C10 Nothing Changed

10. Nothing Changed

In the morning Rifki was already struggling in the kitchen with an apron perched on his body. The two children sat at the dining table enjoying their milk and breakfast that morning. Rifki made Arka's favorite burger and Nadia's favorite fried rice. "How does it taste, is it good?" Rifki asked while sitting on the dining chair.

"As usual." Arka and Nadia raised their thumbs, praising their father's cooking which, as usual, was delicious.

"Good, eat some more."

Resha, who had just woken up, immediately went downstairs and approached them who were busy talking at the dining table. Her brow furrowed as she looked at her husband who was already there in the morning with his children. The man left last night not long after she lay down.

"Morning, Mama ...!" the two of her children greeted Resha.

Resha approached, then replied with a sweet smile. "Good morning, Honey. How was your sleep, sleep tight?" she asked while rubbing the heads of Arka and Nadia. Her eyes turned to Rifki who stood up and prepared to make milk for her, the usual routine for this man to do in the morning.

Although there were several servants in his house, Rifki prefers to serve his own wife and children because they were everything to him, and would not change. However, when Resha traveled abroad, his mother took over her duties.

"Never mind, don't bother making something for me. It's not like you have another wife you have to look out for now." Resha looked at the back of her husband whose hair looked half wet, something that had never happened during their marriage. Because when they had sex, usually Rifki always dries her hair with a hair dryer after bathing.

Rifki took a deep breath, then turned around and smiled sweetly. His lips smiled at the cold look on Resha's face as usual. "Mama, why should not be like this every day? Besides, the situation in this house will not change even though Papa had ... yeah, that's how it is," Rifki said, holding his wife's shoulders.

Rifki's words made Resha a little aware of her bad behavior towards her husband all this time. However, Resha did not want to worry about their situation.

"Fine if you want to." Resha walked to the dining table leaving Rifki who was still standing with a faint smile.

Mesya immediately went to the hospital when the doctor who treated her sister asked her to come there. Mesya approached several doctors who were standing while chatting seriously. "Doctor."

The middle-aged woman smiled kindly and asked Mesya to come to her room to sign the surgery application file. "The operation will be done at nine o'clock, so you just pray, okay," the doctor said and smiled at Mesya, who looked worried.

"Please do your best, Doctor, so that my sister can be saved."

The doctor nodded again, understanding the anxiety of her patient's sister.

Shortly before her sister was put into the operating room, Mesya repeatedly strengthened her so that her sister could survive and the operation could run smoothly. "I'm sure you will recover," she said with teary eyes while holding her sister's hand which felt cold, only bones covered with skin.

Her sister's weight has dropped drastically due to her illness. Mesya could not bear to see her sister's condition getting worse day by day.

"Where did you get the money from?" Alin asked in a weak voice typical of a sick person.

"Sister, don't think about anything. What is clear, God willing, the money is lawful. The important thing is that you recover, I will do whatever it takes to heal your sister," Mesya said earnestly.

"Sorry, Ma'am. The operation will be in soon." the nurse who was walking over said.

Mesya nodded slowly.

Mesya put her cellphone back in her sling bag after informing her husband that her sister had entered the operating room.

Rifki read the message with an uneasy feeling, then he approached his secretary and asked about his schedule for today. "Today there is no work that is too important, Sir. It's just that at three o'clock, you have to attend a meeting at the Buana hotel with our new client," the secretary said after looking at the notebook.

"Okay, then I have some business and I might return this afternoon," Rifki replied, who nodded in return.

Mesya sat on the waiting bench, looking down and praying.

From a distance Rama approached her in a hurry. "Mey."

Mesya looked up, slightly surprised that the person she was avoiding was suddenly in front of her. "Rama."

"Be patient, okay. I'm sure Sis Alin will recover after this." Without warning, Rama grabbed Mesya into his arms. He rubbed the back of the girl who had filled his colorful days. Trying to provide support so that Mesya was strong and did not feel alone.

Mesya was uncomfortable, trying to get away with feelings of guilt.

Rama who saw Mesya's puffy face smiled faintly. "Sorry, I moved too far. After two days, you disappeared. I was confused looking for you. So, where have you actually been? Then where did you get the high cost of surgery?" Rama asked in succession while looking at his girlfriend's face. His eyes narrowed slightly, when Mesya adjusted her collar.

Mesha was confused. Did not ready yet to explained. Surely a man who was not easy to get close to a woman will be hurt if he finds out the truth. "I..." Mesya lowered her head. Afraid.

From a distance, Rifki who saw his wife being hugged, immediately walked over with a flat face and cleared his throat. "He's with me."

Mesya and Rama immediately turned to the source of the sound. Mesya, who did not expected her husband to come, immediately stepped back, not wanting to see Rifki's face, who might be angry at his closeness to another man.

Meanwhile, Rama was a little surprised by the words of the man in neat clothes. "Emm, I mean, Mesya works with me." Rifki glanced at his wife who was looking down.

Rama exhaled slowly. He had almost misunderstood. "Oh, I see. Thank you." Rama stretched out a hand which Rifki immediately replied.

Mesya was still standing where she was. Seeing her husband and boyfriend who looked familiar.

The three of them sat on the bench, chatting lightly. Talk about each other. From Rama's story, Rifki knew that they had been dating for about seven months and were still connected.

Not far from that place, a man with two bodyguards saw Rifki. He paused for a moment to stare away at his son-in-law. "What is he doing here?" the man asked in his seventies with a stick in his hand.

"Should I search what happened, Sir?" the guard asked respectfully, without raising his voice.

The old man raised his hand as he backed away. "I'll ask him later."
