Is she indirectly making me feel like she helped me?

I know and still remember that Kate's parents had me adopted due to her persistence and yes, I once had a family but unfortunately, my parent's died in a fatal accident, people Whispered they were run over by a car that took off immediately.

I had the police investigate but there was no news, eventually, they got tried running in circles and so the entire investigation stopped.

There was no one to take care of me, my aunts and uncles all had a share in dad's properties and refused to keep even a little of the inheritance for me.

Back then, I lived in the streets not until Kate came into my life, she was my savior, and friend and gradually became my sister.

And when she had told me, that her parents wanted to adopt me, I refused to believe it, but later on, found myself surrounded by the one thing I longed for so long.

And that was a family, her parents gave me both the love of a mom and dad, and Kate also showered me with lots of love and mostly her used clothes to wear.

How do I get over the fact that I'm about to do something wrong, I'm going to switch places with Kate; no way, I can't possibly do that to mom and dad.

"I'm sorry Kate, I can't do that, please get out of my path".

She shifts and I rode past her wearing a frown, I walked into the celebration and the groom and his family had arrived.

Kaylan wore his tux, and gosh he has never looked so good, I stared so much that I almost slammed my head to the wall.

"Alina dear,"

Dad called.

"Yes, dad,"

I ran to meet him handing some envelopes to me, "please go up to my bedroom and keep this inside my cupboard" he instructed.

I nodded and rushed up, I walked past Kate's room and something grabbed my attention, I heard her talking on the phone, she was talking to flee from her wedding at any cost.

I panicked.

I wanted to barge into her room but remembered that dad had asked me to keep the envelopes still in my possession inside his bedroom.

I ran off to do so.

I came back to Alina's room and knocked on the door.

When she didn't answer, Immediately went down to inform our parents.

I found mom talking to some guests and right next to her, dad was also busied talking to his friends.

The next-door neighbor, Mr. Smith, and the newspaper vendor, Mrs. Mathilda.

I came to meet mom.

"Mom, please come with me?". I said. She looks at me and asked if everything was okay. I didn't much give her a reply and seeing that. She grabbed my hands and we walked away.

I also grabbed dad on our way up to Kate's bedroom.

"Alina, what's going on, why are we going to Kate's room?".

Mom impatiently asked me.

I made no response to her question. It was better to have her see for herself than to alter a single word.

We stopped at Kate's door.

I looked at the curious faces of my parents, before opening the door.

I wonder how will they react when the truth of kate running away from her wedding will be.

Mom was the first person to enter.

Following behind was dad.

I came next and the first thing, mom asked was, where is your sister?"

She faced me, gripping her hands together.

I had nothing to say and if that wasn't enough drama, dad points out the fact that Kate's windows were opened and a rope flung outside.

She must have fled with Christian.

"I think she ran away from her wedding,". I confirmed the truth, they were both ignorant to say.

Mom almost fell unconscious. Thankfully dad helped her.

I still can't understand, why would Kate run away from her wedding.

If ever she didn't want to get married to Kaylan, why then allow the preparation to take place and not stop it on time

The wedding is about to take place in an hour, how would we go down to tell the guests and the groom's family that, the bride ran away?

What has my sister done?...
