C5 Ridiculous debate Part 2

"It seems that you were very scared because you were called Mrs. Carla?" he asked, changing the subject, and I do not deny it.

I responded with a nod, "As I told you yesterday, I was accepted into this school because of the merit scholarship I got. If I lose the scholarship then I will be kicked out of this school."

"Hmm, then? What does this confession of yours have to do with your fear earlier?"

When I turned to him, I found Luigi staring at me intensely, making me reflexively lower my face. "If I want to keep getting the scholarship, I can't break the rules of this school," I replied, still with my head down.

"Oh, so because I asked you to ditch yesterday, you almost lost your scholarship?"

I nodded quickly. That's the truth.

"It's too hard to be you. You have to always be an obedient child just so you can continue studying at this school. Yesterday I did say you were the most appropriate to go to school here because of your abilities, but after thinking about it again, the truth is that you shouldn't go to school here."

"Do you think because I'm poor, I don't deserve to go to school here with you rich people?" I'm offended to hear this.

Luigi shook his head, "It's not you who don't deserve to go to school here, but this school doesn't deserve students as great as you."

And as soon as I tensed in place, my face must now be as red as a boiled crab.

"You should study at a school that values the abilities of its students. This school isn't concerned with material things and status. You made a big mistake in choosing this school."

I blinked several times, surprised that he was badmouthing the school his father had built.

"The students in this school are all losers. Only relying on parents' money and not depending on their abilities.

"Does this include you?"

When Luigi glared at me, I reflexively covered my mouth, which had gone too far. But I said it subconsciously. The words slipped out of my mouth by themselves.

"Uh, sorry. I do not mean ...."

"Yes, including me." He interrupted my speech, which was still hanging. "I'm also a loser like them."

I don't know what to say now. What is certain is that I realized what I said was wrong.

"I and they are the same. So, you shouldn't have followed me here."

"I think you are different." Luigi, staring ahead, suddenly turned to me with frowning eyebrows in confusion.

"You are different from those who always look down on me just because my status is lower than theirs. You do me a favor. That proves you are different from them. You…” I paused, again hesitant to continue.

"Me why?"

When he asked, I knew I had no choice but to continue what I was hanging on to. "You're a good person."

Luigi didn't say anything. He looked at me as if he forgot how to blink. Before suddenly, he burst into laughter. His laughter echoed across the lonely rooftop.

"I?" he said while pointing at himself with his index finger. "You say I'm a good person?"

I nodded quickly in response.

"You're the first person to say this. What other people think I'm a good person."

"I think you are a good person. Thank you, you have helped me a lot." I smiled at the end of my speech because I sincerely thanked him.

"Oi, Luigi, I knew you were here."

A voice suddenly sounded and interrupted our conversation. A young man who is one of the students at this school approached us. I often see him hanging around Luigi's side. I can predict he must be Luigi's best friend.

"Oh, Serena. You're here too. Am I bothering you?"

It wasn't his question that surprised me; it was him whose name I didn't even know, but he knew my name before I introduced myself.

"Why do you know my name?" I asked innocently.

"Who doesn't know you at this school, Serena? You're a genius Sondrio International High School student. Always gets the first rank, is beautiful, and is also very quiet. You're always alone," he said at length. Is that what everyone thinks of me? I even just found out.

"Introducing, my name is Ugo Maldini. I'm Luigi's classmate. Sorry if I disturbed your date with Luigi." He held out his right hand. But I didn't return his hand. I was just surprised by his words. How could he think I'm dating Luigi in this place?

"We do not ...."

"If you knew we were dating, why are you here? Go away, you intruders!" The one who interrupted my words without permission was Luigi—saying words that made me gawk in disbelief. Did Luigi admit in front of Ugo that we are having a date here? This is a lie.

"Oh, so I'm a bully huh? OK, I understand now." Ugo, who was standing near Luigi, seemed to intend to leave. Seeing him, I rushed to my feet.

"You misunderstood. We're not dating," I said, explaining.

One of Ugo's eyebrows rose, "Huh? So who is lying here?" Ugo pointed at me with his index finger and then at Luigi.

Luigi and I looked at each other. I gave a sign with a glance so that Luigi would correct what he said earlier, or Ugo would continue to need clarification. However, instead of helping me explain, he turned his face the other way. Then, without caring about me and Ugo, he lay down on the chair while raising one hand high in the air.

"Who do you think looks like lying?" asked Luigi, which was aimed at Ugo.

Ugo chuckled as he put his hands into his trouser pockets, "Of course you do. A girl as good as Serena, how could lie? Isn't that right, Serena? So you two aren't dating?"

I nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah, we're not dating. We just chatted for a while," I replied.

"Even though it's true that dating is also OK. I support you guys," he said with a wink, teasing me.

I tensed up instantly, especially when I saw Luigi's response was just a soft grunt before he closed his eyes as if he didn't care about Ugo and me anymore.

Feeling that arguing with the two young men was useless and that I had no business here anymore, I quickly left them. Leaving Ugo with his hands stretched forward as if intending to stop me from going.

"Hey, Serena..." This voice belonged to Luigi. I stopped and immediately turned around. I looked at him. He was still lying relaxed in the chair. Now our eyes met because he, too, was looking at me with a serious expression.

"I meant what I said yesterday, so you don't need to hesitate to ask me for help."

At this time, I'm sure my face is red like a boiled crab for the umpteenth time. I didn't expect Luigi and Ugo to see it, so I continued the delayed step. Leave them as fast as possible without responding to Luigi's words earlier.
