C7 Brother I Feel Wronged for You!

Standing before the firmly closed door, Soong Yu patted her pockets, confirming she had no keys. She raised her hand to knock.

"If you've got the guts, come in yourself. Otherwise, get lost," Huo Ning called from inside.

The courtyard wall was just over three feet high. This was a military compound—no thief would dare enter. The wall was more for aesthetics than security.

Soong Yu glanced around and spotted some stones nearby. She walked over, carried them to the wall, and stacked them beneath it. With effort, she hoisted herself up, one foot on the wall, and finally managed to climb over.

Huo Ning, seeing her from inside, looked as if he'd seen a ghost. "How are you... climbing the wall?"

With one leg over the wall and the other dangling, Soong Yu replied, "I didn't bring my keys, and you wouldn't open the door. How else was I supposed to get in?"

"Soong Yu, you have no shame. If I were you, I'd have died a hundred times over."

"Good thing I'm not you. Even if I had nine lives like a cat, they wouldn't be enough for you to waste."

"Get down! Our family doesn't welcome you," Huo Ning shouted angrily, grabbing a bamboo stick used for hanging clothes and jabbing it at Soong Yu.

She dodged and grabbed the stick. "You're young, but your mouth is sharp and your temper worse. Who'd dare want you in the future?"

"Say that again?" Huo Ning was furious, yanking the stick back and swatting at Soong Yu, who was stuck awkwardly on the wall, taking a few hits.

Luckily, Huo Ning avoided any vital spots.

"You’re the shameless one, with a venomous mouth and heart. If it weren't for you, our family wouldn't be like this! You awful woman, ugly woman, get out! Our family doesn't want you here."

Even though Soong Yu knew Huo Ning was cursing the original owner of her body, it still hurt. She grabbed the stick again and said, "I'm sorry for what happened before. I've learned my lesson and nearly died. Soon... I mean, in a while, I'll leave. Please, stop yelling."

Huo Ning hesitated for a moment, eyeing Soong Yu with suspicion. Would she really leave after finally becoming part of the family?

"I don't believe you."

"Believe what you want. I'm leaving sooner or later. If you can't stand me, then don't look at me or talk to me. Let's just get through these months peacefully, and then we'll go our separate ways."

Once the time comes, she can leave without hearing their insults and live the life she wants. That's what truly matters.

Standing less than three feet from the wall, Huo Tian watched Soong Yu perched on top. He had seen her climb the wall, and he caught every word of her conversation with Huo Ning.

"You're such a liar..." Huo Ning muttered. Taking advantage of Soong Yu's distraction, he gave a sharp push with the stick in his hand. Soong Yu lost her balance and tumbled down.

Huo Tian reacted instinctively, rushing forward to catch her just in time. Without his help, she would have landed hard and been in pain for a while.

Soong Yu, startled, felt someone steadying her from behind and quickly stood up. "Thanks..."

Her expression froze when she turned and saw who it was.

"Why are you back?"

Huo Tian glanced at her impassively, as if to say, "Do I really need to explain?"

Soong Yu said nothing, realizing there was nothing to discuss. Huo Tian had only helped her out of reflex; he would have done the same for anyone.

As Huo Tian was about to open the door, Huo Ning opened it from the inside. Seeing Huo Tian, he shrank back and tried to run.

But he felt a firm grip on the back of his neck.

"Hey, hey... it hurts..." Huo Ning pleaded.

"Didn't I tell you not to hit people?"

"She deserved it. She lied to you..."

"That's adult stuff. You're still a kid, just focus on your studies and stay out of grown-up matters."

"I'm upset for you, bro. How can you be tied to a woman like that for life? I'm really upset for you..." Huo Ning said, tears streaming down her face. This was the first time her brother had come back after being forced to marry that woman.

Huo Tian pressed his lips together, saying nothing. He grabbed Huo Ning by the neck and pulled her inside.

Soong Yu awkwardly rubbed his nose nearby.

It's true... it's unfair. Huo Tian has the looks, the background, and a successful career, yet he's paired with a maid. It's undeniably unfair... there's no arguing that.

Huo Tian took Huo Ning to a room and shut the door. Soong Yu didn't know what the siblings talked about; all he heard was Huo Ning's crying at first, and then silence.
