C6 Jing Cheng Actually Stood up for Her!

Deep down, Jiang Shuyao was reluctant to let others lay eyes on Yem Xi.

Her face was simply too striking.

Du Qingtian quickly chimed in, "Your dad said to hurry down!"

Yem Xi arched an eyebrow.

Given Jiang Shuyao's hesitance to have her descend the stairs, the guest was certainly not Wen Ziquan from the Wen family.

After Du Qingtian's insistence, Jiang Shuyao had no choice but to lead the way downstairs, her tone softening as she addressed Yem Xi, "Let's go."

Together, the trio made their way to the living room.

Jiang Shuyao affectionately linked her arm through Du Qingtian's, leading the way, while Yem Xi followed at a measured distance, her black bag slung over her shoulder.

Jing Cheng's attention bypassed the flamboyant mother and daughter duo and settled on the girl dressed in a plain white top and black trousers.

Xu Yu had already briefed him on Yem Xi's background.

She was said to have been raised in Riverside Village, with a background that evoked sympathy, and a disposition that was mild-mannered.

Yet, as he observed, this young lady was evidently not one to be underestimated!

The Jiang family's eldest daughter's petty maneuvers seemed to go unnoticed by the astute Yem Xi.

Feeling the weight of his stare, Yem Xi looked up calmly, her expression unflustered.

She paused for a moment, recognizing the newcomers.

Jing Cheng and Wen Donglin.

Both were esteemed figures, and their friendship was well-known.

But...

Wen Donglin's presence was understandable, given his connections with the Jiang family in Yi City.

But Jing Cheng from the Jing family? Did they have ties with the Jiangs as well?

If so, the Jiang family would surely have boasted about their alliance with the Jing family by now.

Jiang Yifan glanced back as Jiang Shuyao approached, quickly putting on a smile to introduce her to Jing Cheng, "This is my eldest daughter, Jiang Shuyao. She's entering her Third Year next term and is preparing for Imperial University."

Pride beamed from his face as he spoke of Jiang Shuyao.

Jing Cheng remained silent.

Jiang Yifan's expression tensed slightly, noticing Jing Cheng's gaze fixed on Yem Xi. He forced a smile and said, "And this is Yem Xi, the second daughter we've only recently welcomed back into our family."

When Jiang Shuyao spoke about Yem Xi, her smile faded significantly compared to the beaming one she had while introducing herself.

It was clear to any discerning eye which daughter held more weight in their hearts.

Wen Donglin surveyed the members of the Jiang family, his smile growing more pronounced.

Apparently, the recently discovered second daughter hadn't brought much happiness to the household.

The young girl's future seemed like it would be challenging.

However...

He shot a glance at the individual next to him and quickly arched an eyebrow. Being esteemed by such a person meant the Jiang family would surely tread carefully around him.

Jiang Yifan was eager to steer the conversation back to the matter at hand.

The Wen family was managing a major project, and there was a long queue of people eager to collaborate with them. Previously, the Jiang family had no access, but unexpectedly, the Wen family's heir had paid them a visit today.

Jiang Yifan was determined to capitalize on this chance.

Discussing important business didn't require a crowd.

He signaled to Du Qingtian.

With a subtle nod, Du Qingtian gently took Jiang Shuyao's hand and said, "Yao Yao, why don't you show Xi her room?"

"Sure," Jiang Shuyao replied with a sweet smile. "Come on, Xi."

Once they had left, Jiang Yifan turned to his guest with a smile, "Young Master Wen..."

He had barely begun when something whizzed over his head, followed by a loud thud behind him, as if something had crashed to the floor.

Du Qingtian was the first to rise.

Her expression soured at the sight of the deformed Transformer and the cell phone on the ground.

Before Du Qingtian could speak, Jiang Yuhao came barreling down the stairs, pointing at Yem Xi and shouting venomously, "Hick, get out of my house! You're not welcome here! Hick!"

Jiang Shuyao's face paled, and she quickly grabbed Jiang Yuhao, covering his mouth and hissing, "We have guests, what are you saying!"

Wen Donglin observed the commotion, then turned to Jing Cheng.

He knew that even without tossing the phone, Yem Xi could have avoided the toy.

But by throwing the phone, the incident took on a whole different significance.

"I'm not making this up! She's just a country bumpkin!" Jiang Yuhao was defiant, shrugging off Jiang Shuyao's hand and making a move to hit Yem Xi.

At only eight years old, he had been coddled into a little cherub.

Yem Xi saw him charging and smoothly stepped to the side.

Jiang Yuhao was used to being indulged; no one ever dared to stop him from getting his way.

Little did he know that Yem Xi would sidestep, causing him to lose his balance and tumble to the ground, wailing in pain.

Du Qingtian, seeing her darling son fall, rushed over, her heart aching. She scooped him up to inspect him, "Yuhao, where are you hurt? Show Mommy!"

Jiang Yuhao continued to cry, and Du Qingtian was beside herself with concern, paying no mind to the other guests. She turned and scolded Yem Xi, "You're so much bigger than he is. What would it have cost you to just let him be? What harm could he have done to you?"

Torn between her pampered son and Yem Xi, who seemed as distant as a stranger, Du Qingtian's reaction was to be expected.

Yem Xi stood to the side, observing the scene with a detached silence.

Aware that she wasn't a true member of the Jiang family, she remained emotionally unaffected by the drama unfolding before her.

Jing Cheng's eyes lingered on Yem Xi's face.

He noticed the young girl standing still, her demeanor composed and even indifferent.

As if none of this pertained to her.

The wrongdoers were showered with affection and concern, while the innocent were chastised.

Jing Cheng reclined against the sofa, his gaze icy, "The Jiang family's approach to education is indeed eye-opening."
