C11 I'll Help You with Your Homework in the Future!
Yem Xi and Lin Xiao simultaneously turned their heads.
Jing Cheng eyed the pair before him, his brow furrowing involuntarily.
The Lin family's kid?
Lin Xiao had previously encountered Jing Cheng.
He was taken aback, glancing between Jing Cheng and Yem Xi, his mind awash with uncertainty.
Did Ms Xi know Young Master Jing?
Since when?
As these thoughts swirled in Lin Xiao's head, he mustered the courage to greet him, "Young Master Jing."
Jing Cheng gave a slight nod, his attention fixed on Yem Xi, "What brings you here?"
Yem Xi's brow furrowed.
His question sounded almost parental.
Why couldn't she be here?
Nonetheless, owing him a favor, Yem Xi maintained a gentle demeanor, "I'm here on some personal business."
Having mentioned it was personal, any reasonable person would refrain from probing further.
But she had overlooked that the man before her was Jing Cheng.
He might not inquire, but he wasn't one to let things go easily.
Jing Cheng's gaze sharpened, his lips curling into a knowing smirk as he regarded Lin Xiao as though he were sizing up a suspect.
After a moment, he chuckled softly, his laughter carrying the refreshing chill of a summer evening breeze, tinged with an undercurrent of warmth.
Yem Xi felt a twinge of irritation.
What was the meaning behind that smile?
Lin Xiao, sensing the tension, realized the gentleman might have misconstrued his relationship with Ms Xi.
He stood there, awkwardly stealing glances at Yem Xi.
Jing Cheng's focus returned to Yem Xi, his tone light, "School's about to start. Shouldn't you be focusing on your studies instead of wandering around?"
Yem Xi remained silent.
Lin Xiao blinked.
Studying?
Ms Xi?
Was that really necessary?
Yem Xi clarified, "I needed to discuss something with Lin Xiao."
Wen Donglin, having just parked his car, approached with a smile.
"What a coincidence, Ms Yem Xi and Lin Xiao... you two know each other?"
The Wen family and the Lin family were somewhat acquainted. He recognized Lin Xiao as Lin Yao's younger brother, but they weren't close, mainly due to the age difference.
Yet Lin Xiao and Yem Xi, being of similar age, knew each other?
Wen Donglin was taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.
Lin Xiao mustered his courage and greeted Wen Donglin, "Mr. Donglin."
Once introductions were made, everyone was acquainted.
The atmosphere became even more awkward than before.
Standing at the door, it seemed impolite to say nothing.
Yem Xi sighed internally and subtly signaled Lin Xiao with a glance.
Catching her cue, Lin Xiao extended an invitation as if he were the host, "Would you two like to come in and sit down?"
He was merely following Ms Xi's lead with a polite gesture, not really expecting Jing Cheng and Wen Donglin to accept.
But to his surprise, Jing Cheng gave a slight nod.
Wen Donglin beamed, "Of course!"
Lin Xiao: "..."
Yem Xi: "..."
The group proceeded inside.
A mess of weeds sprawled across the courtyard, catching their attention first.
Yem Xi was almost frozen in shock.
Jing Cheng caught the look of dismay on her face and subtly curled his lips.
She was someone who appreciated tidiness.
"How long has this place been neglected?"
Wen Donglin also frowned, "Lin Xiao, this yard needs some attention. It's overgrown with weeds."
Lin Xiao forced a laugh and glanced cautiously at Yem Xi, "Absolutely, I'll get on it later."
He knew Ms Xi would have his head for this.
The courtyard was actually filled with medicinal herbs that Ms Xi had instructed him to plant.
Initially, the seeds were sorted, but he had accidentally mixed them up. Unable to distinguish them, he had no choice but to scatter them all together, resulting in the current state of affairs.
They made their way along the stone path and into the house.
Inside, the house was surprisingly clean and tidy, evidently maintained on a regular basis.
"Please, have a seat. I'll go make some tea," Lin Xiao offered warmly to Jing Cheng and Wen Donglin, while stealing a glance at Yem Xi.
But his subtle movements did not go unnoticed by Jing Cheng and Wen Donglin.
Wen Donglin settled comfortably on the sofa, a smile playing on his lips, anticipating the unfolding drama.
Jing Cheng spoke calmly, "No need, we won't stay long. Let's all just sit and talk for a bit."
His simple words carried an authoritative tone that commanded the room.
Lin Xiao had no choice but to rejoin Yem Xi and sit down on the sofa obediently.
There was a gap of two people's distance between them. Jing Cheng's gaze fell lightly upon the pair, yet it seemed to weigh heavily upon them. Yem Xi was visibly irritated, her eyebrows drawn together in frustration. What was going on?
Noticing the young girl's impatience, Jing Cheng smiled softly, his voice warm, "Xi, what do you need Lin Xiao for?"
"I need some help with my homework," Yem Xi replied, lifting her gaze to meet Jing Cheng's without flinching. "I'm about to start my Third Year at Yi City No.1 High School. Lin Xiao is in my grade, and he's the top student in the whole school."
Lin Xiao muttered to himself, his first-place ranking at his age seemed trivial.
Jing Cheng chuckled again, "I see. Well, I'm not busy, so I'll tutor you from now on. You can ask me anything you don't understand."
Yem Xi's frown deepened. She had heard that Jing Cheng was a super Quick Learner during his student days, so his capability was not in question. But when had he taken up the hobby of tutoring?
Jing Cheng was clearly serious. He extended his phone, "Add me on WhatsApp. If you need anything, just reach out to me."
Yem Xi looked at the QR code and reluctantly took out her phone to add him on WhatsApp.
Wen Donglin joined in with a smile, "Yi City No.1 High School has exams at the start of every year. Ms Yem Xi, if you study well, you should have no trouble with the tests."
Lin Xiao's eyes widened in disbelief. What were they all thinking? Didn't they realize how formidable Ms Xi was? As if an exam at Yi City No.1 High School could pose any challenge to her!
