C16 The Way to Revenge

Muh Linfeng, Huang Ying, I want you to fall from grace, completely shattered!

I turned around and calmly sat on the sofa, looking at Mu Chengyang. "I agree to be your woman," I said.

Mu Chengyang crossed his arms and looked at me, smiling.

I spoke without emotion, "Three years ago, my heart for you died. I later got married, but my husband cheated and set me up to sleep with you, then kicked me out of the house I worked hard to buy." My voice was steady, as if recounting someone else's story.

I continued, "I can be your woman, and as you wish, I won't make it public. But you need to help me. I need your influence to get revenge on that unfaithful man."

Mu Chengyang toyed with his watch, his tone turning cold and serious. "So, you, a homeless divorced woman, are negotiating with me? Hmm?"

In that moment, my heart felt like it was about to stop from tension, but I couldn't give up. Mu Chengyang was my only lifeline, the only way I could achieve my revenge.

I clutched the hem of my shirt and managed to say, "Even if I have to beg you..." with sincerity.

Mu Chengyang stared at the wall behind me, his face cold, showing no intention of responding.

I thought he wouldn't agree. What right did someone like me have? I prepared to turn and leave.

Mu Chengyang stood up and walked over to me, gently touching my earlobe. His lips moved slightly as he said, "Well, it does sound interesting." With that, he picked up the phone to have the agreement sent up.

Hearing Mu Chengyang's affirmative response, I let out a slow breath, picked up the pen, and signed my name, Xu Ximo, on the agreement.

Alright, now that the agreement is signed, I, Xu Ximo, am officially Mu Chengyang's partner.

Mu Chengyang glanced at me and tossed a card my way with a hint of disdain. "Since you're my partner now, buy yourself some clothes and spruce up a bit. Don't look like you're in mourning."

I took Mu Chengyang's card. Indeed, I needed to make a good impression.

I got into Mu Chengyang's Rolls-Royce and headed to a custom boutique, selecting an exclusive outfit designed by a top designer. With a refined and alluring look, I got back in the car and went to Muh Linfeng's company.

Muh Linfeng, I'm back.

As I stepped out of the car, the receptionist at Muh Linfeng's company cautiously asked, "Ma'am, who are you here to see?"

I tilted my chin slightly and looked down, saying, "I'm Xu Ximo, here to see your manager, Mr. Muh Linfeng."

I could feel the air in the room still as everyone seemed to hold their breath, eyes wide with astonishment.

Muh Linfeng came down, surprised, and asked, "Xu Ximo? What are you doing here?"

I threw a copy of the property deed in his face, my voice cold as ice. "Muh Linfeng, get out of my house!"

Muh Linfeng, realizing what was happening, shouted back, "Xu Ximo, you cheated on me, and now you want me to leave? You owe me emotional damages!"

There's a legend: The desert was created by a higher power as a punishment for human greed. All life in the desert depends on the water deity at its center. The water deity fell in love with a woman leading her people to find water. Angered, the higher power decided to destroy the deity's soul. The desert flower goddess, Mandrake, offered herself to reincarnate with him as a plea for mercy. Touched by her devotion, the higher power only banished the water deity from the heavens. Since then, the desert has been waterless, and Mandrake became a cursed flower, her body filled with poison.

The water was warm and gentle, my hair floating around me like sea anemones. I closed my eyes slightly to keep the water out.
