"In the western outskirts of the village, Mengzi, it's getting late. You have school tomorrow, so best head to bed early."

Yang Ming spoke with a detached tone, glancing at Jin Mengzi. His words were a clear rejection.

Jin Mengzi felt a pang of disappointment.

"Gekka, you've bought a house in the village outskirts? But that area, it's been designated as forbidden by Lord Grass Kage long ago. Aside from him, no one is allowed to set foot there!"

"Is there even a house out there? Or did you build it yourself?"

Upon hearing this, Gong Lizi and the others gave Yang Ming looks of derision.

"I've heard about the western outskirts too. Rumor has it Lord Grass Kage plans to develop the land. He's marked it off as a restricted zone, only to start construction once the funds are in place."

"Besides Lord Grass Kage, who else would dare to build a house there? And with your resources, building a house is out of the question. Who helped you, Takemura Akira?"

Guan Shang scoffed, his gaze dripping with scorn as he eyed Yang Ming.

They were all well aware of the recent events at the construction site and Yang Ming's actions there.

"Come on, Mr. Gekka, enlighten us. How did you manage to acquire a house in that location?"

Takemura Akira added his own sneer to the mix.

"It must've been a dream, right? Hahaha!"

A few people tidying up the area burst into laughter at the comment.

"It was a gift from Grass Kage," Yang Ming replied, his voice still even.

With that, he turned to leave.

The evening had been enjoyable, and he wasn't about to let the mood sour, especially not in a place that held so many memories for him.

"Lord Grass Kage gave it to you?"

His statement was met with incredulous stares; nobody took him seriously.

"Very well, Mr. Gekka, since you claim as much, why don't we all go see this house that Lord Grass Kage supposedly gifted you?"

Guan Shang suddenly let out a cold, mocking laugh and spoke.

"Let it be, it's late. Everyone should head to bed. Gekka, you may go. And Guan Shang, remember to prioritize your studies above all else. Everything else is secondary. Get some rest."

Gong Lizi noticed the tension and frowned, attempting to smooth things over.

Upon hearing Guan Shang's words, the crowd cast a dismissive glance at Yang Ming and then ignored him.

Jin Mengzi, however, gave Yang Ming a lingering look filled with silent reproach.

This exchange did not escape Jin Cou's notice, and he responded with a derisive smile, addressing Yang Ming with a chilly tone.

"Very well, Mr. Gekka. We're quite curious to see the house Lord Grass Kage has bestowed upon you. It's late, but we don't mind staying up a bit longer to see it."

"Brother!"

At his words, Jin Cou's brows shot up in irritation, clearly sensing the shift in the atmosphere.

She exclaimed sharply.

"Fine!"

But before Jin Mengzi could say more, Yang Ming nodded in agreement.

Turning to Gong Lizi, Yang Ming spoke with grave formality.

"Dean, my return was for two reasons: to attend the gathering and to formally announce my departure from the orphanage. From this point forward, the orphanage and I have no ties. Our past grievances are hereby settled."

"If you're eager to see my house, then let's go."

With that, Yang Ming shrugged nonchalantly and walked away.

"Insufferable! Who does he think he is, acting so high and mighty in front of the Dean? Leaving the orphanage as if he's someone important? Without the orphanage, he's nothing!"

Yang Ming's declaration left everyone seething. They watched his retreating figure with scorn, their comments laced with icy disdain.
