C15 A Classic Example of Being Unfaithful and Ungrateful!

"Xi Muchen, I need to talk to you!" Luo Youran could tell he was in the shower just by the sound of the water. But the issue with the bodyguard couldn't be postponed any longer.

"What’s up? Feeling lonely and need some comfort?" It was rare for her to seek him out, and a faint smile appeared on Xi Muchen's strikingly handsome face.

"Let's talk after you get dressed!" Luo Youran turned her back decisively when she saw him come out wrapped in a towel.

"We've already done just about everything; are you still shy about seeing me?" Xi Muchen found her reaction amusing.

"Your bodyguard is injured, and his brother wants to visit him in the hospital. Why won't you allow it?" Luo Youran was tired of arguing with him over these things.

Xi Muchen, that infuriating man, always had a way of getting under her skin, and she didn't want to let him get to her.

"Why should I agree?" A sharp glint flashed in Xi Muchen's dark eyes.

"They're loyal to you, yet you're so heartless it's like you're colder than a snake!" Luo Youran's voice carried a hint of disdain.

"As a bodyguard, getting injured means he wasn't skilled enough. Today's outcome is what he deserves!" Xi Muchen had made it this far not just by being ruthless to others but by being even harder on himself.

"Xi Muchen, he's a person, not just a tool for you. What you're doing is just too chilling. Who would dare work for you after this?" Luo Youran glared at him, her teeth clenched.

Right now, all she wanted was to go up and give him a good punch...

"Don't forget, you're the one who injured him!" Xi Muchen's words nearly drove Luo Youran to madness.

Her radiant face was shadowed with intense anger. "Xi Muchen, this is all thanks to you. If you hadn't sent them to stop me, none of this would have happened!"

Luo Youran had never encountered someone as shameless and devious as Xi Muchen before.

"If you hadn't run away, things wouldn't have turned out like this!" Xi Muchen's lips curled into a cold smirk, his presence radiating an intense chill.

"You..." Luo Youran's breathing quickened, her fists clenched tightly. But remembering why she was there, she managed to suppress her urge to lash out. "What will it take for you to let him visit his brother in the hospital?"

"As long as you don't run off on your own, I'll let Chu Hongwei go to the hospital!" Xi Muchen hadn't expected Luo Youran to come to him over this matter. After all, they'd both been through their share of storms, with walls built high around their hearts. Ordinary farewells and separations no longer stirred their emotions.

"Xi Muchen, don't push your luck!" Luo Youran's hand sliced through the air toward him, but Xi Muchen easily intercepted her strike with a slight lift of his gaze.

"He's just a guard and has no real connection to you. You don't need to involve yourself in his affairs!" Xi Muchen's words made Luo Youran pause. She hadn't planned to get involved, but after hearing Chu Hongwei's heartfelt plea, she couldn't help but remember her own mother's death.

Back then, after completing her mission, she had intended to share her joy with Luo Lin, only to find her mother lying in a pool of blood. Luo Youran didn't even have the chance to say a proper goodbye before Luo Lin passed away. It became an eternal ache in her heart.

That's why Luo Youran felt a pang of compassion for the guard. She knew all too well the pain of losing a loved one.

"I promise you, I won't run away again before the plan is executed," Luo Youran finally conceded. No matter how badly the guard was hurt, she had done what she could, and her conscience was clear.

"Great!" Xi Muchen was pleased with the answer, a sharp glint flashing in his deep eyes. Hearing this, Luo Youran quietly breathed a sigh of relief and headed back to her room.

The next morning, as she got up for breakfast, Xi Muchen was already dressed and ready to head to the office.

"Did you hear? Chu Hongwei's brother, because of his severe injuries, is now in a coma!"

"No way, Chu Hongwei only has that one brother. If Hongliang really ends up in a coma, it would break his heart!"

"Exactly, but being a guard is a dangerous life. Not many get to live out their days in peace."

"They say it was all because of that woman the boss brought back!"

"..."

After finishing her meal, Luo Youran was about to return to her room when she overheard some of the staff talking.

"Chu Hongliang was such a stand-up guy, always helping us out. Who would've thought he'd end up like this?"

"It's such a shame. A good-hearted person like him, now facing a life without awareness."

The staff's words left Luo Youran feeling deeply uneasy. She had injured many during her missions before, but she never regretted it. This time, however, she couldn't shake it off.

With her mind unsettled, she couldn't relax in her room. Luo Youran decided to take a walk in the garden to clear her head, only to run into Chu Hongwei. His eyes were filled with hatred, as if he was ready to strike at any moment. Yet, he made no move.
