C6 Sending Soup to My Husband
At Jun's Group, in the CEO's office, Ye Junhao was swiftly processing documents. Every so often, he glanced at his son, who was engrossed in playing with toys on the sofa.
Today's morning schedule was packed. In addition to paperwork, he had a business meeting at Jun's Hotel with CEO Shang, followed by an important company meeting back at the office.
With a substantial pile of documents to get through, Ye Junhao worked at breakneck speed to ensure he could make it to Jun's Hotel on time.
By 9:45 AM, Ye Junhao had finished with the documents and promptly stood up, heading towards the sofa.
Seeing his father approach, Ye Mu gripped the sofa to stand, toys still in hand. He reached out to his father, who then scooped him up into his arms.
Secretary Ming Yu entered after a polite knock, intending to remind his boss it was time to head to Jun's Hotel. Noticing Ye Junhao holding Ye Mu, Ming Yu understood the situation but still responsibly reminded, "Boss, it's time to head to the hotel."
Ye Junhao gave a nod in acknowledgment.
Cradling his son, he strode out of the office, with Ming Yu trailing behind.
At the elevator, Ye Junhao encountered Mu Chuchen delivering soup to him.
The sight of Mu Chuchen emerging from his private elevator caught Ye Junhao off guard. Despite years of marriage, Mu Chuchen seldom visited Jun's Group, a place others eagerly sought out, yet she remained indifferent.
The couple locked eyes for a moment before Ye Junhao's attention shifted to the insulated lunchbox in Mu Chuchen's grip.
Mu Chuchen's grip tightened on the handle, her nerves getting the better of her as she struggled to find the right words.
Ye Junhao, however, spoke first, his voice devoid of emotion as he pointed out, "You're in my way."
Mu Chuchen instinctively sidestepped.
With his son in his arms, Ye Junhao pressed the elevator button and stepped inside. As he turned to close the doors, a voice halted him.
"Wait."
Mu Chuchen, regaining her composure, dashed into the elevator just ahead of Ming Yu.
Ye Junhao gazed down at her with a cold, piercing stare. Mu Chuchen could swear the temperature in the elevator plummeted with the intensity of his gaze.
She couldn't back down now!
She was determined to mend her marriage with Ye Junhao and make the most of their time together before her cancer diagnosis. With this resolve, Mu Chuchen lifted her head to bravely meet Ye Junhao's icy stare, and then, she smiled. Her beauty was undeniable, and her smile was disarmingly sweet.
Her smile momentarily unsettled Ye Junhao, but he quickly regained his composure, tightening his hold on his son, Ye Mu, and stepping back a couple of paces.
Ming Yu, sensing the tension, thought better of entering and allowed the elevator doors to close on their own.
"Jun Hao."
Mu Chuchen's smile was exceptionally tender as she offered up the insulated lunchbox, "I brought you some soup."
Ye Junhao's eyes flickered with surprise.
Soup for him?
This was indeed a first.
"I made this soup myself," Mu Chuchen explained. "You're always so busy; you need to take care of yourself."
Realizing the awkwardness of the setting, she added with a playful smile, "Oh, I forgot, we're in an elevator, and it's not convenient for you to have soup here. How about you let me hold Mu, and you can try some now?"
Ye Mu clung to his father's neck, making it clear he had no intention of going to his mother. He was both afraid of her and disliked her.
Ye Junhao fixed his gaze on Mu Chuchen for an intense five minutes before finally extending a hand to accept the lunchbox. He managed a tight-lipped thank you, his voice low and frosty.
Inside, he was reeling.
Soup she had made herself?
After more than three years of marriage, to a woman who had never stepped foot in the kitchen, it was astonishing she would personally prepare soup for him. Ye Junhao couldn't help but feel a twinge of suspicion. Could the soup contain poison, like arsenic?
If he were to die, she would regain her freedom, inherit his substantial wealth, and then, with his fortune, run off to her first love...
