C19 Ann Yiyi's Thoughts
Mo Ya couldn't believe it—they actually recorded a video. Why hadn't there been any hint of this before? What were they trying to do? Ruin her wasn't enough? They had to keep evidence too? What were these people up to?
"So, do you want to see it? Or maybe you want it? Trade me something for it, or maybe I'll be generous enough to give it back to you."
Mo Ya took a deep breath, trying to suppress her rising anger. Her eyes were cold, and her fists clenched as she looked at Ann Yiyi and asked, "What do you want?"
"What do I want? I want that necklace around your neck. Trade it with me!"
Ann Yiyi's words almost made Mo Ya lose her composure, ready to confront her right there. But just as she was about to act, she noticed a fleeting look of cunning and mockery in Ann Yiyi's eyes.
In that moment, Mo Ya's anger was doused like a fire with a bucket of water. True, for a moment she had believed Ann Yiyi really had the video. But thinking it through calmly, it was impossible. She had been with Yem Mohan for a month now. If there was a video, why wait until now? And for someone like Ann Yiyi to reveal it? That didn't make sense.
Even if they had such a crucial piece of evidence, it would be much more valuable to use it to negotiate with Yem Mohan. So, it was very likely that Ann Yiyi was just bluffing, trying to deceive her.
With this realization, Mo Ya felt more grounded, no longer as fearful and angry as when she first heard the news. Her demeanor became increasingly calm, which Ann Yiyi mistook for gradual submission.
"How about it? It's a fair trade, right? Given how favored you are now, you won't be short of necklaces like that. Mo Ya, you should think carefully—do you want to be a woman everyone can have, or the one Yem Mohan cherishes?"
The more Mo Ya looked at Ann Yiyi, the more she was convinced that this woman was just trying to scare her. Not too dim, it seemed Ann Yiyi had gained some smarts from acting. But what she didn't realize was that Mo Ya had long since moved beyond her past.
"Are you after my necklace?"
"Yes!"
Ann Yiyi was bold, thinking she could still act like she used to—snatching every piece of jewelry she fancied without a word of protest. Was she dreaming? Was she not fully awake in broad daylight?
"Everyone knows this necklace was a gift from Yem Mohan. If it shows up on you, what will people think? Have you considered that?"
Ann Yiyi hadn't thought it through; she was just speaking impulsively because the necklace was so beautiful. But hearing Mo Ya's words made her realize the truth—everyone knew about the necklace, and she couldn't wear it out.
Her frustration flared up again, and she glared at Mo Ya, saying angrily, "Then today, I'll pick out enough jewelry, and you'll foot the bill, Mo Ya. You don't care about that, right?"
Without waiting for Mo Ya's response, Ann Yiyi turned and walked to another display, not caring whether Mo Ya would agree or not. The display was filled with limited edition, high-end jewelry, all very expensive. Ann Yiyi was determined to choose carefully, so she did so with abandon.
Mo Ya stood there, smirking at the confident girl. She didn't have a dime on her, and Ann Yiyi expected her to pay? Dream on! Let's see how this plays out.
Mo Ya pulled out her phone and sent a message to Ping'an. It was time to release all the news about Ann Yiyi. Ann Yiyi had been living too comfortably and wanted a change; as her former sister-in-law, Mo Ya was happy to oblige.
Lina, standing nearby, observed the entire exchange. Seeing Ann Yiyi strutting over to select jewelry, she knew Mo Ya must have suffered a loss. After asking a familiar salesperson, she realized Mo Ya had something on Ann Yiyi. That worked for Lina—someone else was taking the lead, allowing her to work behind the scenes more effectively.
Lina picked up her phone and dialed an unfamiliar number.
“Get the car ready. I have a special gift for you, and I promise it's something truly extraordinary!”
