C26 Making Fun of Your Husband will Get You Addicted
Afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, bathing the large bed in the lounge in a warm glow.
Chuchen tiptoed out of bed and silently made her way to the window to draw the curtains. The room dimmed, creating a more peaceful environment for the child to sleep.
Little Ye Mu was sleeping soundly.
Chuchen returned to the bedside and leaned over to watch her son's serene face.
"Mu."
She leaned in closer and gently kissed her son's cheek.
The little one stirred.
Startled, she quickly sat up straight.
Fortunately, he just shifted in his sleep and then settled back down.
Mu Chuchen breathed a sigh of relief.
Not wanting to disturb her son further, she tiptoed out of the lounge.
Ye Junhao was already hard at work in his office.
His focused demeanor was strikingly handsome.
Mu Chuchen watched him, lost in thought. In her past life, she had been so blind, forsaking such a wonderful man for the likes of Chung Sen, a true scoundrel. She had only herself to blame for her tragic end far from home.
Suddenly, Ye Junhao looked up.
Their eyes met.
"Awake?"
"Mhm."
Chuchen approached, intending to sit down, but noticed his empty cup. She picked it up and asked, "Would you like warm water or coffee?"
Ye Junhao leaned back, massaging his temples, and answered, "Coffee, please."
Chuchen quietly set about making the coffee.
Once it was ready, she poured a cup for herself as well.
The couple sat at the crescent-shaped desk, one on either side.
"Don't drink coffee," Ye Junhao cautioned her coolly. "It'll keep you up all night."
She knew she couldn't handle anything stimulating.
"How do you know it'll affect my sleep?"
Ye Junhao pressed his lips together, remaining silent.
"Don't overdo it with the coffee yourself. Take a break if you need to."
"My schedule is full; there's no time for breaks. I have a meeting in half an hour. Will you go back or stay here with Mu?"
"I'll stay with Mu. He's still asleep. If he wakes up and doesn't see anyone around, he'll cry."
A two-year-old child can easily find trouble without an adult's watchful eye.
Ye Junhao fell silent once more.
He was naturally a man of few words.
The couple had always maintained a respectful distance, lacking any common interests to discuss.
"Chuchen."
"Jun Hao," they both said simultaneously.
"You go first."
Ye Junhao was accustomed to deferring to her.
"I'd like a piece of paper and a pencil."
Without hesitation, Ye Junhao handed her a piece of paper and a pencil. "Are you thinking of returning to design?"
Mu Chuchen was well-versed in design, skilled in fashion, architecture, and landscape, but she had never gained recognition in the field.
"My mother ran a clothing company before she passed. After she was gone, my father entrusted it to Su Shu. How can I let Su Shu reap the benefits of my mother's hard work? I intend to reclaim the managerial rights of that company. But without any accomplishments of my own, my father won't consider handing it over to me."
Su Shu coveted more than just the company; she wanted everything associated with Mu's Group.
Ye Junhao watched her in silence.
"What's the matter? If you keep looking at me like that, I'll start to think you want..." Mu Chuchen flirtatiously teased him, "I wouldn't mind, though I'm worried you might tire yourself out."
"I wonder who will end up tired. Who will be the one crying and begging for mercy?" he retorted.
Mu Chuchen's cheeks flushed with a rosy hue.
She playfully scolded him, "You big bad wolf!"
Suddenly, she rose, leaning forward to grasp his tie and pull him closer. Her eyes sparkled like stars, her voice soft and sultry, enough to melt any man's resolve.
"Husband, come here and give me a kiss."
"Mu Chuchen, you're playing with fire!"
He was sated from his last meal, yet his hunger returned swiftly.
"Just one kiss." Mu Chuchen realized she immensely enjoyed teasing him. Watching his usually composed face crack under her playful words and actions, turning a shade of crimson, gave her a thrill.
Teasing him could become addictive.
