C17 Did You Guys Get into an Argument?

As the bus pulled into the next stop, the driver parked and walked over.

"Miss, I'm really sorry about what happened earlier. I heard everything. This was our ticket collector's mistake. Our company has no such rule. So what if you're from the countryside? This country was built by hardworking people from all walks of life, and everyone has the right to a seat." He shot a stern look at the ticket collector. "She's new and doesn't quite understand. I apologize, truly. I'll have her apologize to you."

The ticket collector pouted stubbornly, refusing to speak.

Seeing someone step in to defuse the situation, Soong Yu decided to let it go. She glanced at the ticket collector and said, "Forget it, there's no point in arguing with a kid."

The ticket collector wanted to retort but was silenced by the driver's glare. "If you don't want to work here, I'll have a word with the company."

The ticket collector fell silent, though she continued to roll her eyes at Soong Yu. But Soong Yu didn't care. She had dealt with enough attitudes in her past life; this was child's play to her.

After apologizing again to Soong Yu and her companions, the driver returned to his seat and drove off.

Several students nearby had witnessed the scene and gave Soong Yu curious looks.

Soong Yu stood even straighter than before. Yes, they were from the countryside, but they earned their living through hard work and didn't see themselves as inferior to anyone else.

When they finally reached the last stop, the three of them got off, and the driver apologized once more.

Soong Yu nodded and led them away. They needed to catch another bus from here.

By the time they reached the complex, it was dark. The security guard, seeing two unfamiliar faces, asked a few questions.

After a brief explanation, Soong Yu led them inside.

Soong Gaang looked around, his eyes wide, and remarked at the streetlights, "Wow, this must use a lot of electricity, just leaving them on like this."

"Yeah," Soong Yu replied, not intending to elaborate.

Soong Gaang's awestruck demeanor made Lin Hong feel a bit embarrassed. She shot him a look, "This is the city, not like back home where everyone goes to bed as soon as it gets dark and you can't even spare the kerosene."

Soong Gaang, not bothered by the teasing, explained with a goofy grin, "The money Mom saves will still be ours in the end, right?"

Lin Hong glanced at Soong Yu, noticing she had no intention of speaking up, and decided to keep quiet.

As they neared the Huo family home, they spotted a tall figure approaching from a distance.

Soong Yu's heart skipped a beat when she saw Huo Tian standing still ahead.

Soong Gaang and Lin Hong exchanged a knowing look, both guessing who the person might be.

Soong Gaang quickly set down the load from his shoulder, feeling a bit uneasy as Huo Tian drew closer.

When Lin Hong saw Huo Tian's appearance, she discreetly glanced at Soong Yu. No wonder her sister-in-law wasn't interested in the guys the family introduced. With someone like him around, who would settle for anyone else?

Huo Tian stopped in front of Soong Yu and looked at her.

Soong Yu was momentarily stunned before she began the introductions, "Um, brother, this is Huo Tian. This is my brother, Soong Gaang, and this is my sister-in-law, Lin Hong."

Huo Tian nodded, not addressing anyone specifically, "Let's go." His attitude wasn't overly friendly, but to Soong Yu, it wasn't bad either. She had thought he wouldn't agree when she mentioned it to him yesterday.

"Alright, let's go," Soong Gaang said, picking up the load and following.

Lin Hong seemed to sense something and quickly walked up to Soong Yu, whispering, "Did you two have a fight?"

Soong Yu gave her a look, smiling without warmth, "He's just a serious person."

Lin Hong shrugged, unimpressed.

It seemed that her sister-in-law's life wasn't as glamorous as it appeared on the surface.

With this realization, Lin Hong felt a bit pleased. After all, why should one person have all the good things?

Huo Tian remained silent the entire way, leading them into the Huo family courtyard. "You must be hungry. I brought some food."

Soong Yu looked at him gratefully, but Huo Tian turned away, expressionless.

When Huo Zhen found out it was Soong Yu's brother and sister-in-law, the old man was quite pleased, given the family connection. However, Huo Ning's expression was anything but friendly.

Aren't they getting divorced? Why are they still bringing back those poor relatives? They've got some nerve.
