C1 The Abandoned Wife of a Wealthy Family Was Being Taken Care Of!!

"Miss Mo, bringing lunch for the boss again? He's in a meeting, but you can go in and wait."

Mo Ya heard the secretary's teasing tone and forced a smile as she carried the lunchbox into the CEO's office. Even after closing the door, she could faintly hear the secretary's mocking remarks outside. She didn't need to listen closely to know they were talking about her.

Sure enough—

"See that? She's the one who got dumped by the rich family. On the day of her divorce, she was already trying to cozy up to someone else. I bet she was up to no good long before, which is why she got divorced. That was the Ann family, after all."

"Are you crazy? Watch what you say. Don't forget, her current benefactor is our boss. Compared to him, the Ann family is nothing."

"But I heard the reason Miss Mo got divorced was because of something that happened on her wedding day..."

Mo Ya heard these whispers almost daily. Over the past month, she'd grown accustomed to them, even though they were always humiliating. But so what if they were? It was the truth.

Yem Mohan knew her reputation was tarnished, yet he insisted she bring him lunch every day. Sometimes he wouldn't even eat it, but she still had to make the trip, and she couldn't refuse.

She was a cast-off from a wealthy family, a woman the Ann family didn't want. Her ex-husband, Ann Jie, had told her that a woman like her, who was available to anyone, wouldn't find a place in the city. Her own family had disowned her the day she divorced Ann Jie, publicly cutting ties. She was a discarded pawn, a woman who had supposedly wronged her husband, earning Ann Jie's deep hatred.

Yem Mohan had taken her in when everyone else abandoned her, when she had nowhere else to turn. She was grateful for that. Even though she knew it was all because of the arrangement between her and Yem Mohan, she had no choice but to accept it. She resigned herself to her fate, yet refused to completely give in.

"You're here?"

As soon as the table was set, the door swung open, and a cold, stern voice echoed behind her. Mo Ya instinctively tensed up before turning to face him. Her smile was a bit forced, but she had no choice. The man before her, with his stern demeanor, had made it clear that even if she felt like crying, she had to smile in his presence.

"Dinner's ready. Let's eat."

"No need. I have another meeting."

See, she knew it. He clearly didn't have time to eat, yet before she left, he had called to remind her. Sometimes, Mo Ya couldn't figure out what this man was thinking.

"By the way, join me for a dinner party tonight."

Yem Mohan said as he set down his suit jacket and glanced at his documents.

Surprised, Mo Ya asked, "A dinner party? Can I skip it?"

If she went, she would see those people. She wasn't ready to face them yet. But Yem Mohan was used to getting his way, and there was no way he'd let her off the hook.

"No, you can't. You're my date, and you have to accompany me. I've already arranged for a stylist. All you need to do is get ready."

"But... I'm... afraid of running into... running into..."

She knew it would come to this. Mo Ya was nervous, her words stumbling out, which only irritated Yem Mohan. He couldn't stand her timid, bullied demeanor.

He suddenly looked up, his eyes fixed on Mo Ya. His gaze was calm and unreadable, yet deeply penetrating. His presence was cold and commanding, and though his handsome face was one many women would envy, to Mo Ya, it felt distant and unapproachable.

"You're worried about running into your ex-husband, aren't you?"
