C8 They Brought It Home!

"Yizhou, you're back." As soon as the car stopped, Yu'er ran up to him, eagerly linking her arm with Zheng Yizhou's, as if she'd completely forgotten about last night.

"Quite the charmer, huh? You haven't even made it inside, and there's already a girl here to greet you," Nannan teased from the side, clearly enjoying the scene. If she wasn't mistaken, this was Deng Yu'er, her half-sister. Despite being family, their lives couldn't be more different.

"And who are you?" Yu'er asked, her tone hostile. Why had this woman stepped out of Yizhou's car? He never brought women home.

"Don't you know what you should be doing right now?" Zheng Yizhou nudged Yu'er, but she clung to him like cotton candy.

"Alright, time to let go. Borrowing my husband for a hug is one thing, but aren't you done yet?" Nannan said, taking Yizhou's other arm, sparking a playful tug-of-war with Yu'er.

"What do you mean, your husband? Yizhou, look at her," Yu'er protested, trying to pry Nannan's hand away. The more she tried, the tighter Nannan held on. Yizhou felt like his hand might be crushed; she was definitely doing it on purpose.

"Okay, enough. I'm here to talk about this today," Yizhou said, leaning down to give Nannan a quick peck, like a dragonfly skimming the water.

"You..." Yu'er stared at Yizhou in shock. He actually kissed that woman. Yizhou had never been this close to any girl before.

Feeling defeated, Yu'er let go and ran into the house. She needed Moo Yongrong to stand up for her. Yizhou couldn't marry anyone else; he would listen to Moo Yongrong.

In the living room, several pairs of eyes were fixed on Nannan, as if trying to see right through her. Unfazed, she held onto Yizhou's arm confidently.

"I don't agree. Yu'er has done so much for you, even risking her reputation. Why can't you see that and still bring this wild woman home?" Moo Yongrong scrutinized Nannan, feeling a nagging sense of familiarity but unable to place her.

"Auntie, I genuinely care for Yizhou. Anything she can do, I can do too," Nannan replied sincerely, though internally she was seething. Sometimes you have to bow your head to get by.

"You wretched woman, what makes you think you can compete with me? How dare you take Yizhou from me?" Yu'er shouted angrily. If there weren't so many people around, she would have slapped Nannan by now. Yizhou was meant to be hers, and only hers. They were a match made in heaven.

"You're right, I can't compete with you. But I happen to be carrying Yizhou's child," Nannan said with a smile, patting her stomach. Yu'er, sheltered all her life, had never faced real challenges. How could she possibly match Nannan's resilience?

"What? How is that possible?" Yu'er stared at Nannan in disbelief. A child? It seemed Yizhou truly cared for her; otherwise, he wouldn't have brought her home.

"Ask him," Nannan said, leaning affectionately against Yizhou.

"Homewrecker, shameless!" Before Yizhou could speak, Yu'er lunged at Nannan in a frenzy. This child couldn't be born.

"Yu'er!" Moo Yongrong scolded. Yu'er had many good qualities, but she was reckless and impulsive, never considering the consequences. Wasn't she just pushing Yizhou away with her actions?

"Ma'am," Yu'er reluctantly withdrew her hand. Why couldn't she hit that vixen? She had never been so wronged before. Her family always treated her like a princess, and she had done everything she could for Yizhou.

"Alright, calm down, dear. What do your parents do for a living?" Moo Yongrong asked politely. She wasn't as impulsive as Yu'er; being rash never led to good results, only more trouble. Some things required a bit of thought.

"We're just an ordinary working-class family, living paycheck to paycheck," Nannan replied. To her, her adoptive parents were the most important people in her life. They had raised her and always supported her mother.

"Yu'er is just a bit immature. Her actions were out of love for our Yizhou. Besides, she and Yizhou are engaged. We'll take responsibility for this and offer you some money."

Moo Yongrong looked at her. Surely nothing was more important than money, right? She had already made concessions and wasn't about to back down further. With Nannan's modest background, wouldn't she be tempted by a large sum of money?

"Really? But Yizhou and I are already married," Nannan said calmly. An engagement? Could they be any more ridiculous? She had done her homework; did they think she was a fool?

"Alright, Mom, I just brought her here to inform you. The wedding is set for next week. You're welcome to attend," Yizhou said, standing up. He wasn't here to negotiate. If it weren't for his father's last words, he wouldn't have tolerated his mother's antics for so long.

"No way, I won't go," Moo Yongrong could no longer keep her composure. Did Yizhou realize how much his marriage ruined her plans? A family alliance could have brought significant business benefits.

"I'll handle this myself," Yizhou said, leaving with Nannan. To be honest, Nannan's calm demeanor was impressive. Most women would have tried hard to win his mother's favor, but she neither pandered nor sought closeness.

"Yizhou, don't go." Deng Yu'er suddenly stood up, grabbing Zheng Yizhou's hand. She was furious, angry at this woman who had appeared out of nowhere. Why had Yizhou never mentioned her before? This woman had disrupted all her plans.

"Sorry, but he's my man," Xia Nannan smiled, gently prying Yu'er's hand away, just as she had done with her own earlier.

"Xia Nannan, I really underestimated you before. You never cease to surprise me," Zheng Yizhou remarked in the car. He hadn't said anything earlier, thinking he might need to help Xia Nannan, but she seemed perfectly capable of handling things on her own.

"Thanks for the compliment. I'm starving. What are we going to eat? I'm broke," Xia Nannan said, rubbing her stomach. She hadn't eaten all day. Just thinking about Moo Yongrong's face turning green with envy was satisfying.
