C4 Fool Sports Actually Has Version 375
Although she was initially reluctant, once Shiyu actually tasted the food at this Cantonese restaurant, she had to admit it lived up to its reputation. By the time she and Xiaoxiao left, she had loosened her belt by two notches.
The two strolled along, enjoying the night breeze. For a moment, Shiyu forgot about her recent breakup, happily playing with her shadow under the streetlights.
“Hey, Xiaoxiao,” Shiyu suddenly dashed in front of her friend, grinning mischievously. “Do you know what you remind me of today?”
Xiaoxiao let Shiyu take her hand, smiling gently. “What?”
Shiyu took a couple of steps back and laughed, “You remind me of my mom! Haha!”
Xiaoxiao’s face turned bright red. She grabbed her purse and chased after Shiyu, shouting, “Shiyu, you’re in trouble now!”
They playfully chased each other, their laughter ringing out under the dim streetlights.
“Alright, I’m done chasing you.” Xiaoxiao stopped, panting, realizing how silly she must have looked running in heels.
Shiyu wasn’t much better off. She hadn’t exercised in ages, and after running for so long, her throat felt a bit raw.
They had reached the bottom of Shiyu’s apartment building. After exchanging a few more words, Xiaoxiao patted her on the shoulder and prepared to leave.
Shiyu stood there, watching her go, when Xiaoxiao suddenly stopped after getting into her car. “Yu, remember there’s a class reunion in a few days. Do you remember?”
“A class reunion? Who organized it?” Shiyu asked, puzzled.
Xiaoxiao thought for a moment. “I think it’s because our old class president is getting married, so they set up a reunion.”
“Oh.” Shiyu nodded. “Are you going?”
"I wasn't planning to go, but the class president's wife is my cousin, so..." Moo Xiaoxiao hadn't expected things to align so perfectly.
Hearing that Moo Xiaoxiao was going, Ruan Shiyu readily agreed, "Since you're going, I'll go too."
With Ruan Shiyu on board, Moo Xiaoxiao perked up a bit. "How about I pick you up then?"
"Sure."
With that settled, Moo Xiaoxiao drove off, and Ruan Shiyu turned to head upstairs.
Ruan Shiyu wasn't having the best luck; just as she reached the elevator, the doors were about to close. She hurriedly called out and ran over.
Her luck turned, though, as the doors, which seemed to be closing, slowly opened again. Ruan Shiyu quickly squeezed in.
Once inside, she promptly thanked the person who held the door.
"No problem." The voice was calm and soothing, and with just those words, Ruan Shiyu felt a bit flustered.
She looked up to see a somewhat familiar man standing before her. He was the son of Mrs. Qian, her neighbor. Rumor had it he graduated from a renowned medical school abroad and, at just thirty, was already a chief physician at a hospital.
He didn't live there regularly, only occasionally visiting his parents. Since Ruan Shiyu had moved in over two weeks ago, she'd only seen him two or three times.
Maybe it was the intensity of his gaze, but standing next to him felt overwhelming. She wanted to say something but held back, standing awkwardly beside him, barely daring to move.
The elevator in the building was decent, so the awkward atmosphere didn't last long before they reached their floor.
As the man exited, Ruan Shiyu quickly followed, darting back to her small apartment like a rabbit. Once she closed the door, she finally exhaled deeply.
She walked to her room, flopped onto her bed, pulled out her phone from her pocket, and opened an app.
Today was her first day using the Fool Sports app, and she was curious to see how many steps she had taken. To her surprise, Ruan Shiyu discovered that the app seemed to have a glitch—it was showing version 3075!
Ruan Shiyu looked at her phone with a bit of frustration, unable to understand how the app, which was working fine when she left home, suddenly seemed broken by the evening, inexplicably jumping to this bizarre version. Lying in bed, she raised her hand slightly, navigated to app management, and chose to delete it. Then, she opened the app store, intending to download a new version.
Suddenly, Ruan Shiyu sat up in bed, staring at her phone in bewilderment. She kept pressing the delete button, but no matter how many times she tried, the Fool Sports 3075 version stubbornly remained on her phone, refusing to be removed.
“What’s going on?” Ruan Shiyu muttered irritably. Seeing that she couldn’t delete the strange app, she opted for the most common solution: turning the phone off and on again. During the few seconds it took for her phone to reboot, Ruan Shiyu lay back on the bed with a blank expression.
Earlier that afternoon, while having tea with Moo Xiaoxiao, she had claimed indifference, but the years of emotions were real. Out of habit, she picked up her phone, intending to check Zhan Ann’s social media. It was only when she saw the startup screen that she remembered she had deleted everything related to Zhan Ann after their breakup.
With a couple of self-deprecating laughs, she watched her phone finish booting up. Ruan Shiyu gathered her resolve and resumed her battle with the mysterious app version. “Hello, host. Fool Sports No.3075 at your service.” Despite her repeated attempts to delete it, the app persisted. Originally patient, Ruan Shiyu was now on edge. She opened the app to see what was going on, only to hear a strange electronic sound from her phone, even though it was set to silent.
Startled, Ruan Shiyu’s hand jerked, and she tossed the phone aside.
She stood frozen, staring at her phone in terror for a long moment. When it didn't make any more strange noises, she began to doubt if she had misheard. With trembling hands, she reached out and retrieved the phone she had tossed away in panic.
"Hello, user. I'm Fool Sports No. 3075. Is there anything I can assist you with?" Her phone, oblivious to the recent commotion, spoke again the moment it was back in Ruan Shiyu's hands. Although the voice was gentler, it didn't change the fact that Ruan Shiyu seemed to have encountered something bizarre.
"A ghost—!!" Her scream pierced the night, waking many from their peaceful dreams.
Ruan Shiyu crouched beside the living room table, having turned on every light, making the room almost blindingly bright. She had placed the phone at the far end of the table, and when it was silent, it looked just like the normal phone it had been earlier that afternoon.
"So, you're some kind of fool from a thousand years in the future?" Ruan Shiyu was fully armed, holding a spatula as a weapon, her eyes filled with caution as she looked at the phone.
After more than ten minutes of "friendly negotiation," Ruan Shiyu finally learned from the system what exactly was inside her phone. According to the system, it was a fitness assistant designed by future fools for people like her who are too lazy to exercise, love staying up late, and are homebodies at risk of sudden health issues. Completing tasks earns rewards, while failing to complete them results in penalties. Ultimately, once the final goal is reached, the contract with the user is terminated.
Even though No. 3075 had explained countless times that it would only benefit her health, Ruan Shiyu remained skeptical.
No. 3075 was also a bit frustrated. It had accidentally traveled back from centuries in the future and ended up in someone's phone. Wasn't it said that people from the past were easy to convince? Just mentioning the system should have made the user happily accept it. Why did it have to encounter such a difficult user?
Despite feeling overwhelmed, the fact remained that No. 3075 had signed a contract with Ruan Shiyu, and everything had to proceed according to the agreement.
Once more, it explained to Ruan Shiyu, "Hello, host. This system is the Fool Sports 3075 version, No. 3075, and will be responsible for your upcoming exercise needs. Rest assured, it will absolutely not have any adverse effects on your body."
Ruan Shiyu couldn't shake the feeling that the system's electronic voice had particularly emphasized a couple of words.
"So, you're set on me being your host? Can't you switch to someone else?" Ruan Shiyu leaned a bit closer to her phone, still holding the metal spatula high, ready to smack it down if the phone acted up. "I could give this phone to someone else who needs you more."
"Host, we've already signed the contract," the system replied, sounding resigned.
Ruan Shiyu was still reluctant and tried to negotiate with the system to go with someone else. But no matter how much she pleaded, the system's response was always the same: once the contract was signed, it was hers, and nothing more could be done.
Resigned, Ruan Shiyu accepted that this system might be with her for a long time. She picked up her phone and headed back to her room.
"Can I really not give you to someone else?" she asked, holding onto a last shred of hope as she looked at her phone with a pleading expression.
The system didn't answer her question. After a moment of silence, it reverted to its initial emotionless electronic voice: "Issuing the first mandatory task: wake up at six a.m. tomorrow and jog three laps around the neighborhood. Please wake up on time and complete the task successfully."
"???" Ruan Shiyu lay on the bed, staring at her phone in disbelief. Once she processed it, she grabbed her phone and yelled, "Six a.m.? Why not just tell me not to sleep at all? It's almost one a.m. already!"
After issuing the task, her phone automatically locked, now sitting quietly in her hand, indistinguishable from any other ordinary phone.
Ruan Shiyu stared at the phone in his hand, speechless. Frustrated, he pounded the bed twice to vent his anger. Then, he tossed the phone aside, pulled the blanket over his head, and went to sleep!
