C7 You're Going To Do It For Me

Mu Tingxiao didn't expect to see Moo Nuannuan here in the slums. With multiple gang members and hardened criminals crawling under the shadows, this wasn't a safe place for a woman. Hell, this wasn't a safe place for anyone for that matter. Unless she'd like to get mugged or killed, she should run the other way!

Even he knew how dangerous this place was. Mu Tingxiao had taken the risk to follow one of his leads into the alleyway, but he wasn't expecting to be struck instead. He winced as the pain pulsed through his veins. At this point, it would be impossible to make a run for it. They must find a place to hide.

The streets around them were densely packed with concessionaires crowding every street corner. It was almost impossible to tell where they were, and the likelihood of getting lost continued to increase every second. So much for kidnapping. He clenched his fists. Just when he had thought of accomplishing his task, he had to run into Moo Nuannuan–out of all the people in the world.

But for some reason, as soon as he saw her concerned face, there was an inexplicable sense of trust that burst in his heart. His eyes softened.

"What are you doing here?" He finally put away his weapon.

"I–I live here," she stuttered. Although he had already put it away, she could still feel the cold remnants of hard metal rubbing against her forehead. A shiver shot down her spine, as she eyed the pedestrians walking about–none of them batting an eyelid. It was as if they were used to all this chaos, having played a part in them as well.

What? How could the third lady of the Moo family live in a dump? Surprise flashed in his eyes.

However, he quickly regained his composure. "Just take me to your place."

"No." Letting this man know where she lived was like signing a death contract!

"Fine." He shrugged. "Then I can just head back and tell my dear cousin of mine that you've seduced me."

Seduce him? As if she'd even touch him if he hadn't forced her hand!

However, it wasn't as if she had any other choice. Mu Tingxiao would definitely believe Mu Jiachen if the opportunity had risen; after all, they were cousins, and she was nothing more than an outsider. Her jaw clenched in frustration. It was like being stuck between a rock and a hard place!

A few seconds had passed, and Moo Nuannuan finally turned around. "Fine," she said bitterly. "Come with me."

The two of them had only walked down the alleyway for around thirty seconds when a loud bang echoed across the streets. She froze, and her face paled even more. Without another word, they hurried down the narrow streets.

She could see two shadows of men struggling to catch up with them.

Mu Tingxiao reacted quickly. As soon as he heard the footsteps, he immediately pulled her into an empty alley before dragging her into a random safe house. The house was already deserted, so there wasn't any chance that those men would think that they were hiding there. He brought a finger to his lips, motioning for her to be quiet as he peeked by the entryway.

When they've finally, he pulled Moo Nuannuan out from the shadows.

What the hell was that? Who did he offend? As she stared at the chiseled man dragging her away, a million more questions popped at the back of her mind, but she forced herself to stay quiet. This wasn't the time to interrogate him any further. Instead, she quickly followed through as she directed him to her apartment.

A minute later, they finally arrived.

Moo Nuannuan made sure to lock every single opening of her apartment, looking like a thief who had just snuck in her own room. Once everything was all checked out, the adrenaline in her veins had dulled, and she could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"What the hell was that?"

She whirled towards him, but just as she was about to throw him a flurry of questions, he turned and collapsed. His body hit the tiled floors as his hand went up to his chest as if he was trying to restrain himself from groaning out in pain. His skin glistened under the dim lights, coated with sweat.

Her expression changed immediately as she rushed over to help him out. "Hey! What's wrong?"

However, no matter how hard she tried to pull him to the couch, it was no use. The man was far too large for her to carry, and his limp arms weren't doing much help either. As soon as Moo Nuannuan retracted her arms, her eyes widened. They were coated in fresh blood. He was shot! What the hell did he get himself into?

Only then did she notice that his face was as pale as a ghost. The black clothes had shielded him very well. "Shit! What did you get yourself into?"

At the sight of her panicked expression, Mu Tingxiao suddenly grabbed her hand. The corners of his lips lifted. "What are you so afraid of?" His voice was frail. "I'll be fine. But if I do die, I guess, you'll just have to join me."

It was hard to tell whether he was trying to comfort her or threaten her.

And she wasn't in the mood to play his games! Withdrawing from his hold, she quickly looked for her phone. "I'm calling an ambulance."

"No, don't." His face suddenly darkened, and he forcefully pulled her hand.

The grip he had on her was tighter now, and there was a certain shimmer in his eyes that showed he was serious. If Moo Nuannuan called the hospital right now, he definitely wouldn't go, and after what just happened–she still needed more details. Her hands trembled as she slowly nodded in concession.

"How about I'll bandage your wound?"

"Get me a pair of blades, a lighter, candle, bandages, and some towels," Mu Tingxiao ordered, ignoring her offer.

He wanted to take the bullets out himself.

"I...but you can't take them out yourself!" She waved her hands up int the air. "You'll die!"

"Who said about me taking the bullet out?" Mu Tingxiao turned his head to look at her. The coldness in his eyes had dissipated. Instead, there was sincerity hidden within its depths, one that was enough to draw her in. However, she immediately snapped out of her reverie when she heard his next words,

"You're going to do it for me."
