C15 The Original Owner's Sisterinlaw Is Here

But she couldn't just drive them away. Since she had taken over the original owner's body, she felt obligated to take care of her family.

"Okay, what are you wearing?"

"Me? I'm wearing a suit. I wore this for my wedding. My wife said since it's our first time going to the city, we should look presentable and not embarrass our sister..."

"Hurry up, long-distance calls are expensive," a woman's voice chimed in from the other end.

"Alright, alright, I'm hanging up now. Remember to pick us up." With that, the call ended.

The original owner's brother was named Soong Gaang, but she couldn't recall what his wife was called.

Soong Yu set down the phone and sat there, pondering. What should she do? Tell the truth or cover it up with a lie?

That day, Soong Yu was noticeably distracted.

Huo Tian came home from work right on time, and Huo Ning was already back from school, doing homework in his room. Huo Tian hung his coat on the rack and headed upstairs.

He hadn't been up there long when Soong Yu followed. She stood at the door, not entering, but knocked instead.

Huo Tian turned from the balcony to see Soong Yu standing there, looking as if she wouldn't come in without his permission.

"What's up?"

Soong Yu found it hard to speak, but she couldn't handle this alone. Since they weren't divorced yet, Soong Gaang was technically still his brother-in-law.

"I know I shouldn't bother you, but... Soong Gaang is coming to the city."

"Soong Gaang? Who?"

"My... brother. He knows about us, so..." Soong Yu blushed deeply.

Huo Tian looked at her. "So?"

"They're coming to the city to look for jobs... I..."

"You want me to help them find jobs?" Huo Tian asked, emotionless.

"No, no..." Soong Yu wasn't that shameless. "What I mean is... my brother might need to stay for a day or two, maybe a few days. I'll explain everything to them and then they'll leave."

Huo Tian looked at Soong Yu. "How are you going to explain it? Tell them we're getting a divorce?"

Soong Yu was at a loss for words.

"Let's not tell anyone about the divorce for now. I'm worried Grandpa won't be able to handle it," Huo Tian said.

Soong Yu looked at him. "Then... what should we do?"

"Let's just let them stay for the night," Huo Tian replied.

"Thank you, thank you..." Soong Yu said, bowing slightly before turning to leave, not even sparing Huo Tian a glance.

Huo Tian watched her walk away without hesitation, growing more puzzled. Given her personality, she could easily use the divorce as leverage to demand he find jobs for her brother and sister-in-law. Missing such a good opportunity seemed unlike her.

The more Huo Tian thought about it, the less he understood Soong Yu. He decided to wait and see what she would do next.

The next afternoon, after lunch, Soong Yu headed to the train station. It was quite a distance away, and she had to ask for directions and transfer buses twice to get there.

At this time, the station wasn't crowded. Soong Yu took out a sign with Soong Gaang's name on it. Her memory of him was vague, and she worried she might not recognize him, which could raise his suspicions. So, she made a sign to ensure he would spot her. If he asked, she'd say it was to avoid confusion in the crowd.

With her plan set, Soong Yu stood at the station exit, holding the sign. Soong Gaang had mentioned arriving in the afternoon, but he hadn't specified the time.

She waited anxiously from two until nearly four, unsure if she'd missed him or if he hadn't arrived yet. Just then, a large group of people emerged from the station. Soong Yu widened her eyes, scanning each person, but there were too many people in similar attire. She couldn't tell them apart.

Growing worried, she suddenly heard someone calling, "Sis..."

Following the voice, she saw a burly man carrying a pole with bags hanging from each end. She couldn't tell what was inside, but they looked heavy, bending the pole under their weight.

Soong Yu hesitated for a moment before calling out, "Hey... brother?"

Sure enough, the two people on the other side got excited and headed straight toward her. It seemed she had guessed right.

Forcing herself to appear cheerful, Soong Yu went to greet them.

Soong Gaang was thrilled to see his sister. It had been over three years since she moved to the city, and she hadn't been back home since—even missing his wedding.

"Sis, let me introduce you. This is your sister-in-law, Lin Hong. And this is my sister, Soong Yu. The gold bracelet Mom gave you for our wedding was from her," Soong Gaang said with a chuckle. "Sis, it's been so long. You've become even more beautiful, like a real city girl."

"Brother, sister-in-law..." Soong Yu greeted them both. "This isn't the best place to chat. Let me take you back first."

"Alright, alright, let's go."

Soong Gaang picked up his bags, and Soong Yu took one of Lin Hong's parcels to carry. She led them to the bus stop to wait for the bus.
