C22 Apologize to Mu Wanqi

On the way back to the villa, Moo Nuannuan chose to spend her time scrolling down Weibo. She wasn't shaking in anger as she had previously done while she stared at their hateful words. Instead, she couldn't help but be intrigued by the way they had phrased them–as if she was truly the one at fault.

The 'Ugly Gold Digger' was still trending online as many influencers jumped on the bandwagon to 'cancel' her from social media. "This woman had the nerve to betray her own sister after what she had done to her," one of them commented. "Ugh, Mu Wanqi didn't deserve to have a sister like her! That bitch!"

"Right? Ugh, I could beat her with a shovel," one of them responded. With just a few words of affirmation from the media, every single one of the readers had already turned against her. As if they knew the entire story! The grip she had on her phone tightened even further.

She was the victim, yet all she had gotten from these people were hate messages and death wishes! And Moo Wanqi, the mastermind behind it all, got fame and fortune straight into her pockets. Didn't she have enough? Why was she always looking for more?

Not being able to help herself, Moo Nuannuan sent Shen Liang a message,

"Introduce me to one of the reporters."

"Why? What are you going to do?!"

Although they were far away, she could sense her friend's excitement busting from the screen. Moo Nuannuan struggled to hide a smile as she stared at her friend's text. Only she would be jumping on her seat with this!

"I'm not going to just sit here and be bashed for nothing."

"Yes, girl! Kill that woman," she immediately responded. "I'll help you contact a friend of mine. She has more followers than me, so reaching the people would be a piece of cake."

Shen Liang couldn't stand Moo Wanqi's self-centered attitude. "The woman is already in the late stages of having the Princess Syndrome," she'd always say, rolling her eyes whenever they crossed paths. They definitely weren't the best of friends, that was for sure.

Moo Nuannuan could only sigh helplessly after her friend. "You're probably the only want who's cheering me on," she murmured to herself, shaking her head. Shen Liang always had the ears for drama like this, and for her, going against people like her wasn't that big of a deal. She had always pushed her to act out against her family.

However, since this matter had escalated to a point of no return, Moo Nuannuan had no choice but to act out. Right now, she might as well make things worse.

Since Moo Wanqi wanted to call her a backstabbing sister, then so be it!

Let her see who she's messing with.

At three in the afternoon, the sunbeams glowed even brighter, scorching the pavement below it. It was the perfect time to drink some tea and scroll through social media. And it was also the perfect time to stir some trouble. Moo Nuannuan quickly typed in her message and posted it.

Within a few seconds, various people rushed to the other street to grab their friends to talk about the newest update. "Guess what she just posted!" They quickly waved their phones up in the air as if they just found the secret map that could lead them all to a treasure chest.

There, in the top trending list, was a simple Weibo post. And all it said was 'Sorry'.

In less than two hours, the number of comments under that post had exceeded ten thousand. Many of them questioned why she had apologized and why it had taken her that long to say 'sorry'. All of them scrutinized the account to see who it was from, only to be surprised.

Moo Nuannuan had posted it on her own account!

She also had the marketing agent send a few screenshots and used a series of speculation to prove that this Weibo post was truly involved in the scandal and that Moo Nuannuan seemed to be guilty with this entire debacle. Upon reading this, her post slowly scrolled up to the top.

Soon enough, her post was filled with different curses.

"This family is horrible," one of them commented. "Damn them all to hell."

It didn't take long for Shen Liang to catch on to the news, and as soon as she had read the posts, she was just about to explode in anger. "Are you kidding me, Nuannuan?" She waved her hands in the air as soon as her friend had picked up the phone. "You asked me for a paparazzi's number to apologize to her? Do you want me to head over there right now and cut you open? I didn't just go home just to watch you make a fool of yourself."

"I'm not going to make a fool of myself."

She gritted her teeth. "Then what are you planning?"

When Shen Liang saw the post, she didn't want to believe that her friend had posted such a thing. But as soon as she clicked the profile name, it was confirmed. The account really belonged to none other than Moo Nuannuan. She had no other choice but to call that woman right away.

Even then, she still believed that her friend had something else up her sleeves.

After all, Moo Nuannuan had been suppressing her anger for the Moo family all these years. She wasn't that simple as some might assume.

"I have a big gift waiting for Moo Wanqi." She paused before continuing lowly, "A large gift that will follow her throughout her entire lifetime."

Shen Liang came from a more prestigious family–a rank higher than the Moo's. Back when they had first crossed paths, she offered to take care of Wanqi a long time ago. With her connections and prestige, no one would dare stand in her way. But Moo Nuannuan always held her back.

Now that she was finally taking action, she couldn't help but feel a little agitated. "Well, if you need me, you know where to find me."

In Mu Tingxiao's villa, the door to the study was pushed open.

Shi Ye walked, placing his tablet on the desk. "Young Madame apologized to Moo Wanqi on Weibo."

Mu Tingxiao was scanning over all his official contracts. Although he didn't officially take over the Mu's business, he had his own dealings in private. He wasn't the type of person who liked to do things under the public eye, and besides, he preferred to have those rumors of his scarred appearance afloat.

Hearing his assistant's words, he glanced at the tablet.

It had taken him a second to take it all in before he lowered his head. "She didn't say Moo Wanqi's name, so she isn't apologizing to her." His voice remained calm and detached.

"So...you mean..." As soon as Shi Ye had seen Moo Nuannuan, he immediately regarded her as an unattractive and dull woman. This was why he didn't think much of it when he saw the woman's post, assuming that she had done this because of sheer stupidity. However, it seemed that this wasn't the case.

"Don't interfere just yet. Tell me if there's any progress with this matter."

Although he had only seen Moo Wanqi once, it was enough for him to know that the woman had been spoiled rotten by her family members. It had gotten to the point where her actions had become lawless and brash. She didn't have much of a brain to puzzle things together either.

At least, when she was talking with him.

Moo Nuannuan however, was different. She didn't grow up with shameless praises and blind encouragement–only deception and cruelty. She was constantly rejected by her own family, pushing her to rely on her two hands. Although she looked stupid, he had assumed that this was all an act.

If the woman really wanted to fight back, she'd succeed all on her own.

And if not...The corners of his lips inched up. He'd be willing to help her out if she had begged him otherwise.

Just the thought of it was enough to make him smile

Suddenly, his phone vibrated, snapping him out of his reverie.

As soon as he saw the Caller ID, his face darkened.

It was an international call,. Although there wasn't any name, he didn't have to guess to know exactly who was calling him at this hour.

"You can leave first." His eyes were still trained at his screen.

Shi Ye, who was very familiar with his actions, had already guessed who the call was from. "I'll update you if anything were to happen," he said, bowing his head before taking his leave. It seemed that his responsibilities further extended to his wife from this point forward.

It was only after he had exited the study did Mu Tingxiao pressed the answer button on his phone.

"Tingxiao, what's with all the news I'm seeing on the internet?" A woman's questioning voice sounded from the other line. "It said something along the lines of you marrying an ugly and stupid woman! God! You're clearly in good health! Why don't you just show yourself instead of letting others misunderstand your looks! Do you really want such an ugly gold digger crawling around the estate? Well?"

"Mu Jinyun!" He gritted his teeth.

"If you've forgotten, that's not a way to talk to your older sister!"

"You were born two minutes earlier than me. That doesn't count as being older." He scoffed. The last thing he needed was to be lectured by his twin.

"Look, you know I'm not here to argue with you," Mu Jinyun started. This time, her voice was softer. "I just don't understand why you have to pretend to be some cripple all these years. Look, even a woman from that small family dared to trick you. Why are you doing this? Once your father retires, do you still want to..."

"Stop it." Mu Tingxiao gripped his phone.

"You think you know everything, but you weren't there! You weren't there when Mom was beaten to death! You weren't there when they abused her! You think you can run away from your problems by living overseas, but I can't!" He took a deep breath. "I need to find her murderer, Jinyun. I just have to."

"Those kidnappers have been found long ago!"

"No! The real murderer is still out there." His jaw clenched and he stomped his foot onto the carpet. His face became gloomy. "That morning, we had changed our route at the last minute. Remember? There must be someone here who had informed them for the kidnappers to change route that fast. And I need to find them!"

All the memories he had of that day had resurfaced, and the hatred bubbled up in his chest.

Not wanting to talk to his sister anymore, he slammed his phone onto his desk.

Every time she called, they would have this conversation, yet no one shared his sentiments. For them, the events were nothing more than a nuisance–that it was just a thing of the past. Mu Tingxiao scowled. He wasn't going to let that murderer go so easily. He'd find the man and kill him.

Suddenly, a knock sounded, and it was soon followed by Moo Nuannuan's voice, "Mu Tingxiao, are you there?"
