C5 I Don't Want to Divorce!

She wanted to leave him, and he let go, allowing her to walk away.

Making this decision tore at Ye Junhao's heart.

Mu Chuchen's smile stiffened on her lips.

Divorce?

Ye Junhao wanted to divorce her!

At a time when she was determined to make a good life with him and swore never to leave, he shockingly agreed to a divorce. In her past life, no matter how much she protested, he had refused to let her go. It was only after she ran away with Chung Sen that she left everything behind.

Panic surged within Mu Chuchen.

She didn't want a divorce, didn't want to leave this home, didn't want to leave Ye Junhao and their son.

"I know where Chung Sen is. He's the one you love. I'll let him know to come for you. I hope... you two will find happiness," Ye Junhao said, his voice growing colder with each word.

Letting go was still excruciating.

"No!"

Mu Chuchen's voice was almost a shriek.

"I don't agree to a divorce!"

After all the effort it took to be reborn, she hadn't even begun to make amends. How could she leave now?

Ye Junhao looked up, his wife's face etched with resolve, and his confusion deepened. His brow furrowed, he asked her coldly, "Haven't you caused all this trouble just to be with that man? Now that I've consented to the divorce, what more do you want? A share of the assets?"

He paused, then offered a concession, "If it's the assets you're after, I'm willing to give you half of everything in my name."

Mu Chuchen hurried to clarify, "That's not it."

Ye Junhao arched an eyebrow, "Then tell me, what do I need to do for you to consent to the divorce?"

"I won't divorce you, not in this lifetime!"

Ye Junhao's expression was unreadable. He watched her in silence for a long moment before picking up their son and walking out the door.

Mu Chuchen's mouth opened to call after him, but the words retreated unspoken. She could only watch as Ye Junhao carried their son away.

Minutes later, Ye Junhao's private car departed from the villa.

After an indeterminate amount of time, Mu Chuchen rose and made her way into the kitchen, startling Ms. Zhang and Aunt Jiang, who were enjoying their breakfast.

"Madam," Ms. Zhang said, springing to her feet. "What would you like to eat? I can prepare it for you right away."

Mu Chuchen took in the nannies' reactions without a hint of irritation and asked politely, "Have today's ingredients been purchased? Are there any bones? I'd like to make some soup for Jun Hao. He hardly ate anything earlier, and with his busy schedule, he could use some nourishment."

"Yes, they've been bought. We have bones," Ms. Zhang replied, assisting Chuchen by fetching the fresh bones. "Madam, allow me to make the soup for you."

Madam, accustomed to being waited on hand and foot, was presumed to lack any soup-making skills. After all, during her years of service with the Ye Family, Ms. Zhang had never once seen the lady of the house cook.

"Thank you, but there's no need. I'll handle it myself," Chuchen insisted, wanting to express her genuine care.

Ms. Zhang held her tongue, inwardly offering her sympathies to the master of the house.

To Ms. Zhang's amazement, Chuchen skillfully began cleaning the bones. Previously, Chuchen hadn't known the first thing about making soup, but after eloping with Chung Sen, she was determined to win his heart and cook for him as other devoted wives did. She invested in a year of culinary lessons and, with two more years of practice, her cooking skills soared impressively.

Eventually, Chung Sen preferred only the meals she prepared, shunning food from elsewhere.

If not for her terminal illness, perhaps she and Chung Sen might have continued to live in what appeared to be marital bliss.

Casting aside Chung Sen's memory, Chuchen politely declined Ms. Zhang's offer of assistance. She was intent on personally preparing the soup for Jun Hao.

With their offer to help gently refused, Ms. Zhang and Aunt Jiang didn't dare to insist. They quietly exited the kitchen, leaving Chuchen to her own devices.
