C13 The Call

Mu Chuchen's face lit up with a radiant, sweet smile.

That smile nearly swayed Ye Junhao to change his mind, to step out of the car and join her for a shopping spree.

It took considerable effort for Ye Junhao to rein in his desire. He cautioned Mu Chuchen to stay safe before closing the car door and signaling the driver to proceed.

Mu Chuchen remained standing, watching as Ye Junhao's car blended into the stream of traffic.

Oh!

She had forgotten to ask for the bank card's PIN.

In her past life, he had given her a bank card, explaining that the PIN was the birth years of their family of three. Yet, back then, she hadn't accepted the card.

Could the PIN still be the same?

Mu Chuchen recalled there was a branch of the bank near the pedestrian street. Guided by memory, she located the branch and tried the ATM, discovering the PIN was indeed the same as before.

Her emotions were a tangled mess, hard to articulate.

Ye Junhao's kindness was always expressed in silent, thoughtful gestures that took time to fully appreciate.

The consistency of the bank card's PIN, set to the birth years of their family, was just another silent testament to how he'd woven her and their son into the fabric of his life.

And then there was their son's name.

In her previous life, Mu Chuchen hadn't bonded with her son and even disliked his name.

Now, having been given a second chance, she understood the significance: 'Ye' from Ye Junhao, 'Mu' from Mu Chuchen—their son's name was a blend of both their surnames.

If he hadn't loved her, he wouldn't have chosen such a meaningful name for their child.

She had been misled by her stepmother, strayed from the right path, and missed out on the best version of him, failing to reciprocate his profound love.

Thankfully, she had been given another life.

If she failed to cherish this opportunity, she truly deserved to be struck down by divine retribution.

Meanwhile, Ye Junhao, having left Mu Chuchen to return to his company, found himself distracted during a meeting. He kept glancing at his phone, prominently placed on the desk, as if eagerly anticipating a call from a certain someone.

The senior executives at the meeting could tell that the CEO was distracted. They all wondered what could be troubling the CEO, who usually prioritized work above all else.

"Ring, ring, ring..."

A phone rang.

Ye Junhao swiftly reached for his phone, only to find there was no caller ID. It turned out to be another executive's phone that had the same ringtone as his.

All eyes were on Ye Junhao, whose quick reaction seemed out of place. He initially looked pleased as he grabbed his phone, but his expression darkened when he saw the screen.

A sense of unease spread among the attendees, particularly the executive whose phone was ringing. He was too afraid to even answer the call.

Ye Junhao scanned the room with a frosty gaze.

The executive was petrified, torn between answering and ignoring the call.

"During meetings, phones should be on silent mode, and no calls are to be answered. This applies to everyone. If this happens again, you'll be asked to leave and not return to the meeting," Ye Junhao stated icily.

The executive quickly ended the call and apologized, "President, I'm sorry. It was my mistake. I'll fix it right away." He then silenced his phone.

The others hurriedly did the same.

"Ring, ring, ring..."

The phone rang again, with the same tone as before.

Now, all eyes turned to the executive.

He looked at his phone, nearly in tears, and said, "It's not my phone. I've set it to silent."

The room was filled with alarm as everyone checked their phones, even those with different ringtones.

"Ring, ring, ring..."

The relentless ringtone continued to sound.
