C4 Divorce

"I'll sit here, I'll sit here."

Mu Chuchen quickly took a seat beside Ye Junhao.

Her compliance caused Ye Junhao to furrow his brow once more. Despite his usual astuteness, today he found himself unable to fathom what was going through her mind. What was she planning to do next?

"Sit a little further away, please!"

Feeling slighted, Mu Chuchen moved to sit across from Ye Junhao, so she could easily watch her husband and son.

Ye Junhao was not accustomed to being gazed at so intently by Mu Chuchen.

Despite his stern demeanor, he was actually the most tender-hearted when it came to her.

Eleven years earlier, during his first visit to his classmate Mu Zhiyuan's home, he laid eyes on the then fourteen-year-old Mu Chuchen and instantly knew she was the woman meant for him.

She wore a long white dress that day, her innocence so profound that giving her a second glance felt almost sacrilegious.

He began to relish his visits to the Mu Family home. While others assumed he was close with Mu Zhiyuan, his true motive was to see Mu Chuchen.

Years later, upon hearing that the Mu Family was keen on arranging a marriage with him, he was ecstatic. Even though he was aware that Mu Chuchen didn't love him and was reluctant to marry him, he eagerly anticipated their wedding day.

He had hoped to thaw Mu Chuchen's heart, but only after marrying her did he realize her heart was as cold as stone. Years of effort had yet to warm it.

Ye Mu would sometimes steal glances at his mother, and Chuchen would always respond with a smile.

Ye Junhao's frown deepened. Mu Chuchen had been in tears that morning upon seeing him with their son, and now she was fixated on them, smiling at their son.

This was not the Mu Chuchen he recognized.

At that moment, Ms. Zhang brought out Mu Chuchen's breakfast and set it before her.

"Thank you."

Once again, Mu Chuchen expressed her gratitude, causing Ms. Zhang to tense up.

"Madam?"

Ms. Zhang spoke up tentatively, and when Mu Chuchen turned to her, she asked cautiously, "Have I done something wrong?"

Mu Chuchen smiled and shook her head, "Not at all."

"Why did the lady thank me?" Ms. Zhang's heart was in turmoil. She was terrified, not understanding why the lady had suddenly become so polite. Was she harboring some grand scheme to use against her?

Mu Chuchen chuckled. "Ms. Zhang, there's no need to be afraid. I'm not plotting any grand schemes against you. You brought out breakfast for me, and it's only right that I thank you for that."

Ms. Zhang, reassured by Mu Chuchen's sincerity and apparent lack of deceit, breathed a sigh of relief and quickly responded, "It's my duty, ma'am. No need for thanks. Please enjoy your meal at your leisure; I'll get back to my tasks."

With that, Ms. Zhang hurried away.

Even though Mu Chuchen had assured her she wasn't plotting anything, Ms. Zhang remained cautious. After all, the lady was known for her unpredictable moods—one moment she could be all smiles, and the next, she could berate you harshly.

"Jun Hao, you'll be off to work soon, won't you? Hand Mu over to me. You go ahead and eat your breakfast; I'll feed Mu." Mu Chuchen stood up and reached out, hoping to take her son into her arms.

Having lived two lifetimes, she had never felt such a strong desire to hold her son as she did at that moment.

Ye Junhao glared at her coldly.

Ye Mu clung to Ye Junhao's neck, frightened.

Their reaction dampened Mu Chuchen's warmth, and she sat back down with an awkward smile.

"Chuchen."

Ye Junhao spoke icily. Seeing Mu Chuchen smiling at him, he hesitated but eventually made his point clear.

"Have you changed your tactics?" he asked, his voice laced with sarcasm. "You really are relentless in your pursuit of a divorce."

Mu Chuchen was silent. That was her old self; in her past life, she had indeed been desperate for a divorce, but Ye Junhao had always refused, perhaps wanting their son to have a complete family.

After a pause, Ye Junhao seemed to come to a decision. "My schedule is full today; I can't find the time. But tomorrow, I'll make an hour available. We'll go to the Civil Affairs Bureau and finalize the divorce proceedings."
