C47 Let's See Who Has More Tears!
Huo Niannian had eagerly looked to Gu Tingshen, only to be deflated by his parting words. He had already taken the lead and was walking away.
As he walked off, Huo Niannian made a silly face at his retreating figure, sticking out her tongue and pinching her nose to mimic a pig's snout. Then, unexpectedly, Gu Tingshen turned back to remind her, "Think of a way to deal with yesterday's scandal."
He saw that?
Is the Public Relations Department of Imperial Group just for decoration?
Suppressing her inner turmoil, Huo Niannian quickly got ready, opting for a modest shirt and skirt combo. When she came downstairs, Gu Tingshen was there, waiting to join her for breakfast.
She took her time with breakfast until Assistant Zhou rushed in, his anxiety palpable. "President, there's trouble," he announced as soon as he entered.
On the video playing on her phone, Cao Nana was tearfully addressing the camera, "Niannian and I have been dear friends since high school. She had to drop out after a little over a year. Yes, Niannian's family is poor, with only her grandmother left. But that hasn't stopped her from striving for a better life! I implore you, please stop spreading rumors about her. She's come so far to reach her current position. Yesterday's incident was just an accident—what friends don't argue occasionally, right?"
Throughout the ride to the company, Gu Tingshen was the picture of composure, his expression giving nothing away.
Huo Niannian gritted her teeth—Cao Nana was sticking to her like an annoying bandage!
"Have you decided what you're going to say later?"
Gu Tingshen's sudden gaze caught her momentarily off guard. After hesitating, Huo Niannian gave a nod.
Just an hour before, they had seen Cao Nana's tearful appeal to the journalists at home, supposedly in defense of Huo Niannian, yet she had inadvertently exposed all of her friend's past.
But so what? Huo Niannian wasn't the least bit intimidated!
She smirked to herself as the car stopped in front of the Imperial Group building. Even from afar, she could see the swarm of reporters at the entrance, effectively barred by the bodyguards from getting too close.
"They're here!"
A voice called out suddenly, and the reporters swarmed over like bees to honey. Even though Huo Niannian had steeled herself for this moment, the scene still made her shudder uncontrollably.
"Scared?" A deep voice whispered in her ear.
"I've never known fear," Huo Niannian shot back, giving Gu Tingshen a cool look while her fingers subconsciously touched the pendant on her neck.
The moment the door opened, reporters bombarded Huo Niannian with cameras and microphones thrust in her face.
She flinched but maintained her poise, observing the proper etiquette.
"Mrs. Gu, do you know Miss Cao Nana?"
"Is there any substance to her claims against you? We've verified that your former boyfriend is indeed a man named He Feng. How did you manage to get involved with Director Gu?"
"We need you to confront our questions head-on. Are the statements in the video accurate?"
Gu Tingshen watched Huo Niannian handle the chaos with aplomb, his respect for her growing. Facing the press, he moved to her side and placed an arm around her shoulders, a gesture that lent her his unequivocal support in full view of everyone.
