avoiding, for you to think it's enveloped with horror would lead you back to the hidden clan". Her voice was deeper and colder but it seemed the occupants of the room weren't affected by the voice. Maybe, they were already familiar with it. As for Elina, the voice sent chill down her spine.

"Take her home". She stood briskly, despite her fragile body.

She turned and entered a corridor while a man came in and beckoned on Elina to follow him.

She gave Jason and Serena a sincere smile then walked to the aged and bowed slightly.

"Thank you so much". She was excited that she was going back home.

Outside the courtyard, a horse was tied to a short ornamental tree. The man untied the horse and held the rein.

He threw a piece of dark cloth to her.

" Tie it around your eyes"

Obediently, she tied the cloth across her eyes. If that was what it would take to get back to her family, then she would happily do it as many times as they wished.

The man helped her mount the horse is and the horse galloped. She couldn't see anything but could feel the breeze caressing her dance and other exposed body parts.

After a while, the man cued for a halt and the horse stopped. He helped her off the horse. She waited for his next instruction but heard the sound of the horse galloping away and his warning voice.

" Be careful"

Quickly, she untied the cloth, stretched her neck to see the man, but he was gone leaving no trace.

She looked around and discovered she was standing on a familiar path and suddenly realized she must have stayed long outside.

Fastly, she ran home but seeing her house getting closer, she developed bad premonition. What if she was really dead? What if those people deceived her?

She touched her belly and felt the book she was reading on the Desolate Hill there. She brought it out and stared at it.

What if she got home and couldn't be seen by her family? What if she was a ghost? Several thoughts wrestled in her head and her heart throbbed violently.

Walking towards the house, she clenched her fist. She climbed the stairs and stood before the door. As her hand touched the door, her body stiffened.

Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door gently, peeked through to ensure no one was in, then pushed it widely opened and went in.

"Where are coming from Pumpkin?"
