C3 Three Years of Accumulated Disgust

I love eating taro balls, but if I had to eat them every day for three years, even with different flavors, I'd still get tired of them. Can you blame me? It's human nature; over time, what grows isn't affection, but boredom. I think that's what Muh Linfeng meant back then.

Winter has passed, and the fresh scent of spring is in the air. After work, with plenty of daylight left, I grabbed my purse and headed to the grocery store. I bought a bunch of ingredients, planning to cook a big dinner for Muh Linfeng tonight.

But as soon as I opened the door, a glass flew straight at me, shattering on the floor. Muh Linfeng was yelling and throwing furniture around, the place was a mess. I rushed over to stop him, asking, "Muh Linfeng, what's wrong? Stop it."

He pushed my hand away, his eyes bloodshot, and shouted, "Get out! I don't need you!"

I stumbled back, falling to the floor, where shards of glass pierced my foot. Blood started flowing, and I couldn't help but cry out in pain, "Ah!"

Muh Linfeng stopped smashing things and looked at me. But instead of concern, he just said with disgust, "Clean up the floor already; you're making the wood dirty!"

I watched as Muh Linfeng finally stopped throwing furniture around. Ignoring the pain in my foot, I quickly got up and hobbled over to calm him down, saying, "I'll clean up right away. Honey, what's wrong? What happened?" I gently stroked his back as I spoke.

Muh Linfeng, soothed by my touch, finally calmed down, though his face was still full of despair. "The company made a bad investment," he said, his voice heavy with hopelessness. "Now we're facing a massive financial shortfall, and employees are leaving for other jobs. The company I worked so hard to build is about to collapse..."

I tried to comfort him softly, "It's okay, honey. Try to stay positive. There's always a way out. If worse comes to worst, we can file for bankruptcy. I don't have high demands; we can still live a simple life..."

Before I could finish, Muh Linfeng pushed my hand away and shouted angrily, "What do you know! Bankruptcy? No way! I won't accept that! I refuse!" He roared at me like a beast that had its prey snatched away at the mere mention of "bankruptcy."

Terrified, I didn't dare say another word. Muh Linfeng glared at me, then suddenly seemed to think of something and paused.

He looked at me with a strange expression, his eyebrow arching, a cold smile playing on his lips. His gaze swept over my curled-up body. Then he leaned in closer, his voice barely a whisper, "Ximo, I think I've found a solution. Would you be willing to help me?"

I felt a bit scared under his gaze, but I leaned closer and asked, "Honey, how can I help you?"

Muh Linfeng wrapped his arm around my shoulder, his lips near my ear as he whispered softly, "Here's the plan: I'll set up a meeting with some investment company CEOs. You just have to join them for drinks and see if you can get some insider investment tips. How does that sound?"

His warm breath tickled my ear, but inside, I felt a chill. What? My husband actually wants me to entertain clients over drinks!

I angrily pushed him away, turning my face aside, "Muh Linfeng, how could you even think of asking your wife to do something like that?"

Seeing my angry expression, Muh Linfeng quickly tried to explain, "Come on, sweetheart, I'm just trying to make life better for us. It's just a couple of drinks, and I'll handle the rest."

When I still wasn't convinced, he came over and hugged me, saying, "Honey, my only goal is to give you a good life. I can't stand seeing you work so hard every day. With their insider info, our company could be saved, and you could finally relax a bit. I'll make it up to you, I promise."

He held me close, gently swaying.
