C2 Freshman!

When Soong Yu woke up again, she was puzzled to find herself lying in a hospital bed. Seeing her name on the headboard left her even more astonished. Wasn't she supposed to be dead? She distinctly remembered begging the doctor not to save her. Had she been... revived?

But something felt off. Her body felt much lighter than before, and the skin on her hands and face didn't seem right. Amidst her confusion and worry, she caught sight of herself in the mirror—a young woman who looked nothing like her, with eyes full of panic and bewilderment. Was this really her?

Suddenly, a flood of memories that weren't hers surged into her mind. After a moment, Soong Yu sat in the hospital room, trying to process the information. She had been reborn in the 1990s. Though she shared the same name, she wasn't her original self. And, to her surprise, she was married.

This new identity was a bit awkward. Officially, she was the newlywed bride of the Huo family, married for less than three months. In reality, she was more like a free housekeeper. The reasons were both simple and complex.

Huo Zhen, the family patriarch, was a war veteran. His son and daughter-in-law had died in a lab accident, leaving him to care for his grandchildren, Huo Tian and Huo Ning. Two years ago, an old leg injury forced Huo Zhen to retire. Huo Tian, still in college, realized they needed someone to look after Huo Zhen and Huo Ning since he would be busy after graduation. Eventually, they found the original Soong Yu.

The original Soong Yu had some distant ties to the Huo family, which led her to become their housekeeper. Upon meeting Huo Tian, she couldn't help but fall for him, though she kept her feelings to herself and focused on her duties.

After graduating from medical school, Huo Tian became a doctor at the central hospital. In just two years, he advanced from assistant physician to attending physician. He was skilled, capable, had a good background, and was handsome—standing over six feet tall with thick eyebrows and bright eyes. He was widely regarded as the most promising young man in the community.

There were many people hoping to become Huo Tian's in-laws, and the original character, a mere housekeeper, knew she was far from being in the running. However, she was smart and managed to earn the Huo family's affection, never being treated like just a housekeeper. Huo Ning even called her "Sister Soong" affectionately.

The original character was two years younger than Huo Tian. He appreciated her care for his grandfather and sister, treating her almost like a younger sister. She became infatuated with Huo Tian's kindness, unable to extricate herself from it.

Three months ago, on Huo Tian's birthday, he was too busy to come home. The original character made dumplings by hand and took them to the hospital, only to find Huo Tian being very close with a beautiful young woman. Overcome with jealousy, she feared that Huo Tian might bring this woman home to meet his grandfather.

In a moment of impulsiveness, she added something to Huo Tian's drink at his grandfather's birthday party, leading to them spending the night together. When discovered, she feigned heartbreak and shame, even threatening to harm herself.

Elder Huo, being traditional, believed that in such situations, the woman was at a disadvantage. He was quite satisfied with her—she was virtuous, capable, and familiar. Marrying her wouldn't be a bad choice for his grandson. In the eyes of the older generation, a virtuous, capable, and familiar wife was ideal.

Faced with her threats of self-harm, Huo Tian couldn't argue. They had indeed been together. Whether it was a drunken mistake or premeditated, Huo Tian knew the truth because he was a doctor.

Initially, Huo Tian disagreed with his grandfather's insistence, but he almost drove the old man to the hospital with anger. With only his grandfather and sister as family, Huo Tian eventually had to compromise and agree.

So, they got married. But after getting their marriage certificate, the original character never saw Huo Tian again.

The story spread around the neighborhood, and Huo Ning came to resent the original character for bringing shame to their family.

She believed her brother would never do such a thing; it was all a scheme by that little maid. In her eyes, her brother was exceptional, and every girl in the neighborhood had a crush on him. So, it was impossible for him to be interested in the original woman, let alone act recklessly after drinking.

After sharing her suspicions with Huo Zhen and getting scolded, Huo Ning felt even more wronged. She began to nitpick, mock, and spread rumors about how the woman had seduced her brother, completely ruining her reputation in the community. But the original woman didn't care, as long as she was Mrs. Huo.

However, things weren't that simple. Facing the whispers and Huo Ning's baseless provocations and insults, the original woman was exhausted. Adding to her distress, Huo Tian hadn't been home, pushing her to her breaking point.

Three days ago, she went to the hospital to see Huo Tian, thinking if he wouldn't come to her, she'd go to him. She found him with the same girl from before, talking about something while the girl cried and clung to him. The original woman felt her blood rush to her head and, without a word, grabbed the girl and started a fight.

Huo Tian hadn't expected her to appear suddenly, and before he knew it, the two women were wrestling. The original woman called the girl shameless for trying to seduce Huo Tian, while the girl retorted that the original woman was the shameless one, dreaming of becoming something she wasn't.

Huo Tian had never faced such a scene. Trying to separate them, he shouted and finally managed to pull them apart before storming off in anger. The original woman followed, trying to explain.

Huo Tian didn't want to see her or hear her explanations. He told her to just take care of Huo Zhen and Huo Ning and not to expect anything else. If she caused more trouble, he'd divorce her, even if it meant losing his job. That statement terrified her.

She quietly left the hospital, but as soon as she stepped outside, she ran into the girl again, this time with someone else. Within a few words, they were fighting once more.

The original girl was from the countryside, definitely stronger than the pretty girl, but even she couldn't handle being ganged up on by two people. In the end, somehow, the pretty girl gave her a shove, causing her to lose her balance and fall. She hit the back of her head on a rock and passed out. Seeing this, the pretty girl quickly rolled her eyes and collapsed, telling the other person to hurry and get help.

When she woke up, three days had passed, and she had become Soong Yu.

As Soong Yu was deep in thought, the door opened, and a man walked straight toward her.

"Huo... Huo Tian..."

Soong Yu was startled and instantly alert.

Huo Tian paused for a moment when he saw Soong Yu's wide eyes, then walked over and silently replaced her nearly empty IV bottle.

Soong Yu didn't dare say a word, afraid of revealing she was an imposter.

After changing the IV bottle, Huo Tian left.

Watching him walk away, Soong Yu thought to herself, no wonder the original girl fell for this man at first sight. Huo Tian stood at least six feet tall, with a long face, thick eyebrows, narrow, almond-shaped eyes, a high nose bridge, and thin, pressed lips. Even in a simple white coat, he exuded an air of restraint. It's no wonder the original girl was smitten with him at first glance.

With such a man, his background, and profession, even someone like her, who had seen so much in her forty-plus years, had a great first impression of him. That speaks volumes about his charm.
