C5 Chapter 5 –This better not be love

Jade's POV:

Its been a week and I haven't heard from Ella. I don't know what I did wrong.

I was told she quit. I have no idea why she did. After asking her to clean my office and dust the already dusted books, I didn't know she was going to take it personally. I can't stoop so low to start looking for her to explain why she quit. Why am I even thinking about her? Last week all I was seeing in my dreams was her face hunting me.

Her eyes, God her skin was all I had been thinking about. I only saw her for a few hours and I couldn't wait for her to resume the next day only to be told she quit.

The only reason I can come up with for thinking about her like this is that I haven't gotten laid for the past six months now. It has to be the only reason. My inner voice laughed at me,

" Jade, it's so obvious you have feelings for this girl. You are just trying to deny and deceive yourself."

" That's far from the truth and shut up. You don't talk when you are not needed." Argh... now I'm exchanging words with my inner voice. This is crazy.

I better prepare myself to fit in for my new suit from Niphme's clothing line she sure knows how I like my suit. Her work is neat and perfect she is one of my favourite designers. I quickly place a call through to my assistant and notify her that I'll be leaving the office for a while. I need that suit for the upcoming dinner party the company was hosting.

I arrive at Niphme wears and head towards her office. She's been quite busy lately. I heard her assistant moved to a new place because she needed to take care of her dying mother.

On my way to her office, I see my business rival, Frederick smiling and charting with someone at the personal assistant's office. Well, I guess she has finally gotten a new person to fill the spot.

I move closer and come in contact with the face that has been haunting my sleep, Ella. "Ella" I called out making both heads turn to me.

"Well, well, well. It is the almighty Jade Brown standing here in all his glory," said Frederick looking at me and turning towards Ella. He must have noticed my long stare at Ella, causing him to smirk.

" Mr Brown? what a coincidence." Ella replied.

"I'll call you later and don't forget I'm picking you up on Friday evening it's a date," Frederick said to Ella and walked out not before sending me an evil smile. The new Ella I saw in front of me was a different one I saw last week. She was wearing a black coloured jumpsuit that was hugging her curves.

This has to be a dream. Last week she was in a janitors uniform and now she was wearing a sleek cloth, looking like a snack. I'm so confused right now. I was staring at her for so long thinking of so many things that must have happened during the week. Maybe she came in contact with a business mogul that fell in love with her and changed her life. I mean who wouldn't? she is a beauty. A small cough brought me back from my trip of thoughts.

"Mr Jade are you alright? you zoned out."

"Sorry, it is just surprising to see you here. I thought you were working at my company.

"Yea. It is a long story. My mum's sister died and she didn't have a child so she willed all her property to me that's why I quit and went ahead to look for a decent job which I miraculously found here. I heard she was in desperate need of a PA so I submitted my Cv and here I am ." she lied.

"Oh, I see, well I didn't notice which is very bad of me. Please accept my apologies."

" No offence was taken. I mean with the number of workers you have, your busy schedule and all, I doubt you'll have time to notice a common janitor was missing just like that."

Ouch, that hit home. I noticed for Godsake I noticed the next day when you were supposed to finish up your cleaning in my office but you never showed up. I just can't admit that aloud.

"Mr Jade, My boss is not around at the moment but she gave instructions for the clients coming in today. Let me check the list for your name. Oh, right here. Did you come for the fitting of your suit right? " Yes, I did."

"Please come this way." She said as she led me towards the fitting room. I just couldn't stop staring at her from behind the way she swayed her hips and the jumpsuit she was wearing had a deep cut at the back, ending just a little above her waist. The cloth revealed her bareback, leaving room for little imagination of what's down there.

This girl is sure going to be the death of me. We reach the fitting room and I change into the newly made suits to see it fits perfectly. I was about to fix my tie when she offered.

" Let me fix that for you."

"Sure why not". This was me asking for trouble. I couldn't even control myself when she was far off not to talk of when she's this close. She was knotting my tie like it was what she did for a living. If she's this skilful knotting a tie I wonder how she'll be when she's taking it off.

"Perfect," she said as the tip of her fingers brushes my neck sending shivers down my spine. "Mr Brown this looks so perfect on you ." please call me Jade or J.B seeing you no longer work for me. I turn to look into the large mirror on the wall to check out my outfit for the coming dinner our company was hosting.

I feel a presence very close to me I didn't know she had walked up this close. I turn around and our eyes immediately start penetrating into each others soul. I lose my patience of taking things slow and start leaning in for a kiss our lips were few inches apart when I felt a hand on my chest stopping me.

"I'm sorry I can't, I mean we can't."

"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking. Let me just take this off, I'll be right back." I change into the cloth I wore to work and neatly arrange the one I just took off.

I better leave this place as soon as possible before I lose my mind completely. Goodbye Ella and don't forget to tell Niphme I stopped by.

"Sure Jade. We will have your outfit delivered tomorrow. Have a lovely day ahead."

I pack my stuff and head home from work achieving nothing ever since I came back from Niphme wears. I even had to reschedule the meeting I had this afternoon. I came up with an excuse of having a migraine of course I was but it wasn't a migraine caused by work, it was caused by Ella. I get home in one piece thanking God that I was able to drive home safely with all the things on my mind.

There is only one way to solve all this problem. I pick up my phone and dial Paige's number.

Hello, Paige are you still in town? Come and stay for the week before leaving for Chicago.

"Anything for my Jai," she answered.

"Good, see you in the evening."

I sit on my leather couch and begin to recall how the day went.

I can't believe Frederick asked her out. He was a big-time player. We went to college together. He used girls like T-rolls. "And what do you call yourself ?" my inner voice questioned. I was never a player not until rose made me one and I don't date them I just sleep with them that's all. "That's even worst," he replied.

I don't care.

I just don't want to see Frederick and Ella together. I will be infuriated by the mere sight. "Someone sure sounds jealous".

What did I say about not talking when you aren't needed.

There was a knock on the door signalling Paige was around. How many hours have I been sitting here? I asked myself as I stroll to open the door for Paige.

"Hello Jai baby, someone looks stressed out," she says as she walks in wearing a see-through black net dress and holding a small bag containing her clothes and stuffs she'll be needing for the week like always.

I wake up tangled to the sheets and see a very angry looking Paige staring at me. "What?" I questioned.

" I can't believe you still have the guts to question me. Why exactly did you call me here if it's Ella you wanted?".

"What do you mean by that?"

"You kept on calling Ella's name, who the hell is she?".

Don't you ever refer to her like that if you still want to have anything to do with me!!

"You know what? screw you and screw Ella. I'm done with this. Get yourself someone else to satisfy your useless sexual needs. I can't believe I wasted all my time and advances on you.

"Paige, don't go, I didn't mean it like that. She slams the door at my face, gets into her car and drives off. What have I done? Paige was the best so far.

I prepare myself for work and decide to forget anything that concerns Ella Adeoye. She was beginning to indirectly cause me trouble. I better look for their delivery guy to get him to call in sick on Friday and ask for my tux to be delivered on Friday I don't want Frederick taking her out on any useless date.

I pick up my phone and call Ms Od.

"Hi, dropped by the office yesterday to try out my outfit and it fits perfectly just like always but I won't be around till Friday I lied. I hope you don't mind I would love to get the delivery guy's contact to tell him exactly when to drop it off.

" No problem Mr Brown. I will send it immediately. Thanks for your frequent patronage."
