C14 Plans

Once Riana was comfortably seated waiting for her driver to accelerate and kick off immediately. She quickly pulled out her phone and dialed Jasper's phone.

"Hello, Ria!! Where are you now? Jasper speaks over the phone.

"Will be there in the thirst-Five minutes….and don't you dare be late." She warned through the phone and hung up." Savannah Road Garden." She told the driver, and soon they hit the road at a comfortable speed.

A few minutes later, she arrived.

"Jasper, we don't have time on our hands, we need to hurry." She began immediately she came down from the car.

"Good morning to you, too." Jasper mocked her.

"Stop" she frowned. Ain't in the mood to joke around?

"Your driver is waiting." He reminded her.

"That's right… Here, she dipped her hand inside her bag and pulled out her credit card. "Don't snack beyond thirty thousand Roypals okay.....and don't bother calling my lines; It's going to be a long day." She tipped the driver off.

"That's so smart of you, Ria." Jasper teased her as the two sat on the slab of marble in the garden.

"Why the puffy eyes… you were crying, right?"

She ignored him.

"Listen, we need to go now, or we will be late."

"They already left." Jasper quickly replied.

"That's a lie." Riana disagreed. "See, Jasper, don't try to stop me." Her anger spiked.

"Come on Ria, think of this whole issue from another angle. Imagine us going to the Northern Coast community and Mellisa is found, and we get lost, which means another panic and trouble for our families. The IIFs' are on it and this time around a positive result will come out. Don't just endanger yourself again. Please..." Jasper sincerely has been thinking about the entire issue and making plans on how to execute it. But each time he outlined strategies, it ended up falling back.

He needed to make Riana see reason with him and as he watched her, he couldn't tell what exactly she was thinking and her reply is what she was waiting for.

"Ria, I know you are close to Mellisa and you two share a bond that I can't relate to; Yes, it's true we've known each other for many years, but still my level of friendship won't be compared to the one you share with Melly. But this problem now is not ours to solve."

Riana's mood changed as she looked away from Jasper.

"We will be endangering our lives and exposing our families to danger if we decide to act on impulse." He heaved a sign." Listen I will suggest that we.....

"Why! Why! Why! Why can't I help and save her, why can't we be the friends she needs at this critical time."

Jasper noticed her sudden change and said. "If you are thinking of blaming yourself for what happened to Mellisa, then don't even start. It's not our fault everything turns out this way. Remember, we were posted in different rural areas."

"Are you behind Mellisa's sudden disappearance?"

Jasper was surprised. How could she think of something like that?

"What is wrong with you, Riana."

"That was a question, Jass." She blurted out.

"Ria…. Your emotions are messing up with your sense of reasoning; Riana McCarthy won't ask me this if she were to be in her rightful sense." He said quite sternly.

"Well! Well!! Well… It seems she lost it the day Mellisa disappeared." She shrugged.

Jasper shook his head, this is the height of it. Did Ria change overnight?

"Listen, Jasper, please help me, and let's get this done right away. Mellisa, you and I are friends too and this is the time to show our support. Mellisa is missing! What in the name that Mellisa is missing that you don't understand? She yelled.

"I apologize for thinking out of context, but please I need your help..... I just don't know what to do… I just want all this to end." She wept.

Jasper was listening with rapt attention and immediately her eyes welled up and drop freely down her cheeks, he shut his eyes and inhaled deeply.

"Let's go." He reached out and took her hand to Riana surprised.

"What are you up to?"

"Joining the troop van, do you really think I will sit back and watch you endangering yourself."

"So, are we going to the office?" She asked, her lips twisting into something that looked like a smile.

"Nope. I already blocked the road. So, once their Van came this way...." He pointed across the road to show her the road being blocked by dried wood, "They will stop to check the blockage, and then we use that opportunity to climb their Van."

Riana's eyes widen at his statement. How thoughtful of you, Jasper. On a serious note, Ria looks like she is not reasoning at all. How do you join the investigation troops without planning on how you will do it? She inhaled deeply and threw a smile at Jasper.

Thank you so much, Jasper, I won't forget this and..... She bites her lips, "Sorry for thinking ill of you. And…" But before she could finish, Jasper cut her to it.

"I know Ria isn't thinking right presently, but I urge you to take the chill pills, okay." Jasper pleaded with her.

Riana nodded her head.

Jasper knows nothing compared to how much their friendship means to each other. Deep down in Jasper's heart, he knows he can't stand and watch, and he must do something about it. He actually plotted out a strategy, and he had a plan to execute.

Jasper swirled his eyes down the road to get a clip of any police truck, and luckily, there was one coming at a medium speed.

"Now listen Ria, the plan is simple, take this." He handed her an ointment in a tube. "That's not an ordinary ointment that is poisonous and harmful chemicals. Higher concentrated Hydrochloric acid to be precise, can melt any metal. I got it from the school science laboratory."

"Wow. That's so thoughtful of you."

The two run and hide nearer to the road, shading themselves under the small trees, even though their faces weren't hidden as they peek at the income vehicles and once it stops.

"Ready…. Go…." He grabbed Ria's hand and crossed over to the other side of the road. "Let me have the Hydrochloric acid." And Ria hands it over to him.

Earlier today, when Jasper was planning on how to carry out her plan, that is following the Investigator and his troop to the Northern Coast community. He earlier stopped at the investigating department after secretly gathering some information about the next moves of the Armed men. He decided to put out a plan, and it seems it worked perfectly.

Furthermore, he went to the School Science Laboratory and borrowed some poisonous substances that can lessen a car tyre. He succeeded, and immediately the driver came down to check on their truck tyres. He opened the back of the Van thanks to the Hydrochloric acid which melted the locks right away and there, Jasper and Riana climbed inside the truck, locked the inside, and hid themselves under one of the sacks the truck was carrying.

The truck was instantly fixed, and the men drove off without suspecting a thing.

Shhh-uuuuuuuuuu. That was McCall's call, blocking his troop trucks and signaling them to stop on the track road, and he obeyed and parked by the road.

Jasper and Raina sat still inside the truck, and they were happy that their plans of trailing alongside the Force men worked out. But now the truck stopped, they wondered what actually happened, and why did it stop midway?

"Shhhhhhhh; don't move." Jasper shushed her up when she was trying to peep from the tiny opening of the truck. She sits back and stays still, wondering what will happen next.

"I promise I won't expose us" She uttered, waving him off.

"I bet you don't know they might suspect something" Jasper whispered to her hearing.

"Are we going to get locked up if they find out we are trailing them?" She widened her eyes at him.

Jasper let out a soft tiny laugh and Ria couldn't help but chuckle slowly too.

"We are doomed if they find out; should we hide inside one of these sacks?"

"I have a lawyer." He boasts.

"Not when you are trailing after a notable investigator and obstructing an officer's work; big criminal offensive side eye." Her eyes softened and she shook her head.

Jasper sat there watching her, the words that left her mouth, he didn't know if she was mocking or comforting the situation they are right now.

"Don't worry, Riana, I got us this time; Come."

He gestures for her to come closer.

Riana felt dissatisfied, her face dropped, but she managed to crawl to his side, and when she did, he grabbed the biggest sack that looked like a blanket and tried to cover themselves up.

Riana let out a snigger. "Wait! What are you trying to do?"

"Well! It's too late already, we better lay still like one of these sacks." Jasper said with a mischievous grin plastered on his face.

She glanced at him in disbelief, shutting her eyes tightly and when she heard the footsteps approaching the trucks, she quietly lay still and Jasper covered themselves.
