C2 Loved Him For Six Years

A bitter smile slipped into Jian Jia's lips, and her heart quivered at the thought of him even thinking about somebody else.

She had loved the man for six years, yet all he could ever think about was Hsu Lanyi. For him, the woman was his world, and Jian Jia was just another passer-by who had sabotaged her. That made it hurt all the more.

Glancing at the silver frost that had settled on the treetops outside the window, she suddenly thought back to Zhai Yaotian. He hadn't fully recovered from a cold he had a few days ago. And knowing him, he probably didn't bring a coat to the cemetery.

Although her body was weak, she slowly stood up and grabbed a black coat from the wardrobe. Without wasting another second, she drove towards the cemetery. He could hate her all he wanted, but she wasn't going to stop caring for him.

The sky was gray, and a dark mist hovered around the area. Coughing, she squinted her eyes through the fog, shivering under the cold.

Despite the freezing weather, she held herself tightly and walked forward, with the black coat sustaining her. Soon, the smog slowly cleared and she could see a dark shadow perched at the center of it all.

Zhai Yaotian was still wearing a racer's uniform, looking as if he hadn't changed since last night. His eyes were bloodshot, and his face was pale from the harsh winds. Even then, he continued to stand, gazing forlornly at his ex-lover's tombstone.

It had been three years, yet he gazed at her as if no time had passed. If she didn't see the tombstone, she would've thought that Hsu Lanyi was really standing before him.

Would he ever gaze at her the same way? Jian Jia winced. That was doubtful.

"Yaotian," she called out softly, taking a few steps towards him.

Immediately, his loving features had turned dull, and his eyes flickered with hatred and disgust once more. His hands clenched into fists as he turned to look at her. "You shouldn't be here."

To him, the mere existence of her was enough to disturb Lanyi's sweet dreams from above.

The hole in Jian Jia's heart throbbed once more.

"You still haven't recovered from the cold yet. Come back with me."

As she said that, she passed the black coat to him.

Her hands and feet had already gone strikingly white from the moment she arrived. What more for the man who had been standing there since the light of day? She bit the bottom of her lips, struggling to shield her face from the trembling cold.

"Cold?" He laughed sarcastically. "Never know you could feel."

Zhai Yaotian glanced at her coldly. He didn't even reach out to take the coat in her hands. Instead, he stepped towards her.

Every step he made felt forceful and strained, yet she found herself frozen in place. His warm breath fanned across her face, and her cheeks flushed from the suddenness. However, what he said next made her rather bury herself in the cold.

"Lanyi has been lying here for three years," he said dangerously. "Do you think she feels cold down there?"

As soon as she heard the woman's name come out of his lips, her heart suddenly twitched, and the dense pain returned once more. For so long she had craved his love, yet it seemed that hope had wavered more and more as the days passed.

Taking a deep breath, she gazed up at him.

"We've been together for three years–that's a thousand days and nights where we were at each other's side," she spat out. "Do you really not have any feelings for me? Is that it?"

She clenched her fists.

Jian Jia's soft and stubborn appearance made his heart soften a little. He froze. for a while.

A trace of pity inexplicably rose in his heart.

However, before he could dwell on his feelings any further, he immediately tore that from his mind. There was no reason for him to pity the woman in front of him. After all, wasn't she the reason that he was in this position in the first place?

The woman he had loved was harmed by this bitch! She could look all delicate and piteous, but he knew for a fact that hidden under that soft exterior was a snake ready to bite at a moment's notice! His heart hardened.

The anger he had for her burned even for fiercely under the snow.

"Feelings for you?" Scoffing, Zhai Yaotian dragged her down the steps and shook her off as soon as they reached the side of the road.

As soon as he released his hold on her, Jian Jia stumbled and almost fell onto the icy pavements. She grabbed the freezing surface of the parked car to steady herself as her chest slammed against the hood. She gritted her teeth, refusing to cry out in pain–not wanting to give him the satisfaction of doing so.

"Get out of my sight," he warned, stalking back to the cemetery. "Don't bother dirtying this place with your presence."

Was that really how he thought of her? Just a speck of dirt he was determined to wiping away? Leaning against the car, she blinked rapidly, but to no avail. The cold tears ran down her cheeks like a flash of freezing reality.

However, as soon as she grasped the car handle, she froze. Pain! Her entire body shook and trembled, and she could feel her heart burning under the howling winds. Fuck!

It felt as if someone had run her entire body with a truck over and over again. Her arms writhed as she wrenched the car door open.

Her other hand pressed against her chest, to where her heart was supposed to be. Her slightly blue lips turned to dark purple in an instant, and she groaned out in pain.

Four years ago, to save Zhai Yaotian, she had missed her cardiovascular surgery. Now, she had no other choice but to live with her decision with the man who now hated her every being.

Her body was growing weaker day by day. Hell, just driving here was enough to take a toll on her, and with the cold air...her heart couldn't take it. Clutching her chest, she exhaled shakily, struggling to keep herself together. Was this how she had wanted to live?

If she didn't receive the treatment, she'd die.
